Mahoning Valley - Race #2

#5 Uptown	He's capable of something better than he showed last out, and he might bounce back at an improved price here with a good tracking trip waiting for him.
#2B Night Time Ruler	He's a good fit here after rolling a cheaper group of conditioned claimers last time around, and he should be in line for a great trip while spying the pace from close range.
#6 Giant Critic	He and #4 Blood Moon both make sense on paper in here, too, but this guy's super reliable form gives him the edge in this spot.
Race Summary	Uptown fits here if he can get back to something more like the two- or three-back efforts, and he might offer a price that's just playable enough in what looks like a pretty competitive spot.

Mahoning Valley - Race #5

#11 Smarty Pants	Think there might be some early players lined up who might be unreliable late, and this one can probably move forward a bit here after making a mild, wide middle move in the debut run. Think the race flow makes her interesting if she steps forward today.
#2 Written Consent	She was competitive with similar in her only previous local try, and she will probably appreciate the move back in with this crew after failing to bring anything threatening at Turfway last time out.
#9 Danzing Chick	She'd probably get top call for me in here if she weren't meeting a handful of others with her exact same type of style that might leave them flashing chasing pace and struggling to stay. Still, I'd want her on the wider tickets.
Race Summary	Seems like there may be capable firsters in here like #3 Derby Wife and #7 Going to Town, so check them out on the track and tote. Smarty Pants has some upside here and might get the right kind of setup to run along late today.

Mahoning Valley - Race #6

#3 One for the Money	He is getting short on excuses after nine starts, but I think he gets a decent setup with these to see if he can get past them late in this third start off the break. He's meeting a lot of form that fades late, and I think he found the right group to graduate.
#1 Hitsville	He looks like the clear one to beat while getting around two turns for the first time, and he has been solid in both local starts. Signs point to him handling the route trip, but I do worry just a bit about him stretching out from the fence with a bunch of prompting pace signed up further out.
#7 C C's Clear Creek	He's another with plenty of starts under his belt, but he wouldn't be the biggest shock in this 15th career try, as he should be right up on the splits early and might get the first-over run -- chance he makes that move and holds?
Race Summary	One for the Money stepped up with a decent effort at this level last time out, and I wonder if he can bring something just a bit better here in this third start off the layoff. Look for him late.

Rode this horse on March 8th and Perez is back again in the irons in this race. Recent Equibase speed figures show strong pattern of improvement. WICKED CHANCE - A thoroughbred coming back this quickly after a sharp race is a good signal. Each one of this gelding's recent finish positions has been progressively better. This gelding should be at the fitness peak, this far into his form cycle.
