    #16
Handicapped by The Turf Club Analysts

    PURCHASE

    Woodbine - Race #10 - Post: 6:00pm - Optional Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $111,000 Class Rating: 94

    Rating:

    #1 MAAKWA (ML=8/1)
    #2 PRICELESS WILL (ML=10/1)
    #6 STAR SIGN (ML=7/2)

MAAKWA - This speed freak is cutting back in distance today. Should increase his winning probability. Lone speed horses can be tough to run down. Here's a lone front-runner facing sluggish sorts today. The ROI when Moreno and Lopez team up is tremendous. Lets try to beat the morning-line favorites with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty decent race. Lopez will try adding the 'hood' today in hopes of an improved performance. PRICELESS WILL - Don't often see a beneficial ROI like +126. This jock/conditioner twosome has done well together over the last twelve months. This gelding is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of Drexler. Entered last at Woodbine in a race with a class figure of 99. Dropping considerably in class rating in today's event puts him in a solid position in this event. Had a powerful closing move in the last race, running the last quarter in less than 25 seconds. A similar race today, and it's straight to the winner's circle. STAR SIGN - Aboard this thoroughbred on July 7th and Civaci is right back in the irons this time. Drexler brings him back again. I advocate you stay with this live gelding. That last effort must not have been too hard on this gelding for him to be able to race again so quickly. This gelding earned a good rating of 97 in his last event. That speed rating should be high enough to triumph this time out. This gelding is obviously on the improve with speed figs of 78, 80, 97 last three out. Trainer, Drexler, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #3 LENNY K (ML=5/2), #5 GALLOPING D'ORO (ML=3/1), #7 KING ALFREDO (ML=4/1),

LENNY K - I find it hard to bet on any horse in a short distance affair at 5/2 when he hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last couple of months. GALLOPING D'ORO - Mediocre speed figure last time out at Woodbine at 6 furlongs. Don't believe this racer will improve too much in today's event. KING ALFREDO - The lack of morning drills has to make one concerned despite the good effort in the last event. While Equibase's speed ratings are great, I would not seriously consider the high one from the June 25th on the soft turf. Some horses just run well on the off going. The effort last out on Jun 25th probably won't hold up against tougher opponents when they turn for home.
