Tuesday MLB Free play. My selection is on the 'over' 8 (-113) between San Diego and Pittsburgh at 6:40 pm et on Tuesday.
We'll take the flyer on the 'over' with the wind forecast to be blowing out on a warm night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
There's really nowhere to go but down for Padres ace Dylan Cease. He's been the best pitcher in baseball over the last several weeks. He's not invincible, however, and the Pirates have been hitting reasonably well, ranking in the top half of the majors in weighted on base average over the last seven days (at the time of writing).
Bailey Falter will be tasked with cooling off the Padres bats. He hasn't seen much of San Diego hitters but current Padres are 4-for-10 with a 1.300 OPS against him. Note that San Diego ranks eighth in baseball in wOBA over the last seven days. Falter checks in having allowed four earned runs over 7 1/3 innings of work over his last two starts. Take the over.
(Orioles -142) — We are leaning toward the favorite in this matchup. The price seems off when you consider that Toronto's Chris Bassitt is 0-3 with a 7.47 ERA over 15 2/3 innings in his last three starts and has had difficulties in past matchups against the Orioles.
This is a 1% free play on the Orioles on the moneyline.
The St. Louis Cardinals are 6-13 against the runline when facing a left-handed starter and Rays southpaw Jeffrey Springs has a fresh arm as this will be just his second start since his return from Tommy John surgery. Springs has a 1.00 ERA in two career appearances (one start) against the Cardinals who counter with Sonny Gray (10-6, 3.72 ERA) who is 4-6 with a 4.20 ERA in 15 career appearances (13 starts) against the Rays.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the recent history of these two teams is particularly significant.
- Kansas City are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games.
- Kansas City are 9-2 SU in their last 11 games against an opponent in the American League.
- Seth Lugo is 5-3 in his last 8 home starts for Kansas City
