LITERATI - Doesn't seem inspiring to me after the lack of any sort of closing ability on Dec 2nd. No picnic to invest in this racer in today's event. Make her show you something in a short distance contest before you play her in a race of 6 furlongs. Don't believe this less than sharp equine will make an impact in today's event. That last speed rating was quite unimpressive when compared with today's Equibase class figure. THE GODDESS NIKE - Showed very little in the last event. Really don't expect any betterment today. In any race of 6 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been sharp in sprint affairs recently. BLACK BULLET - Would have to move up off that seventh place finish last time out to make an impact here. Tough to play any racer in a sprint race at 5/1 when she hasn't shown any successful endeavors in sprints in the last sixty days.

With a quite good 73 speed figure last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this race. Ortiz will almost certainly be able to get this colt to break out quickly in this race. WILD CAUGHT - Has to be considered versus this group of animals displaying decent figs recently and an average speed rating of 65 under similar conditions. He has decent class ratings, averaging 78, and has to be given a shot in this race. REEF RUNNER - Has to be given a chance based on the quite good Equibase Speed Figure garnered in the last contest. Is hard not to look at given the company run in lately.

Must be given a shot given the class of races run recently. WISH FOR PEACE - Exhibits the look of a money-making play, averaging a solid 85 speed fig which is one of the best in this group of animals. Gamblers should probably note that this animal runs with second time Lasix today. CRAZY LEGS HIRSCH - Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this gelding. Can't overlook the connections here, a 25 winning percentage, one of the best at getting into the winner's circle.

FRANK LUCAS is my choice. He has decent class ratings, averaging 58, and has to be given a shot in this race. The price might be right on this one. His earnings per start in dirt route races alone makes you take a look at him. TOMA PUERTORRO - With Castro getting the mount, watch out for this pony. Has been running admirably lately and ought to be up on the lead early on. EL PROFESOR - Will most likely be one of the leaders of the group going into the midpoint of the race. The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Pena running at this distance are the strongest in this field.

VIDEO PRINCESS is my pick and could score at a price in here. Last time out, this filly faced a tougher bunch. Had one of the most competitive speed figures of this group in her last outing. ROCKABILLIE - Hard to pass on this filly with Delacruz in the irons. Players should probably feel comfortable with this selection given Delacruz's recent returns at the window. ALLINTHECALL - Murphy has this filly racing well and is a very good selection based on the quite good Speed Figures garnered in sprint races lately. Murphy has her trained solidly to break sharply out of the starting gate.

R B'S BIG MOMENT - Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Definitely on edge for a good one today. Last time around the track, finished fifth in the slop at Laurel. Will most certainly do better in this field. Three consecutive improved speed ratings (11-27-30) make this horse a solid contender. CUNDI - This mount could be tough this time around, especially since Mena rode in the last race and now should be acquainted with this one. Entered a $12,500 Maiden Claiming race at Laurel last time out and raced in the slop finishing seventh. Should do much better right here in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 KAPADOKYA (ML=2/1), #3 CARA IN THE CITY (ML=3/1), #10 BACALL (ML=5/1),

KAPADOKYA - Don't believe this runner will do much running today. That last speed fig was somewhat easily forgotten when compared with today's Equibase class figure. CARA IN THE CITY - Last ran on November 23rd at Laurel, finishing seventh. Unlikely to perk up off of that effort in today's race. BACALL - A bit of a lackluster effort when this filly finished fifth. Not probable that the speed fig she garnered on Dec 11th will hold up in this race.

CARDIO PRINCESS (JPN) - Zayas was aboard this filly last time around the track and was impressed enough to take the animal right back. Zayas should have her moving solid on the turn. This filly is uppermost in earnings per start. Check out this horse in the post parade. AMUNET - Just missed hitting the board on Oct 19th at Laurel. With pretty good M/L odds in this event, she has my interest. You always have to be on the patrol for bankroll building jock/trainer combinations; we have an instance right here. This filly's last speed rating garnered on Oct 19th is tops in last race speed ratings.
