NBA (533) SACRAMENTO KINGS VS (534) DETROIT PISTONS
Take: UNDER the Total
The Sacramento Kings (38-40) are set to face the Detroit Pistons (43-35) in a crucial inter-conference matchup here on Monday. The Kings are battling for a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament, while the Pistons have secured the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Kings sit 9th right now a half game ahead of Dallas for 10th and three-games ahead of Phoenix for that final play-in spot. I fact, Phoenix is the only team that can still make the play-in that sits below the 10th spot line. As for Detroit, they have a solid hold on the East No6 Spot. That's important since they have a playoff spot and not a play-in position. They sit five games ahead of Orlando for the coveted 6th spot but could improve to 5th as they trail the Bucks by just a half game. With the regular season ending on April 20th, this makes every game important for positioning.
The Kings average 115.8 points per game, ranking 10th in the league, with a field goal percentage of 47.7%. Defensively, they allow 115.6 points per game, placing them 20th in the NBA. DeMar DeRozan leads the team with 22.2 points per game, while Domantas Sabonis contributes significantly with 19.1 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Detroit scores an average of 115.2 points per game, holding the 11th spot in the league, with a shooting accuracy of 47.4%. The Pistons concede 113.1 points per game, ranking 14th in defensive performance. Cade Cunningham is the standout performer, averaging 25.7 points and 9.1 assists per game.
The Kings played Sunday and pulled off the upset win at Cleveland, 120-113. Sabonis played in that game and scored 27 points and just missed a Triple Double. The Pistons, with a day's rest and home-court advantage. Kings might be a bit tired here on Monday in this 2nd of a back-to-back spot and as such look to slow the pace a bit.
Looking at this total of around 230, I'm looking for these teams to go under as the game slows down and becomes more of a half court contest. Pistons also have no motivation here tonight with two weeks left in the regular season they might be getting more rest to their starters.
The 76ers have had a difficult season, currently enduring an 11-game losing streak and already eliminated from playoff contention. Key injuries have severely impacted their ability to compete down the stretch. They are without Joel Embiid (C): Out for the season (knee surgery), Paul George (F): Out for the season (adductor and knee injuries), Tyrese Maxey (G): Out for the season (finger tendon). Kyle Lowry (G): Questionable (hip) and Justin Edwards (F): Questionable (rib).
The Heat are still in the hunt for a spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Despite an up-and-down season, they have a chance to make a postseason push in their final games. The Heat have secured a Play-In spott right now at No 10. They can't fall out but can improve as they are one game back of No 9 Chicago, two games back of No 8 Atlanta and three games back of No 7 Orlando. They also have some nagging injuries that could effect the outcome. Tyler Herro (G): Questionable (thigh) and Andrew Wiggins (F): Questionable (hamstring). Alec Burks (G): Questionable (back) and Haywood Highsmith (F): Questionable (Achilles).
The 76ers average 109.6 PPG (offense) and allow 115.8 PPG on defense. The Heat average 109.9 PPG on offense and allow 109.9 PPG on defense. Miami enters the game as heavy favorites due to the depleted state of the 76ers. With Philadelphia missing their three best players—Embiid, George, and Maxey—it will be an uphill battle on both ends of the floor.
The Heat, despite some injury issues of their own, have enough depth and experience to control the pace and secure a win, especially if Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins are available to play. The Heat would like to move up a few positions and this is the kind of team that can provide an easy win.
