This horse has the speed, and no one may be able to keep up with him. This gelding is in fine form. Ended up second on Oct 28th. That 67 fig this gelding recorded in his last race tells me he's a main player this time out. He keeps getting closer at the finish with each and every start.

My selection for this event is CHARGE NURSE. This filly obviously likes the distance, going 3 for 6 in her races recently. With Worrie controlling the reins on her, this filly will probably be able to break out early here. Had one of the most competitive Equibase Speed Figures of this field in her last affair. FORTY SMOOTH - This filly with Davila in the irons makes her a solid contender. She looks competitive in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint. SWEET BLINDNESS - This mare has posted some nice finishes in her last few efforts. She has posted very strong figures under today's conditions and will most likely fare well versus this group of horses.

I think this mare should run back to her winning race from June 22nd, when she won a $25,000 Optional Claiming race. I am keen on that most recent effort on October 21st at Penn National where she finished third. I like this mare. Has the topmost (EPS) earnings per start in this event. STAND BY YOU - Finished seventh at Presque Isle Downs last out. Was close at the end and at odds of 6/1 in this field, she looks like a possible contender. Last out, ran the last quarter in less than 25 ticks. A good sign she can close well, and should be right there at the finish in today's contest.

This less than sharp equine ran a somewhat easily forgotten speed fig in the last race. She shouldn't improve and will probably lose in today's event running that number.

Provincial racing heads to the Hunter once again on Tuesday afternoon for a competitive eight-race card out of Newcastle. After racing on the surface on Saturday, the rail now moves out +4m for the entire circuit. The track is listed as a Good 4 heading into raceday, and with only light rain forecast on both Sunday and Monday, we should have perfect conditions when racing commences at 1:15pm AEDT this Tuesday.
Newcastle Best Bet: Parrying

Our best bet comes up in the first of two 900m maiden contests. Parrying is first-up for Matthew Smith and looks primed to break his maiden after two very strong trials heading into Tuesday afternoon. The four-year-old chestnut took out his trial at Warwick Farm by a staggering 6.3 lengths, and while it was a barrier trial, the dominant nature of his effort was hard to ignore, as he was hard held going to the line and put significant space on his opposition. Robyn Freeman rode him to victory in the trial, and if they can produce what they did on November 4, Parrying should be far too good for his rivals on rac-day. They’ll lead, they’ll kick, and the only question should be “how far?”

Next Best at Newcastle: Fast Response

We’re sticking to the theme of 900m maidens as our next best comes in race four with the Richard & Will Freedman-trained Fast Response. Having his first career start on Tuesday afternoon, this gelding by Sooboog looks set to put in a bold performance. His second trial caught the eye when he went on to salute by two lengths at Randwick on November 8; he was only asked for a minor effort and gave a nice kick turning for home to score. He comes into this race fit enough and on a short turnaround for the stable, which gives us great confidence they’re here to get this guy a win early in the preparation. Andrew Adkins takes the reins, and with plenty of gate speed at the trials, we expect Fast Response to be ridden up to find the one-by-one before letting down late to win on debut.

Newcastle Value Bet: Pantech

Our value pick runs in the second leg of the quaddie with Pantech for Hawkes Racing. This gelding by Fastnet Rock showed plenty of potential at Kembla Grange first-up on November 1, making significant ground from the back of the field late after being forced wide and off the track turning for home. We thought she was impressive that day, and after starting over 1200m, the 1600m on the big Newcastle track looks a great opportunity for Pantech to get an early win on the board. Koby Jennings is happy to stick after his first-up effort as well, so we are hoping he’s chosen widely. Pantech drew barrier 10 of 10 at Kembla, so with gate seven here, Jennings will look to press forward and find a spot before looking to get this four-year-old rolling at the turn. At double figures with most online Bookmakers, he looks a great each-way bet.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM

FLEXING (3) relished the mile last start when a strong neck 2nd at Goulburn on October 30. Should be near his top now at start three and Tommy Berry rides from an inside gate. Looks the one to beat. BOSTON OF TUFFY (5) ran a much better race at start two when seventh over 1600m at Goulburn on October 30. Can race a little closer here and looks good each-way value. PANTECH (1) drifted back on debut last start over 1200m at Kembla Grange and could only manage sixth. Will take a lot from that hitout. Can measure up this time.
SELECTIONS: Flexing to win.

KYNETON: RACE 6 @ 4:00 PM

ENFANT ROUGE (1) is a former French galloper who was well supported first up and plain. Switched to the Raymond barn with immediate effect winning the Maiden comfortably. Looks to have turned the corner and can win this at best. IRISH MIST (3) resumed in strong expected to need it and had a tough run. Has strong back-form including in town and should have the speed to clear the awkward gate. Fitter and a winning chance. LUNAR SOLAR (5) resumed in Adelaide in easier and didn't get into it. Has the blinkers on first time and sharper may use the low barrier. Capable and quick improvement is likely. NIGHT OF MAYHEM (8) draws awkwardly but just missed the latest the a city 70 and has to be considered.

BEAUDESERT: RACE 4 @ 3:27 PM

MISHANI CONMAN (1) peaks off two near-misses at the Gold Coast. Draws to advantage and the red-hot Wiggins rides. The one to beat. SCENIC RIM (8) led and was too good at Ipswich first-up building on the 6.5L Toowoomba Maiden win. Uses the rail and fitter is a decent chance to make the hat-trick. BIGGIE (4) has just been nudged out the last thee and finds easier. Rates well and should get the run of the race. SUILVEN (3) rates similarly and is also a chance.
