I guess tongue in cheek is not the right word. More just really in your face... someone on Metacritic said like Xena Warrior Princess with some soft porn in it, just not very subtle. That's how I felt, but I have only seen a couple episodes. I will get back around to it eventually, maybe even next. I definitely don't take critical assessments as gospel, and they vary wildly anyway.

Spartacus is pretty shitty IMO. It is similar to True Blood for me, it is enjoyable in that it entertains, but not a great show in the grand scheme.

I tried Deadwood, but couldn't get into it. Never seen Homeland. I have heard good things about Friday Night Lights too... that and The Wire, are the two that I haven't seen but definitely will.

I do have every single season of Friday night lights. It is actually really good

I would call it pulpy. There is a lot of blood and tits and muscley guys walking around. And yes, it's pretty in your face. If you're looking for subtlety then you would need to look elsewhere. It's not serious in the way that Rome is serious, but at the same time I didn't feel like the storyline was something I wasn't supposed to become emotionally invested in.

I will also point out that the first two or three episodes are not the best. You need to at least get to episode four or five before you decide it's not for you.

Personally, I loved it and I know Luke and two other friends of mine also loved it. But then again, yours and my tastes when it comes to cinema have never really been too similar. Though we do apparently both agree that Warrior is a good movie.

Im just venting here, I know most of you don’t even know what baseball is……..

So I play fantasy baseball, I do pretty well with it. Im in 1^st place right now, the guy in 2^nd is right on my ass though. He made some bullshit trade with the guy in 7^th, where basically 7^th place gave 2^nd place his best two players for nobodies. That shit is gonna probably cost me the title and a lot of money.

After I get caught in guillotines sometimes I try to put myself in that same position so I can work on getting out or passing to the other side so my head is on the opposite side so I can get out in side control..however...sometimes I fail at that and look silly by "making the same mistake again".

I also need to learn to pass guard better..I suck dick at that. I forgot all the guard passes I knew from when I first started training a few years ago and it's annoying.

You only really need 2 guard passes- a smashing one and a stacking one.

My advice, don't try to pass while guillotined, unless you are almost passed already. Defend the choke first, then pass. Of course it will be easier to defend from side control, but if you are moving around a lot, you are giving him space to cinch the choke. Also, you are never going to pass someone decent with your head in that position, so it is not a skill really worthy of practicing (again, the exception being if you are almost passed anyway).
