Thursday NFL Free play. My selection is on Chicago plus the points over Washington at 8:15 pm et on Thursday.
To say the Bears bandwagon has been cleared would be an understatement. Safe to say the majority of bettors are 'out' on Chicago after an 0-4 start that has included losses of all varieties. I like to look at the positives and the Bears did have some of those to take away from last Sunday's 34-31 home loss to the Broncos. The offense actually looked dynamic with QB Justin Fields turning in his best performance of the young season. Now Chicago draws a favorable matchup against a Commanders team you can throw on. Yes, Washington has a vaunted pass rush but at least the Bears have some help on the way in the form of left guard Teven Jenkins in line to see his first action of the season. The Commanders got off to a 2-0 start to the season but it's been all downhill from there with consecutive losses to the Bills and Eagles. They did manage to pick up a 'moral victory' in last Sunday's overtime loss in Philadelphia but that's of little consolation. They're actually set up poorly following that narrow defeat as they've gone a long-term 16-31 ATS when playing at home off a loss by six points or less, outscored by an average margin of 0.3 points in that situation. Worse still, Washington is 46-78 ATS in its last 124 games as a home favorite, outscoring the opposition by just 2.8 points on average along the way. In a 'revenge' spot following last year's ugly 12-7 home loss to the Commanders, look for the Bears to hang tough. Take Chicago.
The Bears are 0-4 SU and ATS. They've also seen the total go OVER in all four games they've played so far. The Commanders are 2-2 SU/ATS, and they've seen the total go 2-2, but off the high-scoring 34-31 OT loss at Philly, we're finally expecting more of a defensive affair here on the short week between these two desperate sides. With each trying to establish the run like we expect, we're going to strongly suggest a second look at the "under" in this one!
