IT WORKED - Has been moving admirably and has among the strongest speed in the race for today's distance. Will make a strong showing versus this field. SWATH - Has been running soundly lately and will almost certainly be close to the front end early on. Look for a strong outing with the class drop.

My selection in this race is PLAYOFF BOUND. Reliable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt route races make this equine a contender. Ought to come out very solid - I have liked the way this gelding has moved sharply to the lead recently. With a very strong 84 speed fig last time out, will definitely be a factor in this race. BEL RAGAZZO - Could beat this group given the 81 speed figure earned in his last outing. He has posted solid figs under today's conditions and ought to fare well versus this group of horses in this race. ARTHUR SPOONER - Is a strong contender based on numbers recorded recently under today's conditions. Earning some nice profits in dirt route events.

VIOLENT POINT - Have to make this mare a strong challenger; she comes off a strong effort on June 16th. She must like the track here. She just won over the track after shipping in. Earnings per race is something that I feel can be a very valuable handicapping factor. This animal is ranked at the very top in this field. ABITIBI - Finished out of the money last out at Mountaineer Park, but was within five lengths of the winner. Opening at 10/1 makes me think she's got a chance. Sub-par effort last time out at Mountaineer Park was due to the off-going (she ended up fourth). Expect better today on a fast track.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 OWEN'S PLEASURE (ML=7/2), #1 STANLEY MARKET (ML=9/2), #5 DONYA KNOW IT (ML=5/1),

OWEN'S PLEASURE - Recorded a mediocre speed rating in the last race in a $16,000 Claiming race on Jun 16th. Improbable to see an improved performance off of that rating. STANLEY MARKET - A bit of a lackluster outing when this filly finished fourth. Today's event is 6 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't hit the board in a short distance event in the last sixty days. Not the best of omens. DONYA KNOW IT - Not probable that this animal will finish better than she did last time out of the box when placing fourth.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - VIOLENT POINT - Comparing last speed ratings in this field, nobody beats this mare. Tops in the field with a last speed rating of 94 on June 16th.
