    Churchill Downs - Race #1 - Post: 1:00pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $32,000 Class Rating: 92

    Rating:

    #1 MONTAUK DADDY (ML=5/2)
    #5 ALFIE SOLOMONS (ML=8/5)

MONTAUK DADDY - This horse is at the same 6 furlongs distance he won at on Jun 19th, which was at a higher class level than today's event. This horse should be at the fitness peak, this far into his form cycle. Ranks number one in EPS (earnings per start). A strong try right here will add to that total. ALFIE SOLOMONS - Asmussen is trying blinks on today. Note that this animal worked from the gate in a morning prep, most likely in blinkers. Likes to go to the front end and the fact that today is a shorter trip should help. Changes tracks from last out at Keeneland to here. Multiple wins at different racing venues tell me this one likes to switch it up, so that's a good sign.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #4 HIGHER AUTHORITY (ML=5/1), #6 HAVE A PLAN (ML=5/1), #3 GUARD (ML=6/1),

HIGHER AUTHORITY - This racer hasn't been coming close at the finish recently. Difficult to bet on any horse in a sprint event at 5/1 when he hasn't shown any on the board results in sprints in the last 60 days. HAVE A PLAN - I foretell bad luck for this horse in this contest. GUARD - The Brain always warns me to keep my distance from thoroughbreds in sprint events that haven't hit the board in sprint affairs recently. Couldn't make up ground at all on November 8th. Hard to play this time at the expected odds. Will not be easy for this horse to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Not likely to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's class figure, so put him on the questionable challengers list.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - ALFIE SOLOMONS - This gelding will be very focused today. The 'hood' will do the trick.

      Race 8 - Allowance - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $33700 Class Rating: 52

FOR ACCREDITED OHIO BRED FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 124 LBS.; OLDER, 126 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE OCTOBER 23 ALLOWED 2 LBS.

      RECOMMENDED CHOICES
      # 8 SEEKING THE MONEY 10/1
      # 2 DOUBLE EDGED 8/5
      # 6 TV TIZ GORGEOUS 7/2
I've got to go with SEEKING THE MONEY especially at a such a nice price. As of late Aviles has been hot which may give the edge to this filly. DOUBLE EDGED - The average class fig alone makes this entrant a solid contender. TV TIZ GORGEOUS - Is a key contender - given the 54 speed rating from her most recent race. This trainer has done well recently with entries racing at this distance and surface.

        Parx Racing - Race #5 - Post: 2:13pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $30,000 Class Rating: 84

        Rating:

        #1 PRETTY GOOD YEAR (ML=7/2)
        #9 GRIT'N'GRIND (ML=9/2)
        #8 EL HERMANO (ML=6/1)

PRETTY GOOD YEAR - Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this horse is up against an easier bunch than in the last race at Laurel. There's something to be said for a change of surface. Last race this animal didn't like the terrain, but if you look two back on the dirt at Parx Racing, there was a great effort. I look for that again today. The 83 recent race speed rating looks sound on paper. GRIT'N'GRIND - Dropping in class rating points from his Nov 9th race at Parx Racing. Based on that key piece of info, I will give this horse the edge. I like to play this handicapping angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a sharp effort within the last 30 days. EL HERMANO - Ran in the last race against a better group of horses at Parx Racing. The move down in the class scale should suit him well. You may want to overlook that last race at Parx Racing in the slop where he finished off the board. Should do well today under better track conditions.

        Vulnerable Contenders: #7 I LOVE JAXSON (ML=4/1), #2 SOCIAL GROUP (ML=5/1), #4 MY MAN ELVIS (ML=8/1),

I LOVE JAXSON - Not a good 'fit' in this affair. SOCIAL GROUP - Granted the last race was good, finishing third. The lack of any recent activity raises some concerns though. MY MAN ELVIS - While Equibase's speed ratings are solid, I would seriously discount the high one from the Nov 1st on a muddy track. Some horses just run well on the off going. Hard to put any money on this gelding on the win end. Likes to hit the board though.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #1 PRETTY GOOD YEAR on the win end if we get at least 3/1 odds

The consensus for this race is that BAMBOO is the one to beat. Could be the finest in the group of horses here, showing competitive rankings of late. Avg speed is a solid 87. This entrant may wake up with a medication change (with second time Lasix) today. Comes into this gathering with very good TrackMaster class ratings relative to the grouping - take a good look. ALTAR CALL - This trainer, and the driver Tharps, go together like a hand in a glove. Their results together are top notch. Hard to put finger on it, but back him in here. KABOOMSKI - A competitive play in here as he has one of the highest winning percents in the group of animals as well as magnificent credentials all around. The handicapping group keenly points out that when Merriman trains this contender, the odds of finishing in the top three go way up.

BAYFIELD BEACH has a nice shot to take this gathering. This gelding has the ability to take successful advantage of a favorable pace scenario in this contest. One of the most respectable win clips with this driver/conditioner make this gelding dangerous. Recently Henry has been hot as a pistol, which may give the edge to this gelding for this one. IDEAL PERCEPTION - Seems to have a respectable class edge based on the competition he has raced against. Going to post competitively, recorded a formidable speed figure in his last gathering (88). BETTOR B GOING - Hands down the best position at Flamboro Downs is the 4. The win percent is fantastic.
