      Nationals +266

      Monday’s FREE WINNER: Washington Nationals.
      Game 957.
      4:10 PM PST/7:10 PM EST
My friends, New York has won 98 games and they sat atop the NL East for most of this regular season. But yet, now that it’s crunch time, guess what my friends? They are folding like a Kmart suit. They desperately need wins right now. However, they have dropped six of their last nine. And getting swept by the Braves in the last series just might be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Guys let’s face it, if this team had any heart, they would’ve made more than one trip to the Fall Classic over the last decade. And perhaps would’ve tallied at least one World Series title. Now, today to make them above a three-dollar favorite, even if it’s against the division doormat Washington Nationals, is a huge mistake. The Nationals are done we all know that. They are playing for nothing. Nothing except possibly being a spoiler to a team that has had their way with them for quite a while now. Last month alone they took two of three against New York. But prior to that, the Mets had their way with the Nationals. There is no questioning that, my friends. Abbott and Carrasco are scheduled today. Abbot is a far cry from a solid starter. On the campaign he is 0-4 with 5.11 ERA. And he gives up a lot of runs, as the team has lost 10 of his last 11 turns. But who the heck is Carrasco to be laying this much wood as a starter? He just got shelled by Miami in his last outing for four runs in just three innings. Prior to that two of his previous four outings were nightmares as he couldn’t even make it past the second inning. Over his last three turns, he has an ERA of 5.54. Granted yes, the Mets are a better team on paper. But baseball isn’t played on paper. It is played on the diamond. And right now, New York is not playing great baseball. And to make them above a three-dollar favorite is a huge mistake. But it is a benefit to us because it offers us great value. The Mets are 0-4 the last four versus right-handed starters and 1-4 the last five versus division opponents. I’m taking the National here today. Thank you.

1 Unit FREE PLAY on Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (-103)
The Milwaukee Brewers are in must win mode as they try to make the wild card in the National League. They should crush the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight with Brandon Woodruff over Tommy Henry. Woodruff is 13-4 with a 3.05 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 26 starts this season, and 8-0 with a 1.98 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 12 home starts. Henry is 3-4 with a 5.98 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in eight starts this season, and 0-2 with an 11.77 ERA and 2.15 WHIP in his last three starts. The Brewers are 11-1 in Woodruff's 12 home starts this season. Give me the Brewers on the Run Line.

          Ricky's 1* play on PHI.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the history of these teams is quite significant.
          Key Trends:
          - The Phillies send Aaron Nola to the mound with a WHIP of 0.98.
          - The Astros send Lance McCullers to the mound, and he's recovering from an illness.
          - The Astros have nothing left to play for.
Verdict: The Magic number is 1 for Philly.

Monday NFL Free play. My selection is on San Francisco minus the points over Los Angeles at 8:15 pm et on Monday.
Are the Rams still an elite team? Yes, they're off to a 2-1 start but should we be all that impressed by a win and non-cover against the Falcons at home followed by a victory in which they scored just 20 points against a bad Cardinals defense? The Niners are in an obvious bounce-back spot off an ugly 11-10 primetime road loss against the Broncos last Sunday. Here, we'll note that Los Angeles has gone a miserable 3-13 ATS the last 16 times it has come off consecutive victories. Meanwhile, the Niners check in 24-7 ATS the last 31 times they've followed up an outright loss as a road favorite, as is the case here, outscoring opponents by an average margin of two touchdowns in that situation. While Rams WR Cooper Kupp's presence in this matchup looms large as he has come up with some monster games against the Niners, it's worth noting that even in the most recent meeting, when he went off for 140+ yards receiving and two touchdowns, the Rams still scored only 20 points. Remember back in Week 1, Kupp hauled in 13 catches for 128 yards and a score and the Rams mustered only 10 points in a loss to the Bills. Both of these teams have their issues right now but San Francisco has been the better team in this series in recent years and will be out to avenge last January's NFC Championship defeat. A loss here would mean the Niners would sit two games back of the Rams in the NFC West - I look for them to avoid that fate. Take San Francisco.

1* Free Sharp Play on Angels vs A's under 7 +105
The UNDER (7) is worth a look in Monday's MLB action between the A's and Angels. I don't see either offense doing a lot in this one. Oakland put up 10 runs yesterday, but had scored a total of 8 runs in their previous 5 games combined. Look for the A's to revert back to their low-scoring ways here with Patrick Sandoval on the mound for the Angels. Sandoval has a 3.97 ERA in 26 starts. I don't see LA doing enough to push this over. Play the UNDER 7!

                        Angels -171

FRANK’S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR FOR MONDAY, 10/3:

My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. The last play I cut for Monday is with the Los Angeles Angels with the money-line versus the Oakland A’s listing both starting pitchers Patrick Sandoval and Adrian Martinez. Los Angeles (72-86) has played their best baseball of the season this month with nothing no longer at stake as they went into their Sunday afternoon games at home against Texas on a six-game winning streak after a 3-2 victory on Saturday. The Angels have won 5 of their last 7 games against fellow AL West rivals. They have also won 6 in a row against teams with a losing record. Oakland (56-102) has lost six in a row after their 5-4 loss to Seattle on Saturday. The A’s host this final three-game series on Monday against an Angels team that has beaten them six times in a row. Oakland has lost 11 straight games against teams who have won at least three in a row against them. The A’s have also lost 6 of their last 9 games with Martinez on the mound. Take the Los Angeles Angels with the money-line listing both starting pitchers. Best of luck — Frank.

                          Angels -158

The LA Angels are on a tear at the moment, winning their last seven straight. The As are struggling, giving up twice the number of runs than the Angels over their last seven games, and are a very poor bet as a home underdog. Sandoval starts for the Angels. He is 3-1, with an ERA of 2.11 over his last seven starts. He pitches better on the road, and after giving up 3 runs to the As last time out (his worst start in two months) is a prime candidate to bounce back today. Oakland’s starter Martinez has struggled, with short starts and a 5.92 ERA over his last seven starts. Take Sandoval and the stretch-happy Angels to go for 8 straight tonight, stealing this one from the As on the road.

                            Dave's Monday Free Play:
                            1* on Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (+112)
The Key: The Los Angeles Angels are 7-0 in their last 7 games with 5 wins by 2 runs or more. The Oakland A's are 1-6 in their last 7 games with 4 losses by 2 runs or more. The Angels should crush the A's tonight for their 8th straight win due to their edge on the rubber. Patrick Sandoval sports a 2.97 ERA in 26 starts this year and a 2.88 ERA in 13 road starts for the Angels. Sandoval sports a 2.13 ERA in 7 lifetime starts against the A's. Adrian Martinez is 4-6 with a 6.08 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 11 starts this year, and 2-2 with a 6.94 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 5 home starts. Martinez yielded 3 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of a 4-1 loss to the Angels in his last start. Take Los Angeles on the Run Line.
