Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #1

#3 Lightline	Was trying to get around him here, but he's not meeting a whole lot on paper at first asking and is probably ready enough to handle these out of the box.
#1 Mr Discount	He moved up pretty well when sent two turns for the first time in that second career start, and he could be in line for a cozy trip tracking from the inside if there is a little pace from the stalls outside of him.
#8 Merlin's Magic	He never really picked up in the debut at Kentucky Downs last month, and he might make a little more sense while getting on the dirt at second asking. Not out of the question, but I'd want a decent price.
Race Summary	Lightline probably won't have to be a star to win this thing on debut, but I could be enticed into the rail runner if the price started to float up at all thanks to some other barns commanding cash first out.

Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #6

#1 Single Her	Think she's pretty clearly the one to beat in this spot, but I do worry about her taking a little pressure from #4 Stormy Wager, who also does her best work on the engine. Still think she'll turn that one away and score.
#3 Dash of Simplicity	The recent turf form is pretty sharp compared to some of those modest main-track runs this year, and she should be in pretty perfect spying spot if the pace players do hook up in the early going.
#7 Skippinjustice	Late runner never picked up on the main track, but she's not far removed from a couple turf tries that might keep her in the mix. Most likely underneath.
Race Summary	Single Her may only have to put away Stormy Wager on the front end, and her better stuff should be able to handle these.

Horseshoe Indianapolis - Race #9

#4 Ruby Tap	Pace hasn't quite been able to stay late through three starts, but I think this spot should offer a touch of relief from a couple races I kind of liked. I'll lean heavily here.
#3 Spelterini	She has some tactical pace and ability to get past horses, but I'm not really sure what to make of her here off dull tries heading to the bench and coming back from it. Obvious appeal on race class and connections, but I don't know...
#8 Simply Complicated	Not sure she can relax at all or enough to make a real dent in here, but I could see her plugging around the entire way and getting outrun a little bit early on. Winds up getting a modest rallying trip by accident?
Race Summary	Ruby Tap needs to show she can finish off one of these races, but she's meeting a softer group than she has seen so far and might be a bit tougher late with this bunch.

Remington Park - Race #5

#8 Wild Wing	He hasn't managed to find too much so far in a couple special weight tries for the new team since the May claim, but he might have some upside while getting in for a claiming tag on the turf for the first time. He's got to turn the tables on Dawson City who has beaten him a few times recently, but I think something like the two-back run would keep him in the frame today.
#5 Dawson City	He's probably supposed to win this one while dropping in for a tag after seven special weight tries, and he has been landing a lot of underneath shares with those tougher groups. Think he can be tough, but there is at least a small question of the first claiming appearance coming off a fairly dull try by his standards. Underlay?
#3 Wiseacre	He was only about a length behind Dawson City when they chased better last month, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him move forward with that first grass race under his belt. Along too late?
Race Summary	Wild Wing is worth a look with claiming company like this, as he has the positional pace to get in a good spot into the far turn, and maybe from there the easier group will help him home.

Remington Park - Race #8

#2 Fly to the Bank	He has been pretty solid over the local footing in the past, and he's got a pace edge on most of these in a small group. Thinking he'll run these off their feet.
#5 Connors Outlaw	He's a pretty reliable presser, and he draws well to watch everything unfold and start prompting the splits when it works to his advantage. Wouldn't be a surprise.
#3 Mesa Moon	His last was decent enough to think he can share here if he holds form, but he has regularly found the top choice to be a bit tough, and I don't see the race flow flattering him in a way that would change that today.
Race Summary	Fly to the Bank probably isn't much of a price in here, but I think he's going to hit pretty hard in the late multi-race plays. He fits well here on overall form and class, and he looks likely to be the controlling pace into the turn.

Remington Park - Race #9

#9 Spin to Win	Tough call to separate him from the next guy listed, but I think he's going to be in a perfect spot right up on the pace while getting back on the turf, and the price will probably be a bit better here.
#8 It'll Do	Think he's another with a chance to take advantage of a positive race shape, and the price might be a bit more appealing this time around after the clunker at 2/1 last out. More favorable flow should be a big help tonight.
#4 Projection	He and the winner of that last one both looked good when stretching out a decent bunch last time, and there aren't many holes to poke in his turf form through two starts on the footing. Like the way he handled the move in with special weight company locally last out.
Race Summary	Spin to Win and It'll Do both have a bit of pace in a race where a lot of the other potential players are going to be running from off the pace. Think Spin to Win will be a decent price, and I'm willing to draw a line through that last one when the winner left everyone spinning their wheels by the time they hit the turn in a super impressive win.

My selection for this event is SHES SO SPEIGHTSY. This filly ought to be given a chance just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint contests alone. Could beat this field given the 67 speed figure put up in her last outing. SHERIFF'S KID - Is tough not to consider given the company run in as of late. Looks formidable for the conditions of this race today, showing solid figures in dirt sprint races recently. CENTERFOLD ANGEL - Could provide positive gains based on respectable recent Equibase Speed Figures with an average of 62. The twosome of Concepcion/Brown has one of the top return on investment percentages in this group.

BERLONE - When David gives Olver a leg up on any thoroughbred, you got to know that with their win percentage you have at least a fighting chance. Carrying 5 pounds less this race. Trainer has him in a good spot. JERSEY PERFECTION - Racing at a similar level as last race on Aug 27th at Monmouth Park. I think Nunn has found a good spot for him, and I like his chances right here. Has a good chance to break maiden changing over to the main track today. Horse has improved at least 2 Equibase speed fig points in last two races. I look for that trend to continue right here. RANSEUR - Looking at today's class rating, this thoroughbred is meeting an easier bunch than in the last race at Monmouth Park.

I give my vote to SIS BOOM BOB here. Going in a turf sprint race gives this filly a quite good shot. With Correa in the saddle guiding her, this filly should be able to break out early for this event. With a formidable 79 average Equibase Speed Figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's contest. MENDHAM MILL - Vaunts solid Equibase Speed Figures on average overall when put alongside the rest of this group. Her earnings per start in turf sprint contests alone makes you take a look at her. HOWIZEE - This mare with Lebron in the irons makes her a solid choice.

KENTUCKY ICE - 7/5 is not enough of a price to take on most any horse that has run poorly in back to back efforts. The speed figure last time out doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the class figure of today's event. Mark this horse as a vulnerable contender. COMMANDER REX - This questionable contender didn't go to the lead and didn't close ground in the stretch last time he ran. RYAN EXPRESS - Just can't bet on this racer. Didn't show me anything last time out or on July 13th.

1st race – (3) Dual Monarchy takes a big class drop and looks best here. (4) Inexorable is worth a close look while moving to the Diodoro barn. (2) Sound Doctrine may wake up at this level. (5) Jewelstown has speed and looks like a main threat here. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-4-5.
3rd race – (2) Cigarette Boat (C) was bet down from 7-2 to 5-2 and lost by a nose. Gets the win today. (11) Salt Spray was second on Tapeta and should handle turf as well. (6) Tasterfor the King seems ready for his 2023 debut. (9) American Raider should be a factor in the final furlong. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-6-9-11.
5th race – (5) Remembering had a useful debut and should appreciate stretching out to two turns. (6) Collier fizzled in her debut but may perk up here. (1) My Favorite Girl could be a factor in her first start. (9) Iuka Miss should be more of a factor in her second start. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-6-9. Doubles: 1-5-6-9 with 1-4-8-9. Pick 3: 1-5-6-9 with 1-4-8-9 with 3-4-7-9.
6th race – (1) Sam’s Treasure was an impressive winner at Saratoga and can make it two in a row here. (9) Too Fast for You has been working sharpy for this start. (4) Streaming Now was third in a stakes and belongs in the exotics. (8) Twirling Queen has enough early speed to be a key contender. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-4-8-9. Doubles: 1-4-8-9 with 3-4-7-9.
7th race – (7) Yamato gets some class relief here and should prevail. (3) Quadra Island won nicely after some freshening and looks like the main rival. (4) English Tavern hasn’t raced since March but seems ready for a solid effort. (9) Storm the Court could be dangerous on his best try. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-4-7-9.

2^nd race [Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (5) Black Rain was fourth in his debut going seven furlongs at Saratoga for Todd Pletcher at 7-1 and Irad stays on board. (4) Opportunity Set ran third at the Spa following a five month layoff for Chad Brown. (3) Cloud Forest has had seven tries already with three second-place finishes, got claimed last time for $40,000 in July, and comes back as a new gelding for Ray Handal. (1) Quality Chic makes his second start since moving to the barn of David Jacobson during the summer.
3^rd race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (6) Quiet Wisdom was second in his first start last month at Saratoga for Todd Pletcher at odds of 7-2. (8) Aggelos the Great was the 8-5 favorite in his first start in July for George Weaver when he pressed the pace and finished a close third. (7) Catalina Crush was third in his debut for Norm Casse which was at the Spa where Casse had a great meeting. (4) Slammin Gold is a home-bred from the Bromans by Tapit out of the champion sprinter Bar of Gold.
5^th race [Clm 25000 N2L, 1 mi] – (7) Gut Feeling broke his maiden for a $50,000 tag last year, has been racing in starter allowances since then, and now drops to the N2L condition while making his first start for Rick Dutrow. (5) Playingwithmatches was second at this level two races back then tried to step up to a starter allowance in his first start after being claimed by Linda Rice. (1) Happy Bob set the pace last time going 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga and finished second beaten by just a half-length. (4) Good Rapport will drop down to the lowest level of his career in his second start after getting claimed for $30,000.
8^th race [Clm 40000 N2L, 7F] – (6) Ghostly Girl gets blinkers on while making her first start after getting taken for $35,000 at Saratoga last month when she set the pace and finished third. (2) Yogi was claimed for $25,000 two races back and tried a starter allowance last time out. Blinkers go on. (1) Roman Goddess won a maiden special weight at Horseshoe Indiana last time with a front-end effort. (8) Divine Cross will run for a tag for the first time in her career. This will be her fifth career start after appearing in a Saratoga allowance after a seven month layoff.
Best bets: Black Rain (2^nd); Gut Feeling (5^th). Best value: Quiet Wisdom (3^rd); Ghostly Girl (8^th).
