                    Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 12th October 2022

                    by Racing and Sports

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 12.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Dubbo, Caulfield, Ipswich, Balaklava, Ascot and Launceston.

                    WARWICK FARM: RACE 8 @ 4:50 PM

Keen on WILLIAMSBURG (3). He was a big winner over this trip last start at Randwick on heavy ground, coming from well back to score. Will relish the conditions and be very hard to hold out late. SHARP 'N' SMART (5) comes over from New Zealand, scoring narrowly at Ruakaka first up. Ran well in Queensland during the Winter and will prove tough to beat. MATCHA LATTE (6) was solid in second behind Golden Mile last start which reads well for this. MADAME ODETTE (14) brings a different formline having won the Toowoomba Guineas last time out in dominant fashion. This is harder but she's promising.
                    SELECTIONS: Williamsburg to win.

                    WARWICK FARM: RACE 1 @ 12:45 PM

DIVINE GLORY (5) looks very hard to beat coming through the superior form line. She ran third in the Gimcrack on debut and if she runs to that level again she should be taking care of these. HER EXCELLENCY (6) has trialled well, winning her most recent heat at Rosehill. She looks the pick of the newcomers, watch the market. SPEEDSTER (4) has trialled fairly at Randwick and draws well for his debut. Rough chance. MERCURY ROSE (8) similarly has trialled up okay and should be respected for local trainer Gary Portelli.
                    SELECTIONS: Divine Glory to win.

                    DUBBO: RACE 5 @ 3:54 PM

DALAVIN (1) is racing in career-best form stringing four wins together on the bounce. Goes very well for Gallagher who has five wins and two placings from just eight steers and looks the one they all have to run down. Top pick. GREAT BUY (4) has been thereabouts in all three runs this campaign and does boast a victory around this circuit. Ready to show his best. FOREIGN BROTHER (8) has hit the top four at his past 12 outings and is a must for the exotics players. LARYNX (6) is a two-time winner here, draws the inside alley and gets 1.5kg off with the claim. Ticks a few boxes.
                    SELECTIONS: Dalavin to win.

                    CAULFIELD: RACE 3 @ 2:05 PM

GLINT OF HOPE (6) has improved sharply for the step up to 2000m in her past two campaigns and she looks to have built the platform to do the same here. She just missed in the Ethereal at this carnival last year and was good enough to win the Australasian Oaks up to the trip in the autumn off lesser form that what she brings to the table this time around. Neither race has set up for her this time but she has shaped well enough in both. GUNSTOCK (13) was a winner at this carnival last year, winning the Classic at the course and distance. Excuses in the Derby and seen just once since, running really well first up as a gelding in a fast race at Flemington. That can bring him right to his top now. PATERNAL (9) can also peak third up in a far better scenario than what he has found at his two this time around while his stablemate YONKERS (1) can also find himself in the thick of the action coming back a notch from the Hill Stakes last time.
                    SELECTIONS: Backing Glint Of Hope.

                    IPSWICH: RACE 3 @ 1:51 PM

A good contest. AIRCRAFTMAN (1) brought strong Sydney form to resumption for the new barn and was just pipped at Doomben racing forward. Uses the rail and Cahill goes on. Has plenty to give and fitter will be tough to roll. ROCKY ROGUE (9) was only beaten 1.8L debuting in the same race. Started a 2-1 favourite in that and is sure to have some on. The Maloney-Vandyke linkage are hard to risk. KINETIC (13) draws out for the premier barn but gets in light with the 3kg claim and is busting to win. May just lack the upside of the two above. DRAMMATICA (11) has an outside barrier but continues to threaten and the in-form Thompson goes on.
                    SELECTIONS: Backing Aircraftman.

                    BALAKLAVA: RACE 6 @ 4:10 PM

SEA WITNESS (3) is a leader who was nudged out twice before delivering the win this grade at The Parks. Keeps improving and can be winning again. MANAGE THE CYCLE (9) raced favourite in a 62 at The Parks and had no luck. The two before read well for this and he has weight relief this grade. Draws a low gate and can form the quinella. VIDUKA (1) has been away 410 days but has trialled well for his resumption and would be a strong chance at best. It's an ask but the 3kg claim brings him into it. CLASSY KENNY (7) was just beaten at Benalla on the heavy following the placing here. Likes wet tracks but can't be ruled out.
                    SELECTIONS: Backing Sea Witness.

                    ASCOT: RACE 9 @ 5:00 PM

AIYZA (11) looks the horse to beat, coming off a tough win over this trip at Belmont Park last time out. She's still lightly raced and looks set to go on with it now. From the inside draw, she either leads or box seats and will be hard to beat. STELLAR VISTA (1) broke through for a win at Northam off the back of a freshen last start. Draws wide but will be charging home. MYSTICAL BABE (4) will be better over further but was racing very well last time in, winning two in a row before a spell. She's trialled quite well and wouldn't shock. ENGLISH HERITAGE (2) comes here on the quick backup and can figure in the finish.
                    SELECTIONS: Aiyza to win.

Neil Morrice best bets and tips – Wednesday 12 October 2022

Neil Morrice shares his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing coming your way from Wetherby, Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Kempton Park on 12 October 2022.

                          WETHERBY

                          Race 4 No2 PENCREEK (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Luca Morgan

PENCREEK had his winning run ended by the speedy Geromino in a match at Stratford but had earlier totally dominated handicaps at that course and Market Rasen. From a stable that is firing in the winners, he looks the ready made answer to one of the track’s oldest races.

                          Race 5 No5 CAIUS MARCIUS
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Brian Hughes

Veteran CAIUS MARCIUS has enjoyed a bountiful summer campaign that ended with a gritty Perth success and a solid run in defeat at Kelso. Getting a lot of weight from all but one of his foes, he can return to winning ways.

                          NOTTINGHAM

Race 2 No7 NADER KING (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

NADER KING faces a potentially dangerous rival in newcomer King Of Steel, but the former showed promise on his debut at Yarmouth and having gone forward in his work can take out this maiden in the colours of Derby winner Desert Crown.

                          Race 3 No1 ASHTANGA
Trainer: Martyn Meade – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

ASHTANGA was easy to back but put in a promising first run to finish third to If Not Now at Salisbury. The Nathaniel filly can open her account if showing normal progression, with any move in favour of newcomer Shazam also requiring respect.

                          Race 5 No4 FIRST IMPRESSION
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart

FIRST IMPRESSION is narrowly preferred to Marhaba The Champ and Cumulonimbus in a race that trio could easily dominate. The five-year-old skipped an opening at York owing to unsuitable ground but had earlier scored just as he liked at Ayr and after that first success in almost a year has his tail up.
                          WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No7 SILK BIRD (Nap)
                          Trainer: Jedd O’Keeffe – Jockey: J Garritty

The form of SILK BIRD’s second to Cite D’OR at Beverley has been franked which points to the daughter of Free Eagle being more than capable of opening her account in this novice, while taking stock of the fact she has a tough foe to overcome in the shape of Havanazum. The selection stuck to her task well, and has worked well on the all-weather at home.

                          Race 6 No7 SHIBUYA SONG
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Tom Marquand

SHIBUYA SONG races as though she wants an extreme stamina test, as was the case when she chased home Byron Hill on her first attempt at two miles at Ffos Las. She been hugely consistent with a number of near misses to add to that success, and has a good chance of regaining the winning thread, with Mancini one that could cause her problems even though he’s proving hard to win with.
                          KEMPTON PARK

                          Race 2 No11 MORALISA (Nap)
Trainer: Ishmail Mohammed – Jockey: Benoit De La Sayette

MORALISA is better drawn than the well related debutant Concorde, giving her the edge at the start in this sprint round a right-handed bend. The daughter of Jungle Cat chased home a more experienced rival on debut at Newcastle, but now the boot is on the other foot.

Race 7 No7 WOE BETIDE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jim Boyle – Jockey: Patsy Cosgrave

As the least experienced runner in the contest, and a horse making its handicap bow, WOE BETIDE is worth siding with to open his account for a stable that has been quiet, but can get one ready. The Siyouni gelding has improved from race to race, and faces a bunch of exposed rivals.

                          Place Accumulator Perm (Races 2-8)

                          11, 6 x 1, 6 x 4, 13, 14 x 2, 3 x 7, 3 x 7, 3, 2 x 2, 4
