MISTER ROSSO - Villarreal was aboard this gelding in the last race and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. This thoroughbred coming off a sharp contest in the last month is a contender in my opinion. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. Outside the top 3 finish last time around the track at Turfway Park was better than it looked on paper. He improved position in the lane and never gave up. This gelding earned a strong speed figure of 75 in his last affair. That rating should be good enough to triumph this time around. ABBI FEDE - This jock and conditioner have a lucrative ROI when they work together. Got some betting action in maiden outing on August 5th at Ellis Park, but finished fifth. Has a shot right here. Ennis, the trainer, shows intent by adding Lasix in this field. A positive sign.

BIG LAMBROS - Hard to play at 7/2 odds after the two most recent efforts. Don't think this steed will do much running today. That last fig was substandard when compared with today's class figure. DAY MONEY DEEGAN - This gelding likely won't be right there at the finish. KERNER - Doubtful for this participant to do much running with no recent success in a short distance contest.

SPEARFISH - This horse coming off a nice contest in the last month or so is a contender in my opinion. In this race here, this thoroughbred has clearly shown signs that he likes the turf. His speed figures are the highest in the field for this distance and surface. Finished seventh at Santa Anita last out. Was close at the end and at odds of 6/1 right here, he looks like a possible contender. NAVAJO WARRIOR - This gelding has the top turf fig in his last race. It doesn't take a college grad like The Brain to figure this here mount has a good chance. You have to really like that last race speed rating, 97, which is the highest last race speed figure of this field. This animal has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 87 to 95 to 97 in succession. HURRICANE WAY - Berrios and Blacker partnered with one another are a punter's friend. I am keen on that latest race on Feb 1st at Santa Anita where he ran fifth. Coming off a fifth place finish at Santa Anita, some may pass on this horse. I'm not. He just missed hitting the show spot, and has pretty decent odds today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 BIG GEORGE (ML=3/1), #9 OVER THE OCEAN (ML=7/2),

BIG GEORGE - This gelding hasn't been showing me anything in the last two outings. Finished sixth in his most recent race with a common speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to prove victorious after that in this field. OVER THE OCEAN - It's a major jump to win in a Maiden Claiming race and then step up and beat winners. Doubtful that the speed figure he notched on February 15th will be good enough in this contest.

My pick in this contest is CHASE THE MOON. This field is much less demanding than the last one he faced. Might best this group of animals here, showing very strong numbers of late. Carrete has shown excellent profits (+25 return on investment ) with horses in longer quarter horse events. DARK IVORY COAST - Could best this group of horses here, showing strong figures of late. Carrete has her trained admirably to break sharply out of the gate. EVERYBODY KNOWS (T) - In against a much less demanding lot than last time out.

JEREMYS ALIBI - The handicapping team noted a sharp event out of this contender last time. Looking for a repeat of that to end up in the winner's circle.

That 77 speed figure clocked in the most recent competition puts this entrant in the mix in this one. KENOGAMI COCO - Hard to put finger on it, but give the nod to him for this one. SOUTHWIND DOMINO - This competition could very well be controlled by this gelding. Just one look at the avgerage speed rating will prove that. There is a formidable possibility of an increase in speed as this gelding changes equipment - taking hopples off.
