Texas Tech enters this matchup as the undefeated team at 3-0 but I look for Villanova to hand it its first loss of the campaign on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats figure to slow things down in this one, noting that they check in ranked 325th in adjusted tempo according to KenPom this season. That slow play hasn't taken away from Villanova's offense at all as they sit 18th in adjusted offensive efficiency. Compare that with Texas Tech, which has also played at a reasonably slow tempo, as it checks in 127th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency. The Red Raiders have held up well defensively, but they've also faced only the 321st most difficult schedule so far this season. I believe there's a class difference between these two programs that isn't being properly reflected in this line. Take Villanova.

This is a play on the MICHIGAN WOLVERINES+1.5 for our Wednesday Free Play. Michigan opened the season 3-0 with three blowout wins but is coming off a bad loss against Long Beach St. in its last game, falling by eight points as a 16-point favorite. It has been two straight disappointing seasons for the Wolverines as they have failed to crack 20 wins and last season they did not make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. They were one of the youngest teams in the country last season but has a lot more experience and it is definitely a big year for head coach Juwan Howard as they have underachieve. Memphis has had a great run under head coach Penny Hardaway as it has won at least 20 games over the last five seasons. The Tigers made it to the NCAA Tournament last season but lost to eventual Final Four team FAU and while they are going to compete for the AAC title, there is work to do in the meantime. Memphis brings back only one player that saw playing time and while they are off to a 3-0 start including a big win at Missouri, this is a tough matchup against a team off an awful loss. Here, we play on neutral court teams as an underdog after allowing 90 points or more going up against an opponent after two straight wins by 15 points or more. They are playing as well as anyone in the NBA right now and should be favored by more over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The spot really favors the Timberwolves tonight. They had yesterday off and will be playing just their 3rd game in 7 days. The 76ers will be playing the 2nd of a back-to-back and their 6th game in 9 days here. They'll have nothing left in the tank for Minnesota.

Making matters worse for the 76ers is that they went to OT in a 122-119 home loss to the Cavaliers last night. Four of five starters played at least 41 minutes in Embiid, Maxey, Harris and Melton. Don't be surprised if the 76ers rest some key players tonight given the tough spot.
