I know Virginia looked bad against USC. But Connecticut couldn’t score a touchdown against Temple until overtime? Give me a break. On that fact along, the Huskies have no business being a double-digit favorite. This figures to be a low scoring game and Coach Groh knows a thing or two about defense. The Cavaliers have allowed less than 20 points per game in three of the last four years. Plus let’s not forget which conference the Connecticut Huskies are from! The Big East is now 0-12 ATS this year with South Florida blowing a 14-point 4th quarter lead for the 2nd consecutive week last night. Keep in mind Connecticut QB Tyler Lorenzen threw three interceptions against Hofstra two weeks ago at home! They had five turnovers and seven penalties for 70 yards that game. Last week Lorenzen was 10-of-22 for 86 yards against Temple. Last year they lost at Virginia as a 3-point underdog scoring 16 points in the process. Should this team be a double-digit chalk? Marc Verica makes his first start at QB for Virginia after Peter Lalich experienced legal troubles this week. This has to be an improvement for UVA, as Lalich wasn’t exactly lighting it up. The last time UVA was on the road they destroyed Miami of Florida 48-0. The Cavaliers were 3-0 ATS as a road underdog last year. Five of the last six opponents for Virginia have been USC, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami of Florida, and Wake Forest. If that doesn’t prepare you for Connecticut, nothing does. The Cavaliers went 3-2 ATS in those games and beat Wake and Miami of Florida on the scoreboard and in the wallet. Connecticut’s best RB, junior Andre Dixon, is doubtful with an ankle injury. Of course his back up ran for 214 against Temple. But I don’t see that kind of production happening today.
