#628 ASA FREE PLAY ON Boise State +1.5 over San Diego State, Saturday at 1 PM ET - We really like this spot for Boise coming off a rare home loss and now back at home a few days later as an underdog (opening line SDSU -1). The only other time the Broncos were a home dog this year the beat a very good Colorado State team by 7 points. SDSU has won 8 of 9 but they’ve been a bit shaky on the road this season. Their one very solid road win was @ Gonzaga, but they’ve also lost @ New Mexico, lost @ Grand Canyon, lost @ BYU, and had down to the wire wins at UC San Diego (won by 1) and at San Jose State (won by 3). The Aztecs are getting outscored by an average of 3 PPG in their road games and they are facing a Boise team that puts up an average of 80 PPG at home while allowing just 61 PPG. If we include neutral site games as well, San Diego State is just 2-7 ATS when playing away from home this season. Extra Mile Arena is one of the toughest venues for visiting teams and Boise had won 23 straight home games before their loss to UNLV on Tuesday. Prior to beating CSU as a home dog this season, the last time the Broncos were getting points at home was way back in February of 2020. Last season SDSU was a step above this year’s squad as they played in the National Championship game. Even with that team, they were not able to beat Boise on the road last season with the Broncos coming out on top 66-60. We’ll call for Boise to win this one at home, as they normally do.
NHL Saturday Philadelphia Flyers +105 vs Colorado Avalanche @ 1:07 ET - People might first look at Colorado here coming off a bad loss but the value here is with a Flyers team that is on a hot streak. Sure, the Avalanche would love to bounce back but they are having issues in terms of allowing too many goals. They have allowed an average of 4 goals last 4 games. Also, Colorado has allowed 4 goals per game over their last 9 games so this is NOT short-term trend! As for the Flyers, they have allowed an average of just 2 goals per game last 8 games! In their 5-game winning streak they are allowing only 1.6 goals per game! This Philly team is red hot and on home ice and they already knocked off the Avs 5-2 at Colorado last month. This is a confident Flyers group right now exceeding expectations! PHILADELPHIA +105
In their game earlier in the season, the two teams combined for a total of 34 points. Houston has gone under in 11 of their 18 games this season. Baltimore saw the under come in nine of their seventeen games. The under is 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two. The number has dropped from the opener but I still like the UNDER. Both defenses are playing well and even though weather shouldn’t be a factor it will be cold and that could have an effect on Houston. Play on the under 43.5 Texans/Ravens This is a free play.
Jack's Free Pick Saturday: Charleston/UNC-Wilmington UNDER 157 Charleston and UNC-Wilmington squared off three times last season, so they are very familiar with one another. Those three games saw 140, 154 and 121 combined points. The previous meeting saw just 117 combined points as well. Familiarity favors defense and low scoring games, and this total of 157 has been set too high today. UNC-Wilmington and its opponents have combined for 153 or fewer points in five consecutive games coming into this one. Wilmington games are averaging 153.7 combined points per game overall this season while Charleston games are averaging 154.6 combined points per game. There's certainly value on the UNDER today. Wilmington is 12-3 UNDER In its last 15 games following two or more consecutive overs. Charleston is 26-11 UNDER in its last 37 road games following a home loss. Bet the UNDER in this game Saturday.
Dave's Saturday Free Play: 1* on Texas Tech -1.5 -115
The Key: Texas Tech had its 9-game winning streak snapped with a blowout road loss at Houston. You could see that coming a mile away as Houston was coming off 2 consecutive road losses and hungry for a victory. But now the Red Raiders are humbled and back home, and I expect them to take down the BYU Cougars tonight. The Cougars are finding out how tough it is to win on the Big 12 road this year. They lost 81-72 at Baylor after getting upset by 9 at home by Cincinnati. They are coming off a 15-point home win over Iowa State and getting too much love after that result. The Cougars are 0-3 ATS in their last 3 road games this year. The Red Raiders are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring 55 points or less. Texas Tech is 38-21 ATS in its last 59 home games off a loss by 15 points or more. Take Texas Tech.
I like the Canucks to win this game on the road against the Maple Leafs in a Canadian battle. The Canucks are one of the hottest teams in the NHL winning 7 of their L10 games and are super dominant on home ice. The Maple Leafs are in a slump losing 4 of their L5 games and it will not get any better with them visiting one of the leagues best. The Canucks offense ranks 1st in GPG averaging 3.78 and have the best shooting percentage in the league. The Leafs defense ranks 21st in Goals allowed per game and 25th on the Penalty Kill, which can be a big difference maker here as Vancouver ranks 9th on the Power Play. The Canucks are 13-4 their 17 home games and are 17-5 at home against Toronto. Take the Canucks ML (-120) here. -Joey Tron
