Cheap number here for the Royals who are usually a go against team for me, but at home, off a win, with Chen on the hill, who is in good form, I will take them at this number. Cleveland has issues with southpaws, and Chen is a solid lefty here with an ERA of 3.18 his last 3 mound appearances, and while he does not have great home records, KCs bullpen is in far better form right now than the Tribe. KC has won 6 out of their last 8 home games against better teams than Cleveland, who they beat in a tight one last night, a game I was at in person. Carmonas for the Tribe has owned KC as of late and it was mentioned in the local media that the Royals team wants a win over him, he is 7-2 his last 9 against them, something that is well known.

Analysis:
Play on Minnesota at 8:10 EST – the Twins beat the White Sox in dramatic fashion last night when Thome hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 7-6 win. That victory extended the Twins winning streak to five straight and Minnesota has now won eight of the last nine games. The Sox are reeling having dropped three straight and seven of their last nine games. The Twins are tearing the cover off the baseball as they are scoring 5.1 runs per game and hitting .293 over their past seven games. Against these weak division opponents the Twins are averaging just under 6 runs per game. The pitching matchup is a quick rematch of last Thursday’s game when Floyd and Liriano faced off in Chicago. It wasn’t much off a game as the Twins beat the Sox 6-1. Floyd was beat up by these Twins allowing ten hits and three walks which amounted to all of the six earned runs Minnesota put up. Liriano pitched very well allowing only seven hits and one earned run in 5 2/3 innings. The White Sox can’t stand facing Liriano as they have lost all three times against him this season. Overall, Minnesota has owned these White Sox over the past three seasons winning 20 of the 25 games. The White Sox were hoping to move up on the Twins in the division race but after last night’s loss have fallen 4 games back. The Twins are a mid-range favorite in this game tonight and they have been very tough in this situation all season posting a home record of 19-3 when favored by $125 to $150. We’re backing the Twins!

Analysis: The Rockies bounce back against a pitcher that they have just clubbed over the last 3 years.


Both teams have been struggling, but the following list is the key to this play:


April 25, 2008; Los Angeles: 6 innings, 5 runs, 9 hits;
July 23, 2008; Colorado: 6 innings, 5 runs, 9 hits;
August 19, 2008; Los Angeles; 6 innings, 4 runs, 6 hits;
May 7, 2010; Los Angeles: 5.1 innings, 5 runs (4 earned), 9 hits, 5 walks;
May 29, 2010; Colorado: 4 innings, 7 runs (5 earned), 10 hits


Those are Kuroda's 5 starts against the Rockies in his career. The Dodgers are 2-3 in those outings, but had to score 14 runs in those 2 wins, and I don't foresee the Dodgers getting 6 or 7 runs.


Yes, LA is more comfortable at home, but Jason Hammel is a solid arm, and will likely battle his way through 6-7 innings, even if he does surrender a couple.


On top of all that, the Dodgers bullpen is all kinds of screwball, and they were not tested in the series-opener last night. The Rockies pen is solid, aside from a few blips here and there.


This is the live dog of the night, no question about it, and we'll collect a juicy underdog price against a pitcher that just hates facing our Rockies.

Note: When the Tribe sends All-Star Fausto Carmona to the mound against Bruce Chen in Kansas City this evening, Cleveland will have all the best of the hitting and pitching in this contest. That's because Carmona's 3.30 road ERA and his 1.26 road WHIP are actually better than his 4.26 home ERA and his 1.41 home ERA this season. On the flip side, those numbers are also superior to Chen's whose 5.40 home ERA and 1.77 home WHIP are substantially worse than this 4.05 road ERA and 1.15 road WHIP this campaign. In addition, Chen is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in his MLB career team starts against the Indians. With Carmona 7-3 in his career team starts in this series, and Kansas City have scored four or less runs in each of its last 13 games (prior to last night), look for the Tribe to scalp the Royals here tonight.
