Had one of the most competitive Equibase Speed Figs of this field in his last race. INBOUND - Appears to be the type to be helped with second time Lasix here.

Put up a reliable Equibase Speed Figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this contest. Have to look at solely on class, with some of the best class numbers of this group. SILVER AND GOLD - Has to be given consideration against this group of horses displaying strong numbers lately and an average speed rating of 71 under similar conditions. With one of the best jockeys in terms of gains at the window, don't count this gelding out.

BATTLE STATION - This gelding should be in tip-top shape, this far into his form cycle. This gelding faced open company last time out. Moving into a restricted state bred today. Is well worth a look. Had a strong closing move last time out, running the last quarter in less than 25 seconds. A similar race today, and it's straight to the winner's circle. The racer with the top average class rating in turf events is usually a solid play. This thoroughbred fits the bill. This racer loves the track here at Saratoga. PHANTOM SMOKE - Ortiz comes to get aboard after getting to know the gelding in the last event. Clement is strong in grass sprints. This horse should have no justifications if he doesn't win. Looking at this gelding's running lines, I see he's almost always in the top three. This animal picks up a lot of cash per start. Tops in this event. This gelding is in nice physical condition. Ran second on Jun 26th. SWASHBUCKLE - Clement is solid in turf sprints. This animal should have no allowances if he doesn't win. Clement has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to be wary of the longer priced half. This gelding has the top turf number in his last race. It doesn't take a college grad like The Brain to figure this here animal has a good chance. BRONX BOMBER - This gelding is in top condition right now. Finished third last time around the track and comes back soon. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. KING ANGELO - I like a racer that manages to be there at the wire as often as this horse. Almost always in the money so don't leave him out of your exotic bets. This horse likes to be near the lead. Today's affair is a shorter trip and should enhance his likelihood of winning.

QUICKFLASH - This mount likes to be on the board, but doesn't usually finish on top. Keep out of the top spot. Pace makes the race. Hard for this speed merchant to be able to deal with the early pressure from the rest of this field. SHIRAZ - This horse likes to be on the board, but doesn't usually win. Don't put in the top spot. CALL ME HARRY - Looked like he was in good form on July 4th. Hasn't been near the track since then though. Not a positive sign. This less than sharp equine ran a most unsatisfactory speed fig last out. He shouldn't run better and will probably suffer defeat in today's race running that figure.

3rd race – (3) Sol Del Sur (C) was bet down from 8-5 t0 6-5 and finished second at Keeneland. Was claimed by Diodoro and rates the nod here. (5) Bottle of Smoke might wake up at this level. (6) Allaboutthemoney was second in his last two starts and belongs in the exotics. (1) Proverb will benefit from a rail trip. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-5-6. Doubles: 1-3-5-6 with 3-5-7-9.
4th race – (7) Havnameltdown debuts for Baffert and should win at first asking. (5) January Magic makes his first start for Hollendorfer and merits respect. (3) Happy Tears is another firster with a license to land in the winner’s circle. (9) Pure Fire should benefit from his first start and be a factor here. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-7-9.
7th race – (3) Shadow Sphinx seeks a third straight win and should be hard to beat in this spot. (7) Neptune’s Storm looks like the one to fear in a claimer. (6) Gold Phoenix has never been worse than second and should be in the picture once again. (1) Gregdar should appreciate some class relief here. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. 9th race – (12) Smooth Like Strait has been running in Grade 1 stakes and has too much class for this field. (4) Gregorian Chant may appreciate the stretchout in this spot. 2^nd race [Clm 16000 N2L, 1 mi] – (4) Once a Giant will start as a new gelding and drop into a N2L condition for the first time. He broke his maiden for a $40,000 tag and is projected to be on the lead in the early stages. (2) Ampersand will also try a N2L claimer for the first time and shows a past win at the Spa. (1) Icon was claimed for $20,000 from his first start in 18 months when he ran third at Churchill Downs. (7) Amadeus Music moves back to the main track which actually might be his best surface and is where he broke his maiden. He makes a drop down the claiming ladder.
3^rd race [Clm 25000 N2L, 6F] – (4) Doctor Love broke his maiden for $50,000 in the first race of his career in January and then ran in much tougher races where he was competitive. He gets tremendous class relief. (3) Taco Bean was claimed from a $25,000 spot by Gustavo Rodriguez who takes the blinkers off and that is a 25% winning move. Both parts of the (1) Storm Shooter/(1A) Got the Gold entry for Linda Rice are contenders in this field. (2) Power Agenda broke his maiden at Saratoga in his first start for Todd Pletcher and makes a big class drop.
