Al Cimaglia: Hoosier Park Late Pick 4 Analysis

      June 10, 2022 | By Al Cimaglia

Hoosier Park has a 13-race card set for tonight featuring Indiana three-year-olds in Sires Stakes action. The 0.50 Late Pick 4 starts in Race 10, and it will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

      Race 10

1-Soaring Now (3-1)-Falling just short to Ponda Warrior is nothing to be embarrassed about. Has a shot to take top honors versus this crew in the 3rd start off the bench. Drawing the rail shouldn't hurt chances.
5-Fulfullnmydestiny (8/5)-Raced from the back in the 1st start of the season and came the back half in 54.3, the last panel in 26.1. That was a successful performance in the 1st race since 10-22 and will be tough to beat with a top effort.

      Race 11

3-Dalby Hanover (8-1)-Finished a well-beaten 6th after being parked the entire opening half in its season debut. Putnam shouldn't have an issue working a better trip here and will swing for a price if Ponda has an off-night.
4-Ponda Warrior (9/5)-Looking for the 3rd straight win in the 3rd start as a 3-year-old. Some symmetry and looks like the colt to beat with a post edge over the one below.
8-JK Victory (2-1)-Joined the Burke barn after arriving from M1 and drew off by 4 lengths to score at 3/5. That was only the 2nd win in 8 lifetime starts but it looks like there is more in the tank.

      Race 12

1-Rockin Speed (5/2)-This will be a good test but likes to race at the top of the stack and that plan could happen. Has hit the board in 26 of 50 starts at HoP with 8 pictures and deserves respect.
5-General Dolan (9/2)-Has been facing tougher and this is a much better spot to snag the 5th win of the year. Has the speed to get on the engine and Tetrick should be aggressive versus this group.

      Race 13

1-Colonel Bayama (8-1)-Four-year-old makes its 3rd start for the JL Adam barn and fits in a contest that isn't easy to read. Loses Bates but Putnam could work an efficient trip and this race could play out for a price shot.
2-Ima Real Ladys Man (15-1)-Not expecting 15-1 but is only 1-15 this year and Bates lands here sticking with Smith. Has been stuck outside in the last 3 starts and was used early in miles. Tonight's post draw could make a winning difference in a race without a standout.
8-Uncmprmising Z Tam (6-1)-Drops and was a beaten chalk the last time facing this kind. That effort came on a "good" track where this veteran's record is only 1-24. Best to not overlook tonight.
10-Odds On Osiris (5/2)-Drops to the softest spot of the meet, the 2nd tier isn't a great starting spot but #1 and #2 do have some gate speed. This program chalk bagged its last win on 4-24 when facing this kind and could be a good steer away from another picture.

      0.50 Late Pick 4

      1,5/3,4,8/1,5/1,2,8,10
      Total Bet=$24

Jeff Siegel's Santa Anita Analysis/Workout Commentary for 6-10-22

        June 10, 2022

“What You Need to Know” - Santa Anita
By Jeff Siegel, 1stbet.com Handicapper & Analyst

Specifically designed for the rolling exotic player, Jeff Siegel’s Daily Santa Anita Handicapping Analysis, Wagering Strategies, Workout Commentary, and True Odds Calculations (“TOC”) identify those horses that should be included in daily doubles, pick-3s, pick-4s, pick-5s, and the pick-6.
        *
The “TOC” quantifies the findings of a personal thoroughbred analytics program that contains in its database the results of every race contested at Santa Anita since 2004. More than 75 critical factors in the fields of class, distance, surface, age, and sex have created 227 algorithms that are highly specific to the race being handicapped. The result is a probability line that reflects each contender’s true odds based on a pure 100-point takeout.

The “TOC” applies its mathematical formula only to non-maiden races and displays a maximum of four runners considered the most likely contenders to win. Also listed is the specific algorithm’s sample size plus the top-rated horse’s win percentage and return on investment (ROI). It is suggested that the player utilize the program’s findings to compare each contender’s “true odds” with the morning line and/or actual wagering odds to identify potential overlays and underlays.

Also-eligible runners are not included in any of the calculations until verified as actual starters. When possible, adjustments to the “TOC” will be updated after late scratches.

For additional commentary, follow us on twitter @jsiegelracing.

        RACE 1: Post: 1:00 PT Grade: B
        Single: 6-Park City

Forecast: There are lots of question marks in the Friday opener, a five-furlong turf sprint for juveniles, none of whom have been on grass since being weaned. Except in just one case, the first timers have been less than impressive in the morning, though a few could show a lot more while tasting the sod. Let’s take a stand and single Park City despite the statistical fact that the barn (at last count) is winless in 16 starts with debut runners. A promising recent gate work (see below) points him out as a colt with some talent, though we’re not entirely sure how quick he is. With Galileo on the bottom, the D. Blacker-trained son of Street Sense should handle turf, so in a race that we’ll probably not get too involved in, we’ll take a stand with this $200,000 Keeneland yearling purchase at 7/2 on the morning line and simply hope to be right.

        Notable Workouts:

Major Nyquist (May 22, Santa Anita, 5f, 1:02.4hg). Grade: C+
In company with Chicknfingerfriday (5f, 1:02.3hg, off poorly) and really didn’t show a whole lot, leading early but with slow fractions of :25.4, and :38.3 (not asked much) but never really picking it up when engaged on the turn, winding up second best and slower than given, :50.3 and 1:03.2 on our watches for D. O’Neill. Was hoping to see more, down the road type, it would appear.
        View Workout Video

        President Z (May 28, Santa Anita, 4f, :47.3hg). Grade: C+
Second best while being outrun in gate drill with Laurel River (5f, 1:00hg) for E. Hardy, not asked much but steadily dropping back with splits of :24.1, :35.4 and :48 flat on our watches, about three lengths behind when eased up after a half. Would prefer to see one first.
        View Workout Video

        Bear Mountain (June 4, 2022, 5f, 1:01.1hg). Grade: C+
In blinkers, not asked early but was ridden pretty good late in gate drill with Lt.’s Choice (same time) and Honey’s Hope (5f, 1:03.4hg), splits of:24 flat, :35.4, :48 flat and 1:01.2 on our watches, slightly best outside at the wire while pretty much all out. Nothing special on dirt but is bred for turf on both sides of his pedigree so perhaps grass is in his future.
        View Workout Video

Park City (June 4, Santa Anita, 4f, :48.2hg). Grade: B
Breezing outside Quarantella (same time) for D. Blacker, easy early under a hold in :25 flat before picking it up entering the turn (not asked) in :36.2 and :48 flat on our watches while slightly best, able to go much quicker if permitted. Looks like a nice sort and should be ready for a good effort first time out. Seems pretty fit.
        View Workout Video

        Zookeeper (May 30, Santa Anita, 5f, 1:02hg). Grade: C+
Driven hard and ridden from the gate to display early speed in company with Man Child and Theuntouchableone (same time) and remained under pressure throughout while earning splits of :23.3, :35.3, :47.4 and 1:02 flat, tiring in the final stages while appearing slightly third best. Has a bit of early speed but could use a bit more stick.
        View Workout Video

Sharp Aza Tack (May 29, Santa Anita, 5f, 1:01.1hg). Grade: C+
Second best outside Vegas Magic (5f, 1:01.2hg, never really asked much) while going slower than given on our watches and winding up more than a length back when eased up at the furlong pole, splits of :24.3, :36.3, :49.1 and 1:02 flat, ridden some on the turn while showing a tendency to lug out (same as in previous gate drill) and then doing a bit better when straightened for home. Brought $100,00 at the OBS March Sale after working a furlong in :10 flat (ridden hard) but was below expectation here and is a questionable type at this stage due to his turn issues.

        RACE 2: Post: 1:35 PT Grade: B-
Use (in order of preference): 1-Starship Defiant; 4-Zahra

Forecast: Starship Defiant (TOC=4/5; ML=2-1) stretches out again, lands the rail, and seems certain to employ gate-to-wire tactics. A repeat of her race before last, a runner-up in a $20,000 restricted (nw-3) affair over this track and distance, should be good enough to handle this open $12,500 event for fillies and mares. Zahra (2-1; ML=95) is worth including somewhere on your ticket as well. First or second in four of five career starts over the Santa Anita main track, the S. Knapp-trained mare has beaten our top pick in the past and projects to enjoy an ideal second flight stalking trip and then have every chance from the quarter pole home.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 3: Post: 2:09 PT Grade: B+
Use (in order of preference): 8-Green Eyed Lady; 6-Quarantella

Forecast: Here’s another five-furlong turf sprint for juveniles, this one for fillies. Green Eyed Lady has looked nice in a pair of local workouts and appears fit and ready for a major effort first time out. The M. McCarthy-trained daughter of Oscar Performance is bred strictly for grass and should be tough to outrun with a clean break from her outside draw. Quarantella, a daughter of More Than Ready and therefore bred to excel on the lawn, is another that has done some good work in the a.m. to indicate the kind of ability that can be dangerous at first asking. The barn isn’t known to crank them up first time out, but this filly should be quite competitive on raw ability alone. We’ll give Green Eyed Lady the slight edge on top but include both in rolling exotic play.

        Notable Workouts:

Sell the Dream (May 29, Santa Anita, 5f, 1:03.3h). Grade: C+
Went off slowly without being asked (:25.4, :37.3, was asked to be it up through the lane but lost her punch in the late stages while appearing a bit erratic, up in 1:03.2 on our watches. Let’s see one first.
        View Workout Video

        Quarantella (June 4, Santa Anita, 4f, :48.2hg). Grade: B
Stride-for-stride inside Park City (same time) without being asked while perhaps a tad second best but looking fine in easy breeze for D. Blacker, splits of :25 flat, :36.2 and :48 flat, not asked to the turn and then picking up the cadence without being asked. More Than Ready filly has some run and based on pedigree seems likely to debut on grass.
        View Workout Video

Green Eyed Lady (June 5, Santa Anita, 3f, :36hg). Grade: B
Hooked in with American Anthem (4f, :47.2h) and finished down the lane with that one while breezing throughout, final quarter mile in a sharp :24 flat. Moves like a decent type and gets over the ground nicely though bred on both sides strictly for turf. Daughter of Oscar Performance has some quality, for sure.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 4: Post: 2:43 PT Grade: X
        Single: 2-So it Would Seem

Forecast: So It Would Seem had no visible excuse when fourth as the even money favorite in a maiden $50,000 turf sprint last month. She was claimed out of that race by R. Hanson, who drops her to the $40,000 level, returns her to dirt, and removes blinkers. In a woefully weak field for the level, the daughter of Honor Code can easily outrun her foes with anything close to her best race, so as a logical short-priced favorite 4/5 morning line favorite she can be used as a rolling exotic single in a race that should otherwise be left alone.

        __________________________________________________ ___________________________
        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 5: Post: 3:17 PT Grade: B-
Use (in order of preference): 7-Goldini 3-Bud Knight

Forecast: Bud Knight (TOC=4/5; ML=2-1) is among the worst kind of short-priced favorites you can encounter. Untrustworthy and without a winning punch, the son of Tizbud has won one race from 25 career starts while finishing second or third 13 times, usually at single-digit odds. Second in his last start when five lengths clear of the rest, the L. Powell-trained gelding will be heavily backed again by default in this modest restricted (nw-2) $25,000 claiming turf miler, and while it wouldn’t be surprising to see him clunk up and win, he’ll not offer any wagering value at or near his morning line of 2-1. There is a viable alternative in the field, and that’s Goldini (TOC=5/2; ML=5/2). In the frame in four of eight starts over the local lawn, he drops to his lowest level ever, is competitive on speed figures, and exits a much stronger, productive race. With a proper patient ride, he can be along in time.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________
        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 6: Post: 3:49 PT Grade: B-
Use (in order of preference): 1-Increase Stakes; 5-Tizzy Twister

Forecast: Increased Stakes (TOC=3-1; ML=3-1) didn’t get the best of runs when fourth as the favorite in a similar state-bred allowance optional claimer in mid-April but with a clean start from the rail the daughter of Square Eddie should be capable of making amends. A repeat of her race-before-last on turf should be good enough, and even though both of her career wins were accomplished on grass we suspect she can be just as effective on dirt. A sharp recent half mile workout (:46 2/5) should have her on edge. Tizzy Twister (TOC=5/2; ML=3-1, a winner of two of her last three outings but much slower on pure numbers than are top pick, likely has further room to improve and can be included on a ticket or two as a back-up or a saver.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________
        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 7: Post: 4:20 PT Grade: B-
Use (in order of preference): 7-Aventapp; 2-M Is for Magic

Forecast: Aventapp (TOC=2-1; ML=4-1) looks capable of inheriting the role as the controlling speed in this extended grass sprint and if she can clear without pressure the daughter of Tapiture can roll all the way to the wire. In the frame in all four starts this year, the M. Glatt-trained filly retains T. Baze and can win with her best effort. Though she was beaten on the square at 4/5 on the morning line in a maiden $50,000 over the local lawn last time and remains winless in 14 career starts, M Is for Magic (TOC=8/5; ML=7/2) is major contender based strictly on speed figures and in fact is the preferred pick of the analytics. In a race that projects to have soft early fractions, the daughter of Magician should be within range throughout and have every chance when the pressure is turned on. We’ll try to get by using just these two in rolling exotic play.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________
        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 8: Post: 4:51 PT Grade: B+
        Single: 2-Lisette

Forecast: Lisette (TOC=8/5; ML=9/5) was out of her element in the Santa Margarita S.-G2 but is realistically spotted today in this five-runner allowance optional claimer for fillies and mares. A repeat of her race before last – a strong third place effort in a listed stakes for older fillies and mares at Sunland Park – should be good enough to return the daughter of Uncle Mo to winning form, so at 9/5 on the morning line we’ll make the P. Gallagher-trained filly a win play and rolling exotic single.

        __________________________________________________ ____________________________
        __________________________________________________ ____________________________

        RACE 9: Post: 5:21 PT Grade: B-
Use (in order of preference): Team Concept ; 8-Rock the Bourbon

Forecast: The finale is a maiden claiming turf miler for fillies and mares. Team Concept, in the money in her last pair over the local lawn, has numbers that fit and a good stalking style that should guarantee a favorable trip. With the switch to leading jockey J. Hernandez, the daughter of Acclamation is the one to beat. Rock the Bourbon shows up in a claimer for the first time and should greatly appreciate the class drop. She has numbers that can win and figures to be heard from late. Both should be included in rolling exotic play.

Belmont Park Late Pick 4 | Friday, June 10

          June 10, 2022 | By Frank Carulli

The report cards are out, seeing who will make the grade in the Belmont Late Pick 4 Friday, a lineup that features the Grade I New York Stakes, Grade II Belmont Gold Cup and True North and the Grade III Intercontinental on the turf, respectively. If you hit the 50-cent wager, a big payout could await. Here’s a look at the action:

BEL 8th race (4:42 EST) -- ABAAN is the most proven graded-stakes performer, one of two entrants to win at today’s 2-mile distance and the controlling speed. But the $400,000 Belmont Gold Cup invitational attracted proven turf marathoners who were based in five countries in 2021, including Germany invader LOFT, who has a 9/2-3-2 record in stakes company this year, all at 1-1/2 miles or longer. More than half the entrants will test the Belmont lawn for the first time, so hit the ‘ALL’ button to start the sequence.

BEL 9th race (5:17 EST) -- JACKIE’S WARRIOR (8-10, $1.7 million) picked up where he left off as 2021 champion sprinter with a pair of wire-to-wire graded stakes wins under minimal urging. He got away easy in the G-I Churchill Downs at 7F, but he carries 124-pound high weight in the $300,000 True North and his speed figures to be tested by the razor-sharp MR. PHIL, who draws the rail off three consecutive, front-end allowance victories for his new connections. BABY YODA, who posted last year’s second-best Beyer speed figure (114) at Saratoga the only time he ran 6-1/2F, appears rounding to a big effort off a pair of comeback starter allowance victories that produced a total of four next-out winners. He’s worth using on the ticket if the front-end battle ensues.

BEL 10th race (5:50 EST) -- Trainer Chad Brown has four of the seven fillies and mares entered in the G-1, $750,000 New York Stakes at 1-1/4 miles on the turf – and three are coming off graded victories. ROUGIR, a Group 1 winner in France, ranged up 4-wide and kicked into gear in the final sixteenth to win the G-3 Beaugay going away. VIRGINIA JOY controlled the pace on a yielding Belmont lawn to win by 14-1/4 lengths in the G-II Sheepshead Bay. BLEECKER STREET made a last-to-first move into a slow pace in the G-III Modesty at Churchill Downs. Brown’s 27-percent ‘repeat’ win rate could take a slight hit, even if he wins. But his entrants are uncoupled in the wagering, so use the ‘ALL’ button once again.

BEL 11th race (6:22 EST) -- The 13 entrants in the $200,000 Intercontinental Stakes are a combined 38-106 on the turf with $223,000 in average earnings. TOBYS HEART, a $647k earner, rallied to win all three of her 5-1/2F turf stakes races -- the latest against multiple G-III winner Change of Control (8-25, $700k on turf) – and now gets an extra half-furlong to cover. CARAVEL is a Grade III winner and 8-for-10 when taking on fillies and mares. ROBIN SPARKLES and FLOWER POINT are a combined 11-27 with three grass stakes wins between them. JOUSTER is 3-8 and the only G-II winner in the field. All that being said, MISS J McKAY gets the call as today’s Pick 4 solo despite drawing outside. She defeated more of an allowance-caliber field in the License Fee Stakes last out, but she did it stylishly, tracking the leader while in-hand until she exploded clear in mid-stretch.

            Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

            Charles Town - Race #6
            Picks Notes
#6 River Rewards RVF Forward player meets a handful of other threats who want to settle a touch further off it, and I think she gets the jump into the far turn and holds sway late.
#7 Boundtobeok She briefly chased before that hard fade last out, but that was her first try off a lengthy layoff, and there are some pretty hefty running lines here from last year. Wouldn't be shocked to see her bounce back today.
#2 Aim's Jubilee She's a pretty reliable type that stacks up pretty well here, but she's racing above her condition and will need her very best. Not out of the question.
Race Summary River Rewards RVF is probably capable of something a bit better than she showed when fading a bit late last time out, and she has the ability to settle just a touch off the pace and let this unfold early on.

            Charles Town - Race #7
            Picks Notes
#1 Knot Anymore Think she might take a shot from the fence with the other speed drawn further outside, and her two local tries have both been super easy scores. Think she can step up again tonight.
#4 Star of Night Not going to spend any time arguing with anyone who lands here at a short price -- she's 11-for-14 lifetime and has landed a bunch of WV-bred stakes races. She's probably tough from a good spot spying the top choice.
#7 Moonlit Shadow Reliable finisher looks for her third in a row, and she might land a good pressing trip from this high draw. Slight worry that she's sitting on a step back after that last one.
Race Summary Knot Anymore might be the right one to take a shot against the heavy chalk Star of Night, as she'll be stepping up off a sharp score and has a small, but perfect, local record to put on the line tonight.

            Charles Town - Race #8
            Picks Notes
#1 At the Half It has been a long time since she landed one, but her form is super reliable, and there is not a whole lot of depth in this spot while she drops in for half the price here. Think she gets over the top tonight.
#8 U S Funds Her form hasn't been much so far this year, but she's capable of something better than she has shown of late, and maybe she's quick enough to find a good spot early and hang for a piece at a price.
#2 Three Bops She has appreciated the drop in for this claiming price, and she figures to be rallying late again with these after scoring nicely last time out. Capable here.
Race Summary At the Half looks tough while dropping in, and I'll try to get that one in at a short kind of price with U S Funds hopefully sticking in the frame to boost the gimmicks.

              Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

              The Meadows - Race #2
              Picks Notes
#4 CHUCK THE CHEESE Returns to winning level, can stalk and pounce, good value play.
#1 PACK YOUR BAGS Couldn’t hold off fave in repeat try, Wilder’s choice of three.
#5 BUTTER UP Rallied into lively pace to win for fourth time this year.
Race Summary Chuck The Cheese drops to the level of his last victory, picks up Wrenn to drive and projects an ideal stalking trip at a good price. Play 4-1 and 4-5 exactas.

              Woodbine-Mohawk Park - Race #1
              Picks Notes
#5 SHADOW IN RED Can keep followers in his shadow with a duplicate of latest.
#1 PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE Followed move of 15-1 winner, ran second, moves outside in.
#7 DRAGON ENERGY Steady numbers, few results, third behind ‘Shadow’ last out.
Race Summary Shadow in Red wired the field as the odds-on favorite in a split division race that timed 3/5 of a second faster. No reason to think he won’t do it again in a prime spot to use his speed. Bet to win and place.

              Meadowlands - Race #1
              Picks Notes
#1 ZLATAN Meadowlands race two back was better than it appears.
#3 STORMY DANGLES Looms forward factor throughout off ‘tuff trip.’
#9 LIFE WELL LIVED Pulled out of third and past the troubled fave in win two back.
Race Summary Zlatan is a live price play if he duplicates his run at the Big M two starts ago. He took back to last, was slowed by dead cover in the third quarter and finished with interest while widest in the stretch. He should make his presence felt from the rail in an amateur drivers’ race. Bet to win and place.

On Friday, the opener at Belmont Park is a $90,000 event covering a mile. Commandperformance and Artorius are top contenders to win in this one.

Commandperformance is winless in five career starts, but competitive and has entered some tough races. He’s had trips in the Champagne Stakes (Gr. 1), (Gr. 1) TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, and Toyota Blue Grass (Gr. 1).

His best career finish was in the Champagne Stakes on October 2. The colt placed 2nd behind Jack Christopher by 2

                    Today’s horse racing tips – 10th June 2022
                    By: Racing and Sports

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 10.

                    DUBBO: RACE 7 @ 4:00 PM

JUSTFOUR (4) hasn't been far away all campaign, finishing just 1.8L off the winner at Gunnedah last start when running on from the rear. Expect her to sit closer from a favourable draw today and prove hard to beat. SCHILLER'S MYST (5) was always well back in Highway company last start but her form prior wasn't too bad. She'll need some luck from the draw, but she'll be right there when the whips are cracking. BONDADOSA (3) held on for a tight victory to break her maiden at Hawkesbury last time out and is well weighted after the 4kg claim. Back to country level today and she's not to be discounted. MATTER OF FACTOR (7) has some query in the soft going, but is drawn well up in trip and can't be left out. FOX SPIRIT (8) rattled home to just miss last time out. Watch for her late in the piece.
                    SELECTIONS: Backing Justfour to win.

                    TAREE: RACE 5 @ 3:05 PM

MASLINA (11) disappointed at Gunnedah but was right in it the two before including the latest here. She can bounce back with average luck from an outside gate. GOLDEN CHANCES (9) resumes and has trialled well at Hawkesbury. Usually needs a run but is in good hands and has the ability. Deserves to break through. PERFECTION MAN (3) also resumes and has shown enough to say he's a chance. Should come back better and he gets in well with the 3kg claim. OPAL GLORY (12) was in need of it first-up at the provincials. Has more up the sleeve and quick improvement is likely.
                    SELECTIONS: Going with Maslina.

                    SWAN HILL: RACE 4 @ 2:00 PM

KINGS CONSORT (1) has to be the one to beat coming off a strong closing fourth in the G3 SA Sires Produce Stakes at Morphettville. The winner of that race has since run well at G2 level in Queensland. Should be too good for these. QUANG TRI (10) is still a maiden but ran on well at Sale last time in a fast race and can make the next step. DEEP POINT (2) led and was run down over Wodonga last start. He's a small query at the trip but will give a sight again. MAGNASPIN (6) was solid at Caulfield last time out, finishing sixth. The run prior behind the promising Doull was good.
                    SELECTIONS: Kings Consort to win.

                    ROEBOURNE: RACE 3 @ 2:15 PM

PEPPIJACK (1) resumes from a spell of three months and is having his first try on a dirt track under new trainer Dean Cocivera. Finished eighth at Ascot over 1400m at the opening run last time in work. Should be poised just off the lead. Expected be in the finish. SOLEIL DE LUNE (5) raced below par at his last appearance four-and-a-half months ago when ninth over 1400m at Esperance. And should prove tough to beat. TEST OF STRENGTH (3) went forward and proved too strong last start, scoring with 1.75 lengths to spare over 1200m at Carnarvon, can win again. BLOCK OF LAND (4) was safely held last time out when sixth over 1720m at Narrogin nine weeks back. Backmarker who gets home hard. Solid claims on best form.
                    SELECTIONS: Peppijack to win.

                    ROEBOURNE: RACE 6 @ 4:10 PM

FLYING ARABIAN (3) returns from a four-and-a-half months break and did win first-up last time in work over 1100m at Esperance so can win fresh again. FOO TROUBLE (1) is building up to a win, the latest finishing third at Narrogin. Don't underestimate. SHINJU (2) returns from a spell of three-and-a-half months and is having his first run on dirt for a new yard. Finished tenth at Ascot over 1000m when first-up last time in work. Worth plenty of thought on an each-way basis. NORTHERN CHILL (4) was safely held when resuming last start over 1200m at Carnarvon, finishing ninth and beaten 13 lengths and is among the chances.
                    SELECTIONS: Flying Arabian to win.

Note: There will be some give in the turf. The course was yielding on Thursday.

                        EIGHTH RACE: 4-1-2-8

                        NINTH RACE: 6-3-4-5

                          # 5 TENAKEE 6/1

My choice for this race is FORBIDDEN FRUIT. Ought to compete solidly in the early pace battle which bodes well with this group of horses in this race. Ran a solid last race. Has been running solidly and has among the top speed in the race for today's distance. SEAPORT STORM - Has to be considered against this field displaying very good figures lately and an average Equibase speed fig of 59 under similar conditions. Will probably be one of the leaders of the group going into the midpoint of the affair. TENAKEE - Expect a solid performance with the class drop. If you look closely, this one has some longshot possibilities.

                            # 2 ROUGIR (FR) 6/5

                            # 4 CORE VALUES 15/1

                            # 3 VIRGINIA JOY (GER) 3/1

My selection here is ROUGIR (FR). She has been running well lately while recording sharp speed figures. Has strong early pace and will most likely fare strongly versus this group. A solid 114 avg Equibase class rating may give this filly a distinct class edge versus this group. CORE VALUES - Should be considered based on the very strong speed fig earned in the last contest. Oliver has well above average returns at this distance/surface. VIRGINIA JOY (GER) - Sound average Equibase Speed Figures in turf route races make this horse a contender. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this mare.
