    Ricky Tran

    Ricky's 1* play on TEX.

Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the recent history of these two teams is particularly significant.

    - The Angels are 3-5 in their last 8 overall.

    - The Rangers are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.

    - The Angels are 1-5 in their last 6 road games.

Verdict: The value is on the home favorite.

        Free Play: Cubs-165

This Crosstown Series has a bit of a hollow ring to it after the White Sox were sellers at the trade deadline and the Cubs have doubled down as they are still in the hunt for a wild card spot. But don’t discount the bragging rights and the urge to play spoiler by the White Sox.

Probable starter Toussaint for the White Sox has had a rough go lately with a WHIP just south of 2.00 in August so far and an ERA of 6.97. Kendricks has been worse in August (because of one bad outing vs. the hard hitting Braves) but did pitch a win against the White Sox on July 23rd and was solid through the rest of July.

The biggest contrast is at the plate as the Cubs are 6th in avg and 4th in OPS in the majors over the last 15 days. They have also been in the top

          Free Play: Angels+169

I acknowledge this month has been brutal for the Angels. They were 11-5 in their last 16 games entering August. But the Angels are 3-10 this month.
So, why get involved with them?

          Price plus situation.

The Rangers humiliated the Angels, 12-0, on Monday. Angels manager Phil Nevin admitted his team didn't focus. This is what he said following the loss: "We let some things get to us and that's the first time I've seen that. Disappointed? Absolutely. Mad? Yeah. But I know this group in there. They'll rebound and come out (Tuesday). It'll be better.''

Expect a strong, concentrated effort from the Angels. They have Lucas Giolito on the mound making his fourth start for them after coming from the White Sox. Los Angeles defeated the Giants in Giolito's previous start last Tuesday. Giolito is 3-0 with a 3.38 ERA in four career starts versus Texas. He ranks 10th in the American League in strikeouts with 145 in 136 innings.

Texas is going with lefty Jordan Montgomery. This will be Montgomery's third start with the Rangers since coming from St. Louis. He's a solid middle-of-the-road starter. I still don't know why the Yankees dealt him to the Cardinals for Harrison Bader. The Yankees are living proof you can never have enough healthy pitchers.

Based on value, I think the Angels are worth a peanut here.

The MLB Comp play is on the Over 12.5 runs in the Arizona at Colorado game at 8:40 eastern. This game could have scoring right from the get go tonight with Blach and Mantiply making the start. Looking at the database we see that road favorites like Arizona that are off a road favored loss at -200 or higher and taking on a team off a home dog win have gone over 80% since 2004 if the total is 12 or more. This will be a bullpen game for Arizona as Mantiply wont be in for more than 2 innings. Maybe Blach will lower his 16+ Home Era. Either way we will back the over here tonight. Rob V

                Dave's Tuesday Free Play:

                1* on Baltimore Orioles +114

The Key: I like the price we are getting on the Baltimore Orioles tonight as underdogs to the San Diego Padres. The Orioles are 11-4 in their last 15 games overall to get to 74-45 on the year and in 1st place in the AL East. The Padres are free falling right now at 1-7 in their last 8 games overall while being held to 2 runs or fewer in 5 of the 7 losses. Jack Flaherty was a great addition to this Baltimore rotation. He is 4-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 road starts this year. Michael Wacha was having a great season for the Padres before landing on on the IL. He will now be making his 1st start since July 1st and will be on a pitch count. You cannot expect him to be that sharp after being off for the past 2 months. Flaherty is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in 5 lifetime starts against the Padres, while Wacha is 2-1 with a 5.87 ERA in 9 lifetime starts against the Orioles. Take Baltimore.

                  1* FREE PLAY Orioles RUNLINE.

Consider Baltimore on the runline option here. Good value on a hot team, vs. one that's floundering and finding new ways to lose seemingly each night. The Padres have lost four of their last five including yesterday's series opener 4-1. Jack Flaherty is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA for his new team, while Michael Wacha is 8-2 with a 2.84 ERA for the Padres. We think that Flaherty can match Wacha inning for inning and in a contest that we see being decided late, or even in extras, we're going to suggest laying the price for the extra 1.5 runs in the back pocket; the play is Baltimore on the runline option!

                    7* MLB Rays/Giants Free Pick

PLAY ON TAMPA BAY RAYS -105

I'll take my chances with the Rays as a -105 road favorite against the Giants. Tampa Bay won the series opener 10-2 on Monday, giving them 3 wins in their last 4 games. San Francisco is going the opposite direction. Giants are 2-7 over their last 9 games. The offense has scored 3 or fewer runs in each of their last 5 games. Tampa Bay will have Zack Littell on the mound. He's a bit under the radar if you ask me. He's got a 2.96 ERA and 1.192 WHIP in 6 starts and is going much deeper into games. Jake Junis threw 3 shutout innings in his first start in roughly 10 months, but it came against a struggling Diamondbacks lineup. TB has scored 27 runs in their last 4 games. Give me the Rays -105!

Tuesday MLB Free play. My selection is on Milwaukee+186 over Los Angeles at 10:10 pm et on Tuesday.

The Brewers enter this series red hot following a three-game sweep of the White Sox in Chicago and four straight victories overall. Adrian Houser will get the start in Tuesday's series opener. While he's certainly not a front of the rotation starter, he has proven capable of giving the Brew Crew some effective outings. In fact, Milwaukee has come away victorious in four of his last five trips to the hill. For the Dodgers, I see this as a bit of a tough spot to get up for as they come off Monday's off day - their first since July 31st - on the heels of eight straight victories. Bobby Miller will take the ball for Los Angeles on Tuesday. While he did toss six shutout innings last time out against the struggling Diamondbacks, he's just one start removed from lasting just 3 2/3 innings against the Padres. Miller hasn't been a great fit here at Chavez Ravine, posting a 5.84 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with the Dodgers only managing to split his six starts. The bullpens are a virtual wash in this matchup, certainly not what you would expect given the price being offered. Take Milwaukee.

Could best this group, just look at the TrackMaster Speed Rating - 74 - from her most recent event. Driver/handler are a potent duet when teaming up on a common fine animal. 7 percent return on investment most recently. SPY'S LAST GAME - This fine animal looks strong considering the high class ratings. Not a good idea to throw out of any exotics. BAREFOOT BELLE - Have a gut feel this one might be close in this contest.
