PICKS NOTES
#4 Kahala He might just be in over his head with the locals, but he has some room to improve in the second start off the three-month break, and he's worth a look at a midrange price while trying turf for a versatile sire.
#5 Just Battle His only win came on the lawn, so the surface switch coupled with a class drop could do him some good, and he figures to be on the scene late for a piece.
#2 El Perfecto His form is all over the place, but most of it has come against better, and he woke up a bit last out when getting in with claiming company. In the mix.
Race Summary Lot of hard-hitting local barns in here for a fun claimer. Kahala's only local start didn't turn any heads, but he's down in class and on the turf for this next one, and I could see him plugging away late to land it if he likes the lawn.

Fair Grounds - Race #7
PICKS NOTES
#5 La Scaloneta She woke up when getting a turf sprint for the first time, and she seems as good as any in here with something similar. Interesting.
#7 Lightning Myqueen She outran the 18/1 price in the debut try at Churchill, and something similar probably keeps her in the frame with these. Tactical speed adds Lasix and wouldn't shock anyone here.
#10 Tipsy Runner I liked the winner of her last here in November, and she figures to find another decent spying spot with this group. Obvious player -- totally price dependent for me.
Race Summary I'll take the last one at face value for La Scaloneta in hopes that she found her favorite trip, and I think the price might still be playable enough right back.

Fair Grounds - Race #8
PICKS NOTES
#1 Mine Your Biz He has had his share of chances, but he has some occasional finishing form that might play well in a spot with a lot of chase-and-fade running lines on the page. One-run finish at a price?
#5 Vero Campone He's another who is short on excuses at this time but fits on form. His two-back run at this trip was solid, and he's a late threat again today.
#7 Calibachoamatters No clue. He's supposed to drill these with anything like either of the Monmouth starts, but he's now showing up in a Louisiana-bred $10,000 spot after getting beaten a dozen lengths and getting claimed about 60 days ago in Maryland for more than three times that price. He can win this, but there are not a lot of great signs here.
Race Summary Would be no surprise to see Calibachoamatters air on the lead today, but he has not shown much fight when headed in the past, and he's dropping hard off the claim. Think Mine Your Biz has some price potential to show up late.

Race Summary INSENSITIVE’S past performance lines are loaded with next-out winners, none more revealing than her last start, when she was no threat against Howl, who came back to win the Safely Kept Stakes at Laurel Park at odds-on, and Bourbon to Blame, an easy MSW winner at Churchill Downs. The race timed 4/5 of a second faster than a 2yo stakes race for the boys on the same card. Couple that with a 6-wide run for second at 7F in the race prior and a third-place finish at this distance in the spring and it adds up to a win and place wager.

He earned his top speed figure for a barn that is on a 5-for-17 run with second-out new acquisitions and can upgrade to a victory with an extra furlong to travel. Bet to win and place.

4th race – (2) Miss Sayely has sharp speed and may control the race from an inside post. (3) Belle’s Blue Bell has stakes experience and should be the main foe. 5th race – (1) Veterans Beach stretches out after running in a sprint and should prevail from the rail. (2) Fredo has a nice turn of speed and may prove tough to catch. 3rd race [NY, Md 30000, 1 mi] – (4) Solo Tonight (B) debuted at 7-2 and rallied after getting blocked at the 3 /16th pole. (8) Judge Rules was in his first start at 6-1 in a maiden special weight. (9) Goldfire also started in a maiden special weight and finished fourth at 9-2. (2) Arco Augusta will make his first start for a tag for a trainer that is winning at 30% with horses that make their first appearance in a claimer.

5th race [NY, Md Sp Wt, 6F] – (6) Doc Sullivan (A) climbed due to kickback in his first career race, had to race wide on a track that was favoring speed, and finished third. (5) Allied Attack had the lead in his second start last month and finished fourth behind a pair that won their next starts. (10) Charles J was fifth in his debut which unusually happened on the turf in an allowance race at Laurel. (7) Slow Down Big Andy will make his first start for a trainer that has been doing quite well with is debut runners and is having an outstanding meeting.

7th race [OC62k/N2X, 1 mi] – (6) Guntown ran one of his best speed figures when he rallied for second after racing on that Dec. 2 track that favored horses on the lead. (1A) Life Changer returned from a five month layoff to get second and was claimed for $50,000. He finished in the top three in his last 11 races with three victories. (8) Power Seeker was a winner in his second start of the year in a first-level allowance for Linda Rice. (9) Ducale came back from six month layoff with two starts at today’s allowance level and was third last time.

8th race [NY, Alw 75000 N1X, 6F] – (1) Scoring Chance (A) drew off to win her debut by almost five lengths last month at Aqueduct. (5) Lady Mine comes back from a six month break after a pair of wins against open company. (4) True Express is the winner of 5 out of her last 6 starts which were at Finger Lakes but she is past winner at Aqueduct three times. (3) Harlan’s Bond was second in her last two races including a $50,000 claimer against open company.
