Rockies (8:40PM ET ATTRM, NBCSBA, MLB.TV) – We finish the week strong as the Nats and Hanwha get it done on Saturday and after a pass on Sunday I’m back in action in MLB with a 5% MAX BET when the Colorado Rockies kick off a three-game set with the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.
I’ve been looking for the right spot to jump in with a fade of the Giants and I think that spot is here. First, San Francisco is in the unenviable spot of having to play a road game after a road game on Sunday Night Baseball. What that means is San Francisco had to play in the prime time spot last night and they now they travel without an off day which, throughout history, has been a solid fade. San Francisco also got just 3.2 innings out of Carlos Rodon last night which means the Giants bullpen had to work extra and now faces a Rockies lineup that has been one of the better in baseball this season and just saw this San Fran pitching staff last week in San Francisco. Colorado did not have to travel, the Rockies are a far better team at home and there’s a solid revenge angle in play as the Giants just swept them last week. On top of all of that we are getting a cheap price on the run head start and I think Colorado wins or at least plays the Giants tight enough to stay within the margin here.
Let’s start with Colorado, they give the ball to Antonio Senzatela who is a very average starter on paper but the Rockies keep him around because he knows how to pitch at Coors Field. Senzatela has a career ERA of 4.85 but, when you consider he’s been in the league since 2017 and has only played for the Rockies, that mark is actually very respectable. The narrative here is that the Giants own the Rockies and own Senzatela (which is true) but what’s also true is Colorado is 11-2 in Senzatela’s last 13 starts at Coors Field. Colorado isn’t playing in many pitchers duels, there will likely be runs from both sides here so I like the fact I’m getting a pitcher in Senzatela that knows how to “weather the storm” at Coors as well as anyone. The Colorado bullpen has the worst ERA in the league but, again, that’s to be expected as Coors has played like the “launching pad” that it is. I actually think Colorado’s bullpen has been better than advertised so far this season and Coors Field is a bit of an equalizer to a San Francisco bullpen that has been hit hard of late as well and, in reality, is only slightly better. Throw in the fact Colorado just got to see all San Francisco’s relivers last week and the Giants bullpen was used up in the Cardinals series and that’s a big time equalizer despite the Rockies (specifically for their pitching) are seen as underdogs here. I’ll call the pitching situations on both sides about even and I think that means we have a nice edge getting a run head start with the Rockies at home where they historically are just a much better team.
San Francisco counters with Alex Wood, he’s having a solid season so far with a 3.60 ERA and 1.37 WHIP but the Rockies just saw him last week and have seen him a ton over the years. Colorado managed seven hits off of Wood, they just couldn’t cash in with RISP, so that start on paper looks better than it actually was for Wood. Wood has pitched well at Coors but this is still not a pitcher friendly ballpark and I think the far more relevant thing here is the Rockies get to face him after he “shut them down” last week. The game last week where Senzatela faced Wood the Giants won 9-2 so San Francisco being the “better team” is probably “overbaked” into the line here. I think the fact these two teams will face off again in Coors is an equalizer, we will probably see some offense from San Francisco but we should see runs from the Rockies here as well. I know a high scoring game makes the +1.5 less valuable but I still think at -115 getting the run to work with is the correct way to play it here.
In the end I love this spot for the Rockies to snap a lengthy losing streak against the Giants. San Francisco is in a great fade spot playing on the road after a road Sunday Night Baseball game and the +1.5 is way cheaper than it should be. Play on Rockies +1.5 (-115) for 5% (or 5 units)

                                Twins -130 over A’s
                                Archer/Logue
The A’s are a struggling team who has yet to show any home-field advantage. Oakland is bad against right-handed pitchers, and I don’t have any confidence they can score runs on the regular. Minnesota is the top team in the AL Central with more top to bottom talent. Take the Twins.
