    NBA | Pistons vs Heat

Play on: Pistons +13 -115 at BetCris

Mike Lundin's Pistons vs Heat NBA Free Pick March 15, 2022
The bookmakers have repeatedly undervalued Detroit lately, resulting in a 10-1 ATS run for the Pistons.

Additionally, they've covered the spread in each of the previous three meetings with Miami this season, winning one of those games outright.

The Heat have dropped two of their last three games, despite closing each as at least 4-point favorites.

    Free pick on Detroit Pistons.

      NBA | Pistons vs Heat

Play on: Heat -12½ -110 at Mirage

Tuesday NBA Free play. My selection is on Miami minus the points over Detroit at 7:40 pm et on Tuesday.
The Pistons had their incredible 10-game ATS winning streak snapped in a 106-102 home loss to the Clippers on Sunday. I look for the Heat to add another ATS loss to Detroit's ledger on Tuesday night in Miami. The Pistons have played a lot of basketball lately - this will be their seventh game in the last 13 nights- and we saw some signs of fatigue on Sunday as they could only get off 80 field goal attempts in the loss to the Clippers. Note that they've now hoisted up 83 or fewer FG attempts in three straight games, knocking down just 35 and 36 field goals respectively over their last two contests. That doesn't bode well as they go up against a Heat squad that has been incredibly stingy, yielding fewer than 40 made field goals in five of their last six games and just 37 on average here at home this season. Save for a poor performance against the Suns on this floor last week, the Heat have been locked in defensively, doing a tremendous job of containing opposing offenses, limiting them to 83 or fewer FG attempts in four of their last six contests. While the Miami offense has been uneven lately, here it will have a good opportunity to get loose against a Detroit defense that has allowed 40+ made field goals in four straight games, despite three of those four contests being played at a relatively slow pace. Take Miami.

Phoenix @ New Orleans (8:10 PM EST)
            Play On: Phoenix -5
The Phoenix Suns travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans on Tuesday night Phoenix is 54-14 SU overall this year while New Orleans comes in with a 28-40 SU overall record on the season. Phoenix is 30-15 ATS last 3 years including 4-0 SU and ATS this year when revenging a home loss vs an opponent. Phoenix is 61-32 ATS last 3 years including 12-1 SU and ATS this year when playing with revenge. New Orleans is 11-25 ATS last 3 years after playing a division game. We'll recommend a small play on Phoenix tonight! Thanks and good luck, Rocky

              NBA | Suns vs Pelicans

Play on: Suns -5½ -110 at Ace

My free play is on the Pho Suns at 8:10 ET.
The Suns lost PG Chris Paul (14.9 & 10.7 APG) to a fractured right thumb right before the All-Star break and many wondered if they were going to be able to stave off the Warriors and Grizzlies for the West's top record. Phoenix may have answered that question by going 6-4 in its first 10 games without Paul and entering tonight's game in New Orleans, is 7 1/2-games ahead of both Golden St and Memphis (Suns have just 14 games remaining!). The New Orleans Pelicans beat the Suns 117-102 back on Feb 25 in Phoenix in their first game after the All-Star break, kicking off a four-game winning streak that carried New Orleans into 10th place in the Western Conference. However, the Pelicans' four-game winning streak was followed by a four-game losing streak, which ended with a 130-105 home victory against Houston on Sunday. The Pelicans still own the No. 10 seed in the West and while they are just ONE game behind the Lakers (No. 9 seed), they are also just 1 1/2-games ahead of the Blazers (No. 11 seed).
Phoenix lost its next game after falling to New Orleans back on Feb 25 but have adjusted to Paul's absence to go 5-2 since. Devin Booker (25.6-5.1-4.9) had 30 points and 10 assists plus center Deandre Ayton (16.9 & 10.0) had 23 points and 16 rebounds in routing the visiting Los Angeles Lakers 140-111 on Sunday night. The Suns also have FIVE more players averaging 9.3-13.7 PPG, although Cam Johnson (12.8 & 4.1) is currently sidelined with a right quad contusion.
Zion Williamson hasn't played in a single game for the Pelicans this season but there are 'whispers' that he could return before the end of the regular season. That said, the Pelicans have to be worried that Williamson just may not be the team's future. The Pelicans' top two scorers are Brandon Ingram (22.8-5.7-5.5) and CJ McCollum (22,2-4.6-5.1 / 27.1-5.6-6.7 with New Orleans). That duo combined for 60 points in that Feb 25 win in Phoenix but both are sidelined. SIX Pelicans scored in double figures against the Rockets, and three of them had double-doubles. Valanciunas had 32 points and 10 rebounds, Naji Marshall had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Jose Alvarado had 16 points and 10 assists.
However, a win over the 17-51 Rockets hardly means much. What is significant is that New Orleans had allowed an average of 130 points during its four-game losing streak. Without Ingram and McCollum, the Pelicans are in over their heads vs a Suns team playing with the memory of that 15-point home to loss back on Feb 25. Lay the points.
              Good luck...Larry

                NCAA-B | Alcorn State vs Texas A&M

Play on: Alcorn State +20½ -110 at Caesars

Jack's Free Pick Tuesday: Alcorn State +20.5
This play is strictly a fade of Texas A&M. The Aggies were the biggest snubs to be left out of the NCAA Tournament. They went 7-1 SU & 7-1 ATS in their final eight games with the lone loss coming to Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game.
Now it's a great time to 'sell high' on the Aggies, who won't be excited at all to be playing in the NIT when they feel like they should be playing in the NCAA Tournament. They are also a tired team now playing their 5th game in 6 days. They won't have much left in the tank for Alcorn State today.
Alcorn State went 8-1 SU in its final nine games overall. The Braves played a brutal non-conference schedule with 15 consecutive road games to start the season against the likes of Washington State, Gonzaga, Southern Illinois, Tulane, Houston, Wichita State, Tulsa, Baylor and Oklahoma. It's safe to say they are battle-tested.
Alcorn State is 20-8-1 ATS in its last 29 road games. The Braves are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games as road underdogs. Asking the Aggies to beat the Braves by 21-plus points to beat us is asking too much given the tough rest spot and their shaky mindset. Bet Alcorn State Tuesday.

NCAA-B | Cleveland State vs Xavier

Play on: Cleveland State +11 -110 at Ace

FREE PICK: Cleveland State Vikings +11
                  RATING: 30*
                  ROT#: 671
I'll gladly take my chances with Cleveland State as a 11-point dog against Xavier in Tuesday's opening round action in the NIT. For me, handicapping the NIT is all about motivation and figuring out what teams are actually going to show up.
I have a hard time believing the Musketeers will be excited about this game after a late season collapse saw them go from a NCAA Tournament lock to getting left out of the field of 68 completely.
While Cleveland State didn't exactly surge to the finish line either, they did earn a share of the Horizon regular-season title. They also went on the road in non-conference play and took Oklahoma State to OT, before eventually losing 93-93. That's a Oklahoma State team that I have rated very much higher than this Xavier team.
I also think Vikings will draw some motivation getting a chance to play a bigger program from their home-town state of Ohio. I not only think it will be enough to get the cover as a double-digit dog, it wouldn't shock me if Cleveland State won this game outright. Give me the Vikings +11!

Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the recent history of these two teams is particularly significant.
                      - The Devils are 17-45 in their last 62 games as an underdog.
                      - The Devils are 7-20 in their last 27 road games.
                      - The Canucks are 9-2 in their last 11 games as a favorite.
Verdict: Vancouver needs this game a lot more than the Devils do.

I think Vancouver should/could in fact be a much larger fav in this spot. The New Jersey Devils are 22-32-1-4, and they've been particularly bad on the road by going 8-18-1-1. The Canucks are 29-24-4-3, which includes going 13-11-3-1 at home. The Devils have won 3 of their last 4, but off a 2-1 shootout home win over the Ducks, I believe the Devils will struggle in the opener of their 3-game Western swing, which sees them in Calgary tomorrow night. Vancouver had its 3-game win streak snapped with B2B losses, albeit over some very stiff competition, falling 4-3 in OT to the Capitals here, before the losing 2-1 to the Lightning in their most recent action. They play with revenge here too after a 7-2 setback at New Jersey in late February. Consider Vancouver in this bounce-back position!

The Colorado Buffaloes have one of the best home-court advantages in the country. They are 12-5 at home this season and played some of their best basketball to close the season. The Buffaloes went 8-2 SU & 7-3 ATS in their final 10 games overall and actually upset Arizona 79-63 at home and played them tough again in the Pac-12 Tournament. St. Bonaventure is coming off a gut-wrenching 56-57 loss to St. Louis that cost them a chance at making the NCAA Tournament as they were on the bubble. They made the NCAA Tournament last year and will not be happy to be playing in the NIT this year. That will play a factor here as Colorado is the team that wants to be here more, especially playing at home. The Bonnies are 0-8 ATS against teams that average 6 or fewer steals per game this season. The Bonnies are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games. St. Bonaventure is 1-8 ATS in its last nine road games against a team with a winning home record. Give me Colorado.

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR TUESDAY, 3/15:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Tuesday was with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies plus the points versus the Colorado Buffaloes. St. Bonaventure (20-9) has lost two of their last three games after their 57-56 upset loss to Saint Louis in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Friday. The Bonnies have then covered the point spread in 6 of their last 7 games after playing a game where no more than 115 combined points were scored. They have also covered the point spread in 7 of their last 9 tournament games. Colorado (21-11) exited the Pac-12 Tournament with their 82-72 loss to Arizona as a 9-point underdog on Friday. They host this game in Boulder — but they are just 5-11-2 ATS in their last 18 games at home. They have also failed to cover the point spread in 6 of their last 8 games against teams who are winning at least 60% of their games. Take St. Bonaventure plus the points. Best of luck — Frank.
