1st race – (8) Pinky Finger should start off 2-year-old racing with a win for Ward. (3) Monster shapes up as the main rival. (5) Chatterfield could be a factor. (1) Lily’s Army is worth a look from the rail. Betting strategy: 8 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-5-8.

3rd race – (2) Velvet Vortex was an impressive debut winner and can make it two in a row. (3) Shoot It True looks like the one to catch. (6) Foie Gras adds Lasix and merits attention. ROLANDO - This colt is very reliable, frequently finishing in the money. Colt looks like the lone speed here. He may turn the race into a procession. Have to give this colt a shot. Ran a sharp contest in the last race within the last 30 days. This colt is rounding his way back into shape. Should race well today.

IRA THE ICON - The morning line odds on this gelding are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of handler Ness. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. This gelding is in excellent condition right now. Finished first last time around the track and comes back rapidly. Ness seems to have this gelding primed for a big effort. His workout pattern is wonderful. That 97 fig this gelding recorded in his last event tells me he's a key player this time around. ASSEMBLY POINT (BRZ) - The rider and conditioner combination have a favorable ROI when they work together. This thoroughbred coming off a nice contest in the last thirty days is a strong challenger in my book. SUPREME BEING - Jockey hops back atop after getting to know the beautiful animal by riding last time out. That's always a great angle.

TIP TOP CAT - Many horse players will recognize the stellar speed rating in the last contest. Stacks up against any horse in this grouping. Talk about a dynamic duo, Bates and Burke have some of the best driver/conditioner ratings at the track. SAULSBROOK VICTOR - Comes into this competition with very nice TrackMaster class figures relative to the field of starters - take a good look. This race horse earned a really good speed figure last out. Looks fit to come right back.
