The Angels are trying to hang onto desperate playoff hopes, but the season is long in the tooth and time is just about run out. The Jays would be just six games off the Angels pace, but in the AL east that doesn't cut it. Dan Haren off two injury plagued years that has seen his inning total approaching a career high and he is starting to show it. Haren, in his last eight starts, has seen his ERA swell to 4.61 and the Angels have consequently payed the price on the road where they are 0-4 in his last four road starts and 1-5 in his last six on the road as a favorite. The Jays are bouncing back at home off a loss where they have taken five straight and have the ability to win or stay close in this one. I like Toronto on the runline.

The Philadelphia Phillies have lost 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6 including both games of a double header yesterday vs the Nationals. On the other hand Washington has won 9 of their past 12 games heading into tonight's game. On the mound for the Nationals is John Lannan, who has a respectable 3.68 ERA on the season (9-13 with a 1.47 WHIP and .272 opponents batting average). Vance Worley will get his expected last start of the season, as the Phillies will most likely have him pitching relief in the post season. Worley has been solid all season with an 11-2 record, 2.85 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and .234 opponents batting average. At home Worley is even better with a 6-0 record, 2.01 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and .195 opponents average. The Phillies bats have cooled down heading into the postseason, scoring just 28 runs in their last 12 games which includes one game with 9 runs. Take the 9 run game out of the picture and they have scored just 19 runs over 11 games. Note that the UNDER is 13-3 in the Phillies last 16 overall, 4-0 in their last 4 home games, 11-1 in their last 12 as a favorite, and 7-0 in their last 7 vs a team with a losing record. The UNDER is 5-0 in the Nationals last 5 overall, 16-5-1 in their last 22 road games, and 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win. The UNDER is 5-2 in Lannan's last 7 starts following a quality start his last time out, and 5-2-1 in his last 8 starts vs NL East opponents. There are some big bats out of the lineup tonight which is even better for our UNDER. Ryan Howard is listed as out for tonight's game, while Hunter Pence who missed Game 2 yesterday is listed as questionable. With playoffs coming up I couldn't see the Phillies rushing Pence in the line up. For the Nationals Jayson Werth left yesterday with an elbow contusion and he is also questionable for tonight. Two solid pitchers on the mound, and two teams who have been struggling to put up a lot of runs lately. I really like getting even money with the total at 8 in tonight's game. Take the UNDER with confidence.

First the Pitching, CJ Wilson is 2-1 with a 0.39 ERA in his last 3 games, the game he lost he only gave up 1 run. McCarthy has also pitched well 2-1 with a 1.64 ERA. The difference once again is the offense, Texas is hitting .315 and have scored 43 runs in the last 7 days compared to Oakland .212 and 18 runs in the same span. Wilson should be able to hold down the fort until the Texas bats come alive.
