      ROYAL FLUSH SPORTS

A couple of Mountain West teams kick off their conference action this Saturday as the Air Force Falcons and the BYU Cougars tangle in Colorado. The Cougars enter this contest winners of their last 6 games which just happens to be one of the longest win streaks in the nation. BYU disposed of Washington last week 23-17 in a game that a huge portion of the betting public were on the side of the Huskies. BYU's impressive performance on both sides of the ball was no surprise to the brain trust here at Royal Flush Sports. Utilizing a 2 QB attack BYU got the best out of Jake Heaps and Riley Nelson combining to hit 24 of 40 passes for 262 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With 10 different receivers catching a pass it is safe to say there will be plenty of balls to go around in Provo this year. Against one of the most hightly touted quarterbacks in the nation last week in Washington's Jake Locker the BYU pass defense was up to the challenge limiting Locker to 266 yards through the air and only one touchdown. The middle of BYU's defense, anchored by three experienced upper classmen was also up for the challenge of stopping one of the Pac 10's favorites this year by holding the Huskies to only 128 yards on the ground. As for Air Force they also won their 1st game of the season blowing out a pretty bad Nortwestern State team by a score of 65-21 respectively. Air Force clearly executed on offense rolling up 65 points totalling 437 yards against a defense that doesn't even deserve to be compared to BYU, yes they're that bad. Air Force's defense had some problems stopping Northwestern State's offense surrendering 21 points and 16 1st downs to an offense that, yes you guessed it doesn't deserve to be compared to BYU's offense. Even worse news for Air Force's defense is the fact that their star defensive end Wylie Wikstrom went down with a torn ACL and is now lost for the season as well as their defensive back/kick returner Reggie Rembert going down with a neck injury. It's going to be a real shock to the system for the Air Force players when they step on the field with this incredibly talented BYU team compared to the competition the Falcons faced last week. We feel very strongly that Air Force is in for a rude awakening and our play is on the BYU Cougars to win this one with ease.

          The Duke's Sports

          Nevada (-23') for 2 Units

Revenge game for the Wolf Pack, which got beaten at Ft. Collins last year. Ault has 9 returning starters back on offense, including QB Kaepernick who should torch the Rams on the ground and through the air. Colorado State has been in a major funk under Fairchild losing 10 straight games and they won't have an easy time here. Ault's "Pistol" offense should put a good thrashing on a worn out defense not because they're bad; actually, the defense a veteran unit -is their strength. But the offense with true freshman Pete Thomas should continue to have trouble with a rebuilt offensive line and a limited skill supporting cast. Consequently, the Rams' defense will eventually break while the Wolf Pack kicks it into gear late. Colorado State has not shown resolve after SU losses at 7-20 ATS, including a poor 0-7 ATS off a SU loss of 20+ points. The Wolf Pack should feast on the Rams; after all, they're 15-4 ATS at home vs a sub .500 team on the road.

                Stanford at UCLA
                Pick: UCLA +6

After laying an egg at Kansas State last weekend, I smell a bounce back for the Bruins this weekend at home. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Stanford hasn't won in Pasadena since 1996, losing six straight to the Bruins and falling to Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2000. The Cardinal is still going to be tough but they won't sneak up on anyone this season and I think without bruising Toby Gerhart, they have lost some of their toughness. UCLA corrects some mistakes from week one and takes down Stanford.
