    NHL Sharp Action

7 p.m. ET: Nashville Predators (39-24-4) at Buffalo Sabres (24-33-11)
These non-conference foes are trending in opposite directions. The Predators have won two straight and just beat the Senators 4-1, taking care of business as -225 home favorites. Nashville currently occupies the top Wild Card seed in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Sabres have lost three of their last four and just fell to Winnipeg 3-2, losing as +130 home dogs. Buffalo is well below the playoff threshold. This line opened with Nashville listed as a -170 road favorite and Buffalo a +150 home dog. Pros have laid the chalk with the Predators, steaming Nashville up from -170 to -190. Road favorites -175 or more are 107-39 (73%) this season. Favorites off a win are 396-205 (66%). Nashville also enjoys a rest advantage, having last played on Tuesday while Buffalo played Wednesday. The Sabres will also be playing their 3rd game in five days. Nashville is 22-13 as a favorite and 18-13 on the road. Buffalo is 22-42 as a dog and 12-16 at home.

9 p.m. ET: St. Louis Blues (37-20-9) at Edmonton Oilers (38-25-5)
Both of these Western Conference foes find themselves in the 3rd playoff spot in the respective divisions. The Blues have won two straight and just beat the Canucks 4-3, cashing as +100 road dogs. Similarly, the Oilers have also won two straight and just edged the Kings 4-3, cashing as -200 home favorites. This line opened with Edmonton listed as a modest -130 home favorite and St. Louis a +110 road dog. Sharps have laid the chalk with Edmonton at home, steaming the Oilers up from -130 to -140. Home favorites with a line move in their favor are 247-116 (68%). Edmonton is 31-16 as a favorite this season. St. Louis is 10-12 as a dog. We could also be looking at a higher scoring game in this one. The total is 6.5 with the over juiced to -120, signaling a possible rise to 7.

10 p.m. ET: Vegas Golden Knights (37-28-4) at Seattle Kraken (21-40-6)
These teams play each other for the second time in two nights, both of which take place in Seattle. The Knights beat the Kraken 3-0 on Wednesday, cashing as -150 road favorites. In tonight's rematch, Vegas opened as a -160 road favorite and Seattle a +140 home dog. Pros seem to be thinking "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," steaming Vegas up from -160 to -170. Road favorites are 259-148 (64%) this season. Seattle will be playing their third game in five days, while Vegas will be playing just their second game since March 27th. Vegas holds a distinct edge offensively (3.2 GPG vs 2.6 GPG for Seattle). The Knights are 27-16 as a favorite and 17-15 on the road. The Kraken are 13-37 as a dog and 11-19 at home. Motivation also favors Vegas, who is on the playoff bubble while Seattle has already been eliminated from postseason contention.

Aqueduct Picks: Long shot It's Gravy will be on April 1
              By J.N. Campbell

              Aqueduct Picks - Friday, April 1, 2022

              Race 1: 7-3-5-2
              Race 2: 1-6-2-5
              Race 3: 3-1-2-4
              Race 4: 5-3-2-4
              Race 5: 4-2-5-1
              Race 6: 2-4-1-5
              Race 7: 5-3-7-1
              Race 8: 4-10-5-2
**Most Likely: Seven Lilies #2 (Race 6)**
**Best Value: Sweet Surprise #4 (Race 5)**

Most Likely Winner: (Race 6: Seven Lilies #2, 5/2):

Trainer Rob Atras has solid numbers, and I like the look of his 7-yr-old gelding by Rattlesnake Bridge. This experienced sprinter is very “live” after a series of Aqueduct contests dating back to late November. Dylan Davis rode in all of those, and some of that company was pretty tough. Whistling Birds (Atras’ runner was 2nd against last out) just came back and won nicely last weekend. If Davis can take up a spot close to the lead, then he has a chance to sweep up and score.

              Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #2

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 5: Sweet Surprise #4, 8/1):

It is going to be no easy chore to dispatch the class dropper from Chad Brown’s barn, Waters of Merom #2. However, I think this filly by Not This Time is going to issue a statement that says precisely that … Bruce Brown did not have a particularly sparkling record over the Winter Meet, but a new one is upon us. Tedesco Racing must have thought the conditioner could do a good job because they made the move, coming over from Tim Hills. I want to give this filly another shot at this level, and the best news is that she gets the “leading rider” from the Winter in Dylan Davis. He has the ability to get to the wire 1st … Should be a great price vs. that Brown underlay.

              Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #4 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, 6

Oaklawn Park: Atras' Maracuja '22 debut on April 1
                By J.N. Campbell

Oaklawn Park Picks - Friday, April 1, 2022

                Race 1: 7-2-1-4
                Race 2: 8-4-7-1
                Race 3: 7-5-3-1
                Race 4: 2-8-1/A-5
                Race 5: 6-3-7-9
                Race 6: 6-2-4-5
                Race 7: 4-2-8-6
                Race 8: 5-3-1-4
                Race 9: 2-8-3-6
**Most Likely: Ruggs #6 (Race 6)**
**Best Value: Nic And Zoe #2 (Race 9)**

Most Likely Winner: (Race 6: Ruggs #6, 7/2):

With a pair of powerful Steve Asmussen runners entered in this high-level OC100kn1x event around 2-turns, this is the perfect time to take a stand against the HOF-er. I have watched Ron Moquett’s Ruggs #6 each time he has run during the OP Meet (4x), and he never looks like he has much of a fastball when he needs it most. In his defense, he has been up against some tough divisional talent. When you have to take on Kavod, Dash Attack, and Zozos ... these are not going to be runners that you can easily beat. I think Moquett's charge gets a much better group to take on this time, and if David Cabrera can get to the lead from that outside post, I think he can get the win. The Asmussen underlays will take money … hence the attribution … so, it is a magnificent time to go with Moquett’s entry. He runs a fabulous barn, and I like it when he gets together with Cabrera.

                Wagering Recommendation: $100 Win, #6

Off-the-Pace Play of the Day: (Race 9: Nic and Zoe #2, 6/1):

Greg Compton is not a household name when it comes to conditioners, but if you look at his barn during this Meet, then you will find some consistency. He has 4 wins out of 25 starts, and against this kind of competition, that is not too shabby. Compton got aggressive last time, entering his mare by Street Boss in an ALLW100n1x. That did not go terribly well, but the experience told him what he needed to do next. A drop into this race appears more than appropriate, and I like the fact that John Court gets the call again. Two-back, he rated nicely aboard this 5-yr-old, winning from just behind the leader. This one is a sprinter through-and-through, and I like Compton’s chances to get to the Larry Snyder Winner’s Circle at a bit of a price.

                Wagering Recommendation: $100 Bankroll, Graduated Wager WPS #2 ($10-W, $15-P, $75-S)

                Spotlight Race of the Day: (Race 8: Dirt, 1 1/16th, OC100kn4L, F&M 4+):

One of the most competitive races across North America on this Friday might be this race … an OC100kn4L, which is a tough conditioner. Out of this 6-pack of older female runners, most will recognize the name of Rob Atras’ Maracuja #3. The filly is now a 4-yr-old, but she made some serious noise last year when she beat Todd Pletcher’s Malathaat at 15/1 in the Grade 1 Coaching Club Oaks. Even though she had difficulty in the Alabama (G1), also a Saratoga, and the Cotillion (G1) at Parx, it still was a banner year for this filly by Honor Code. The question, of course, that is natural to ask, concerns her fitness. If she has matured, and trained efficiently, then she deserves to be the odds-on favorite. I want to use her in my exotic bets, but I much prefer a runner like Jerry Hollendorfer’s Miss Imperial #5. There is no question that this daughter of Maclean’s Music is headed up the class ladder. That is what you absolutely want to see. This race will be another test for her, especially considering the company and condition. Still, I like her breaking ability from the gate, and she should be able to game with this crowd. One other runner that looks pretty interesting is John Ortiz’s Lil Kings Princess #1. A filly by Street Boss, she comes into this spot with a pair of victories to her credit … will it be 3 in-a-row? Cristian Torres is riding well of late, and we know that Ortiz is a top conditioner. He is moving up the register with this one, but she very well could win, especially if Atras’ entry needs a race. Let’s put together a Trifecta ticket that brings all of these females together.

                Wagering Recommendation: $2 Trifecta Wheel, 5 w 1/3 w 1/3

Rocket Picks : Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park, and Aqueduct for April 1, 2022
                    By: Aaron Halterman

The massive week of racing continues today! For the free pick 4, we will head to Gulfstream Park for the late sequence on the card! We will also have full card selections for Oaklawn Park and Aqueduct for the paid Rockets, so be sure to check those out. Let’s go!

Below is our free Late Pick 4 for Gulfstream Park:

                    Gulfstream Park April 1, 2022

                    Race 6: Claiming

#2 Passion Plus will take a nice drop down in class for this race, which always helps, while she also moves back to the turf today. #6 Alpha Babe was a winner last time out over this turf course, but must move up in class today, while running for a new barn.

                    Race 7: Claiming

#3 Lusitano drops down in claiming price for this race after a non-competitive effort last time out. Look for him to bounce back today. #6 Blessed Journey runs first off the claim for a solid barn today, while getting Jose Ortiz aboard, which is a great sign he is ready to fire.

                    Race 8: Allowance Optional Claiming

#3 Shekky Shebaz always shows up with a solid effort at this level. He has not won in a while, though, but today looks like a solid spot for him. #6 Jack and Noah returns off of a layoff today, but looks to be the class of the field, and will be tough if he is ready to fire.

                    Race 9: Starter Allowance

#1 Yamato has been awesome over the synthetic at this meet winning two races that look a little tougher than what he will face today. #7 Outshine runs second off of the claim for Delgado after a poor effort last time out. He has previous efforts that are good enough to win here, though.

                    THE TICKET

                    $.50 Pick 4 (Races 6-9) 2,3,6,8 / 1,3,6,8 / 1,3,4,6 / 1 – $32
