(5%) DENVER (Money-line) I really like the way this one sets up. After getting destroyed by the Dolphins, the winless Broncos absolutely needed to bounce back and beat the Bears. Things didn't start well; the Broncos found themselves in a big hole. They didn't panic though. Rather, they rallied all the way back for a 31-28 victory. Not only was it their first win under Sean Payton, it was the type of comeback which they can absolutely build positive momentum from.

The Denver defense, which had admittedly been playing poorly and which was dealing with some injuries, really stands to build from the performance. Linebacker Jonathon Cooper who scored a TD (one of two late takeaways by the defense) to help with the comeback, had this to say of the entire defense: “I don't think we blinked once. Like even with how the game was going and even with everything, everybody kept their composure. Everybody stuck together, kept fighting — and that's what a team does.”

The Jets were facing a tougher opponent. So, it wasn't completely shocking to see them fall behind early against the Chiefs. To their credit, much like the Broncos did against Chicago, the Jets fought all the way back. However, unlike the Broncos, they came up short. It seems that many people feel the Jets' (near) comeback was also the type that a team can build momentum from. I don't see it working that way though. Coming all the way back and nearly winning, in a primetime game with Taylor Swift and others in attendance, only to come up short, is going to prove difficult.

With the Bills and Dolphins both off to 3-1 starts, the 1-3 Jets know that their season is in trouble. Their next two home games are against the Eagles and Chargers. Tough opponents. The Broncos are suddenly believing that they can get back in the race. Two of their next three come against the division leading Chiefs. So, they have the ability to help themselves. Those games won't matter if they can't take care of business here though.

The Jets defense is tough but the offense is still only averaging 15.5 points per game. Denver averages 25.
These teams faced each other in 2021 and 2022. The home team won both. I expect home field to again prove the difference, the Broncos earning their first “Mile High” victory under Payton.
