Fair Grounds - Race #7

#4 Incognito Burrito	Forward player might land a dreamy trip after graduating from right up on the splits last time out, as that same kind of first-jump run might be available to her here.
#9 Bet Towinit	She's got a pedigree that makes her a fun one to keep an eye on, and she was just second behind a winner with an extremely high ceiling for a Louisiana-bred. Outside draw should let her attack the whole way.
#1 Powdered Sugar	She might get a cozy trip from the inside after finishing up her last two pretty well from close range, and her form has really come to hand since getting in with Louisiana-bred friends at this kind of trip. One of the ones.
Race Summary	Incognito Burrito might trip out from right behind the pace in here, and I think she could potentially keep Bet Towinit at bay -- that one can hit hard here after chasing a tough winner last out.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#5 Todo Men	There is some obvious upside at second asking today, and he could be able to find another decent tracking spot before angling through again. He'll have to handle a couple interesting firsters -- among others -- but I think he can do it.
#10 Joejoe Go	He took some cash and ran to it pretty well in that debut try, and any reasonable move forward from that would probably make him tough here. A couple other logical players might help keep the price just playable?
#1 Regained Power	Nobody will be surprised if this top team sends out a debut winner at a trip like this, but I worry that she could be in line for a tricky kind of trip from the fence. Check him out.
Race Summary	Todo Men might be able to kick home a bit better with that debut try under his belt, and I'm not totally sure what to do with 5/2 ML chalk #8 Proudly Hailed who will go for a capable Cox team, but you've got to take her into consideration.

Fair Grounds - Race #9

#1 Pure Hickory	Not totally sure what to make of her through two turf starts, but she gets into an easier spot today while turning back, and at least she showed a little bit of interest in the sprint debut.
#7 Elodine	Her baseline stuff keeps her in the mix with this group, but that has basically always been the case for her, and she feels like she's getting short on excuses at this point. Price probably won't be too exciting either.
#8 Princess Pom Pom	Wouldn't be a total shock if she drilled these while getting back over to the main track off the failed turf try, and she should be in a decent spot to take a shot at the leaders into the lane.
Race Summary	Pure Hickory didn't offer any resistance late in that route run, but she's down in class for this one while trying the main track and meets a couple of potentially vulnerable logical players.

Race Summary	SPICY GUACAMOLE rallied 4-wide but settled for third in a higher-tagged route when she last raced on the all-weather track three starts ago. She raced close-up for 6F from post 11 in a turf route race last out and could be ready to upstage several in-the-money finishes on the class drop. Bet to win and place.

3^rd race [NY, Md 40000, 1 mi] – (1) Dark Devil began his career in maiden claimers, finished second four times, and got claimed twice. After trying two maiden special weights he drops back down. (6) Glint was second last time while running for a $40,000 tag for the first time. (2) Scottish Storm and (2B) Aint No Joke were both claimed in Kentucky by Linda Rice in October and have to be considered contenders in this field. (7) Bad Boy Butch pressed the pace and ran second last time in a $20,000 race.

5^th race [Clm 50000B, 6 ? F] – (7) Wake Surf (C) was bet down from 10-1 to 7-1 when he dropped into a claimer for the first time in a year, finished third last month with a big jump in speed figures, and got claimed for $35,000. (2) Stolen Magic returned from a five month layoff going from turf to dirt and won a first level allowance with a career best speed figure. (3) Confabulation had top three finishes in his last five starts with a maiden claiming victory and another in a $40,000 N2L claimer. (1) Daufuskie Island will drop into a claimer after running well in a series of first-level allowances.

6^th race [NY, OC 45k/N2X, 6F] – (7) Whatchatalkinabout (A) had the lead in the stretch after pressing the pace on a track that was favoring late runners and was second by a neck. (3) Aggelos the Great was third in his last two starts finishing behind the Hot List horse each time. (5) He’s Got It won the first-level allowance last month with a closing move as the favorite. (4) Lotsa Trouble won a $25,000 claimer against open-company with by far his best speed figure.

8^th race [OC50k/SAL50k, 1 mi] – (5) Nilo’s Rose gets Lasix for the first time in her third career start after winning a $50,000 maiden claimer. (2) Heavenly Light was claimed from a maiden breaking effort for $50,000 by Brad Cox as a heavy favorite and gets first-time Lasix. (8) Gaga’s Hamsome won for the first time in her fourth try in a $50,000 maiden claimer in which she hit the board each time. (3) Furry Fox ran only once last year and that was in November when she beat NY-breds by more than 12 lengths.

GOOD MISSION - This filly is entered right back into a race in less than 10 days; this is a positive sign. Generally accepted handicapping angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. Going to run a good one. I'M KIDDING - Have to make this filly a serious competitor; she comes off a sharp effort on December 29th. A repeat of that last effort on December 29th where she registered a speed rating of 75 looks good enough to win in this event. MISS UPROAR - This equine didn't run well on a sloppy track in her last start at Aqueduct. You may want to throw out that performance. Dropping 7 pounds from last race. Could be a deciding factor today.

NIKKI BRAINBURST - There's speed, speed, and more early speed in this affair. Doesn't look too promising for this animal. This filly has already lost as the public's choice the last two times. Hard to give her another chance. BETTER BE SMART - Tough to play at 6/1 odds after the most recent outings. The Equibase speed figs continue to sink, 75/72/61. Not a positive signal. Recorded a mediocre rating in the last race in a $30,000 Maiden Claiming race on Dec 29th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that rating. CUPRITE - Tough to put your cash on this speedball. Too much early speed in the event. Usually I need a sprinter to have some recent success in short distance affairs in order to support her.

PERFECT DIXIE LADY - Duhon has her trained soundly to break swiftly out of the starting gate. Garnered a formidable speed figure in the last race. Can run another good one in this affair. MALLORY UNBRIDLED - Looks very strong to be on or close to the front end at the first call. Is a sharp contender based on numbers put up recently under today's conditions.

Will probably come out solid - I have liked the way this mare has moved sharply to the lead recently. Has to be considered here on the basis of the numbers in the speed section alone. MAMA LOU - Diaz has a strong win percent with horses racing in dirt sprint races. With a strong 72 Equibase Speed Fig last time out, will definitely be a factor in this outing. DESTINE TO RACE - She ought to be carefully examined given the formidable speed numbers. Must be considered given the class of races run lately.

GIANT GAME - Using this jockey/conditioner combination is a good move. The rest of the bunch may trail this thoroughbred all the way around the track. Eurton adds Lasix to this one today. I'd look for a chance at a big improvement. ACCRETIVE - The ROI when Hernandez and Sharp team up is outstanding. Moves back to a trip at which he ran a speed rating good enough to make him a contender today. CALL ME FAST - This gelding is in good physical condition. Ended up third on December 26th.
