The Blue Jackets favored? It's true. The Jackets are off to a solid 3-2 start and the Ducks are really bad. Anaheim is just 9-51 its last 60 against winning teams. The Ducks won both meetings last year but this season should play out differently. Off back-to-back wins, Columbus makes it three in a row.
New Jersey is probably the better overall team, but Montreal is not going to be rolling over here. The Habs are 3-1-0-1, while the Devils are 2-1-0-1. Montreal is 3-2 on the puckline, and New Jersey is 0-4 on the puckline. With a much more high-profile game at home tomorrow night vs. the Capitals, we also expect the visitors to get caught "looking ahead." While the outright win is a very real possibility for Montreal in our eyes, we can't turn down the extra goal-and-a-half at this price; the play is the Canadiens on the puckline option!
I'll take my chances with the Lakers as a 6-point road dog against the Nuggets. I'll be looking to fade Denver early. Nuggets are going to be a bit overpriced to start the year after last year's title run. I think they have a hard time matching the intensity of the Lakers in this one. LA is going to be highly motivated for this one. They have not forgot about getting swept by Denver in the playoffs. People forget how close that series was because it ended 4-0. LA was in every one of those games. Only one of those losses were by more than the number here. I'll take the points, but I really think they win this game outright. Give me the Lakers +6!
Tonight's matchup features the Predators (3-3) taking on the Canucks (3-2) at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The game faces off at 9:15 PM ET and will be covered by ESPN+. Here are the odds: Canucks -102 and Predators -120. Puckline NHL Odds with Canucks at +1.5 and Predators at -1.5. The NHL Betting Total is set at Over/Under 6.
Demko had a rough 2022-23 season, going 14-14-4 with a 3.16 GAA and a .901 SV%. But now, in this new season, he's doing better. He's had some good games lately. Demko made 31 saves in a 4-3 loss to the Lightning on Thursday. And just before that, he stopped 40 shots in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Flyers.
In the recent game, Saros did well by blocking 31 out of 32 shots, securing a 5-1 W against San Jose on Saturday. Unfortunately, his hopes for a shutout were dashed in the 3rd. But overall, it was a strong performance, following his 23-save game in Nashville's 4-1 W over the Rangers on Thursday.
We’re on the under here as the Predators and Canucks should play to a lower scoring affair.
These two teams play an identical style, which should cause this game to be a slower played game.
Saros and Demko have both looked really dominant at times this season and not allowed many rebound chances, which has been key to their success.
Look for scoring chances to be a premium here and for this to be played with possession in mind both sides.
A trend to note, the total has gone UNDER in 4 of Vancouver's last 6 games against opponents in the Central. Head to head in their L3 matchups the Preds own a 2-0-1 advantage. This year the Preds are 2-1 at home, while the Nucks are 2-2 on the road.
Back the UNDER tonight in Nashville. Expect the goaltending to stake center stage.
