MIRACLE OF HOPE - Sprinters that come back to the races quickly are generally good plays. I figure Evans is making a good move here. This filly can only be aided by the shorter distance. Not much pace in this race other than this racer. The latest fig of 66 is the best last race fig in the bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 LUCY K (ML=7/2), #3 LOW DOSE (ML=4/1), #1 CARELESS STAR (ML=9/2),

LUCY K - Not likely for this one to make a winning move with no recent good showings in a short distance event. LOW DOSE - Unlikely for this horse to do much running with no success lately in a sprint event. CARELESS STAR - Hasn't been getting close at all of late.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - MIRACLE OF HOPE - Performance last out was strong, even though it was only good for second. Was well clear of the show horse. My analysis says only a slight improvement is needed today to move up one and into the winner's circle.

ETCHED IN STONE - I seem to always make money betting Rivelli horses on the grass. That barn has a solid win pct for this distance/surface. In this race here, this horse has notched the highest speed fig at the distance, so I have to give him the edge. This colt is in top condition right now. Ran second last time around the track and comes back soon. Dropped in class last out, and keeps in that lower class level right here. A good sign this animal is comfortable and ready to go. The recent speed rating of 87 is the best last race speed rating in the field. I'm focusing on the class of this race horse, and this one is the 'classiest' of the bunch. SCOTTY BROWN - This horse has the class to win the race. A tactical ride by McCarthy, and this one could bound home the winner.

COMMODORE BARRY - Can't bet on this racer in today's sprint of 5 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't even finished in the money in a short distance race recently. This gelding is always in the money, but just doesn't win. Hard to bet on him on the front end. BOSS IS A PAL - He had to show me more against that weaker bunch in the last race on June 24th to get my support today. Won't be easy for this horse to beat this group off of that last speed rating. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's Equibase class figure, so put him on the likely underlays list. WESTWARD LOOK - Hasn't been getting close at all recently.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SCOTTY BROWN - Deceivingly close to victory on May 29th. A repeat of that nice performance makes him a contender in today's event.
