#2 Strongenoughstorm She woke up when getting in for a really cheap tag like this for the first time, and she has some upside in this second start off the bench after showing some pace off the layoff. She wouldn't be a surprise.
#4 Short Straw She goes first out in a race that doesn't feel all that strong, even for this kind of level, and she's racing for connections who have been in sharp form since the season started.
#6 Bumper Girl She doesn't bring much late kick with her into the lane, but she has enough positional pace to think she'll be in the kind of spot that allows her to stick around for a share.
Race Summary Strongenoughstorm might be fast enough to be right up on the splits in this one, and I'm guessing her company will come in the form of firster Short Straw. Hoping 'storm is away fast at a mildly playable price.

Hawthorne - Race #5
Picks Notes
#2 Joyzella She cuts back for this second start off the bench, and she might be legged up for a big finish after going long here last month. Price might be right to see if she can outfinish these.
#9 Magic Beauty She has landed six underneath shares from seven trips to post, but she caught a runaway winner last out and might be able to move forward enough to land this in the second run off the layoff.
#8 Olive's Candy She was a good fit when dropping into maiden claiming company at Turfway last time out, and she would be a handful with these if her Florence form holds up while protected against the local special weight company. Worry she's overbet here.
Race Summary Joyzella and Magic Beauty seemed like a capable top pair to me, but the former should offer a better price and may be running along best late.

Hawthorne - Race #7
Picks Notes
#3 Hela Love the way his form moved the right way late last year, and he proved he could compete with open company when landing that allowance win here. Think he's in with a price shot while maybe still progressing after just six starts into this 4-year-old season.
#10 Reinvestment Risk I'd be more than happy to jump in here at something like the 9/2 ML offering, but I'm worried he's going to get bet down. No sure thing he'll hold form off the bench while leaving Chad Brown's barn for $70k at Keeneland January, but he's just way classier than these if he's any kind of image of himself from last year.
#7 Golden Hornet He was a bit disappointing when third at 3/5 last time out, but he's capable of something a bit better and looks competitive here if he can bounce back.
Race Summary Hela has some price appeal after really putting things together since arriving here from downstate, and I think he'll get the right kind of trip to see if he can class up against a decent group that includes a horse who was second in a pair of Grade Is in his two- and three-back starts last year in Reinvestment Risk. Fun race to look forward to.
