MLB | Mariners vs Rangers
Play on: Mariners -111 at SC Consensus
1 Unit FREE PLAY on Seattle Mariners -111
The Seattle Mariners have won four of their last six while scoring at least 6 runs in all four victories. Now they have their ace in Logan Gilbert going tonight to continue their momentum. Gilbert is 5-2 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 10 starts this season, and 3-1 with a 2.04 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in six road starts. Gilbert is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in four previous starts against the Rangers as well. Dane Dunning is 1-3 with a 4.31 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 10 starts for the Rangers. Dunning is 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in two previous starts against the Mariners. Seattle is 15-4 in Gilbert's last 19 starts with a money line of -125 to +125. Give me the Mariners.
#926 ASA FREE PLAY ON Kansas City +120 over Houston, Friday at 8:10 PM ET - We’re plugging our nose and taking KC on the money line here. The Royals are obviously struggling this season but much of that has been due to pitching. Their overall offensive numbers are fairly close to what Houston’s are and KC, in fact, has a higher batting average than the Astros. Brady Singer has been the one bright spot in the Royals starting rotation. They’ve won 2 of his 3 starts since he broke into the rotation in mid May. He’s allowed just 3 ER’s in his 3 starts while striking out 20 with only 3 walks and he's facing a Houston offense that ranks 21st in RPG and 25th in batting average. This will be the Astros 7th straight road game. KC is finally home after a long 9 game road swing and they had yesterday off to rest up at home. The Royals are averaging 4.3 RPG over their last 10 and Houston has put up just 3.2 RPG over their last 10. KC should have success vs Houston starter Urquidy who has an ERA of 7.21 on the road with a WHIP of nearly 2.00. In his last 2 road starts, Urquidy has allowed 9 ER’s on 24 hits spanning just 9.2 innings. His overall ERA is 4.88 but his xERA is 6.20. We realize KC’s bullpen numbers haven’t been good but Singer has gone at least 7 innings in 2 of his 3 starts so they may not need much help from the relievers late. We like the Royals at home as a money line underdog in this one.
Play - Kansas City Royals w/Singer vs Urquidy (Game 926).
Edges - Royals: Singer 0.00 ERA with 0.79 WHIP at home this season; and 20 Ks with 3 BBs last three starts … Astros: Urquidy 7.09 ERA with 1.88 WHIP away as opposed to 1.47 ERA with 1.15 WHIP at home this season … With that, we recommend a 1* play on Kansas City. Thank you and good luck as always. *Note: All pitchers' records are team starts.
Friday's Free MLB Pick: Colorado Rockies +164
I'll take my chances with the Rockies as a big +164 home dog against the Braves on Friday. This is just too good a price to pass up on Colorado at home. Rockies are a respectable 16-13 at home this season, where they are scoring 6.1 runs/game and hitting .283 as a team.
Atlanta will have a pretty good starter going in lefty Max Fried, but no starter is a lock to pitch well at Coors Field and this Rockies team has put up an average of 5.6 runs/game and are hitting .292 as a team in 17 games this season vs a left-handed starter.
I also think Colorado starter Chad Kuhl is a bit undervalued. He's 4-2 with a 3.56 ERA and 1.271 WHIP in 9 starts. He's got a strong 1.041 WHIP in 3 home starts. Last two times out, he's given up just 3 ER over 10 2/3 innings. He's also got a 2.45 ERA over 2 career starts vs the Braves. Give me the Rockies +164!
