TENGO SED - Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Certainly on edge for a good one today. May have to invest in this horse in this contest. He has been claimed in each of his last two starts. TAPIT AT MIDNIGHT - After the event aboard this animal on May 21st, the rider is going to know the gelding much better. Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a sharp effort in the last race within the last month or so. Trainer, Johnston, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. Horse made up some ground in the lane last out on May 21st at Emerald Downs. That affair is better than it looked. MASTER RECOVERY - This entrant could be tough this time, especially since Matias rode in the last race and now should be acquainted with this one. Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a nice race last time around the track within the last month.

UPPER ROOM - This probable favorite ran on Apr 25th and hasn't had a blow out since. CREST DRIVE - Will be tough for this horse to beat this bunch off of that last speed rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put him on the possibly overvalued contestants list. SPARKLING LUTE - Can't bet on this mount in today's sprint of 6 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't even hit the board in a short distance event lately. This entrant hasn't shown much effort in the last two events.

WNBA | Liberty vs Mystics

Friday WNBA Free play. My selection is on the 'over' between New York and Washington at 7 pm et on Friday.
The 'under' has cashed in six straight games involving the Mystics but I look for a different story to unfold on Friday. Tonight's opponent, the New York Liberty, have allowed each of their last four opponents to get off 70+ field goal attempts. Meanwhile, Washington is fresh off one of its best offensive showings of the season, scoring 87 points on 33-of-72 shooting against Indiana. I expect the Mystics to keep it rolling here. The question is whether the Liberty can contribute enough offensively to help this one 'over' the total. I believe they can, noting that Washington has allowed 28 made field goals and just north of 74 points per game at home this season. All three meetings between these two teams last season easily eclipsed the total we're working with tonight. Expect more of the same here. Take the over.

It was the most improbable sweep of the season so far. The Pirates are coming off a three-game sweep of the Dodgers.
Now, following an off day yesterday, the Pirates host Arizona. The Diamondbacks are a respectable 25-27, pushing to get to .500. Pittsburgh is 22-27 and 0-9 the past nine times when playing following an off day.
Arizona is going with Merrill Kelly. He has a 3.67 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. The Pirates are starting JT Brubaker, who is 0-4 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. Advantage Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks have defeated the Pirates 11 of the past 13 times in Pittsburgh.
Arizona is the better team. The Pirates are in their first letdown series of the season. So I'll take the Diamondbacks.

I feel that the Pirates are offering us some value as slight underdogs here. The Pirates just won three straight against the Dodgers. Not many teams have been able to say that in recent years. Brubaker gets the call and he's in excellent form. The Pirates have won each of his past two starts; Brubaker allowed just two combined runs, both of which were unearned, through 11 2/3 innings. On the other hand, Kelly is 0-2 (team is 0-3) with a terrible 10.50 ERA and 2.167 WHIP, his past three starts. Consider Pittsburgh.

Yes he is a solid pitcher but still this is keeping this total too low as he should be reached for at least a couple runs here and Velasquez likely to get rocked. The Chicago starter has a 7.20 ERA last 3 starts and a 6.75 ERA on the road this season. McClanahan gave up 7 hits in 5 innings when he faced the White Sox last season. Velasquez has been hit hard in each of last two starts versus Rays. The over is 4-0 in Chicago's 4 games entering this one.
