I think I might make my biggest straight bet of the year (ever) on Brian Stann if he is -200 or better.

Stann is a better striker and has power against a VERY aged Wandy with a bad chin and cardio issues.

Devil's Advocate: Wandy beat Bisping while Stann lost a clear decision.

Yeah, I don't like to use MMA math...I just think the style match up favors Stann a lot

any chance Wand will go for td in front of the japanese fans? I dont know how wand thinks, but I's say the Japanese fans would REALLY appreciate him taking stan down and win a decision or possible TKO gnp.

I think the opposite. He will make it a war on the feet for the fans.

I am really excited for Lombard/Okami. It's too bad I probably won't be able to watch these fights though, I'm gonna be at t3h Arnold

I always thought of Wandy as constantly training and in good shape. When have you seen him with cardio issues? I get the bad chin, though I don't think it is absolutely gone. I know I've had this argument on here before but I will make my point about him again. His recent knockout losses (4 in the last 7 years) are from 1 heavyweight(cro cop), 1 from Hendo H bomb, one from QJ and one from Leben. They are all guys who hit notoriously hard. His chin has had to have fade since when he was 25 years old but I think theres still something left.

Of course I do recognize that Stann hits like a ton of bricks and I guess has a decent enough chin (I don't think i've really seen him hit that much). I would say that Wandy probably has the better overall striking but Stann has a lot of power. The rest of the game is somewhat moot because even though Wandy has a black belt he never uses it.

                      I might bet wandy.

I also might bet Diego Sanchez in round three. Gomi has cardio issues and Diego really likes to push it. I am sure Gomi knows this and is training hard for the fight though. I remember you guys saying Gomi's cardio looked decent in his last fight though so I may have to go and watch that video.

I was out of town for Gomi/Danzig. I have to watch that fight. Diego should win on paper with his aggressiveness and his ability to wear opponents out (and his Leonard Garcia windmill style), but he has some things going against him. He has been fat and out of shape at 170 since UFC 114. He is noted to get up to over 200 lbs and have a not so great lifestyle..he has been out of action over a year and is cutting to 155 AND traveling. With all those factors, I don't like Diego at -300. When this was first announced I loved Diego but after some thinking I am probably going to put a small bet on Gomi. (This is assuming I like what I see in Gomi/Danzig)

Good point about the weight cut. I forgot he is dropping from 170 down. Its been a while for him. Diego did come out and say he was partying and living a bad lifestyle that he was working hard to clean up. He said the tipping point was UFC 114. His cardio was great against Paul Thiago. I can still remember him picking thiago up in the air over his head and body slamming him in the third round. I wore out Kampmann. He probably shouldnt have even got that decision but his endurance won the fight for him. Ellenberger gassed in their fight from Diegos pace.

You are right though. It is hard to tell what a year off and a weight cut will do to him. For all we know he put on another 5 or 10 pounds of muscle fighting at 170 and will now have a much harder cut. A gassed Diego could really get hurt from a big Gomi hook too. Something to consider. I try to dig up some info on him. Maybe theres some interviews or pictures of him. We can see if he looks cut.

I cant see Gomi winning . He's looked like shit for about five straight fights. I think Diego smothers him for three rounds and wins an easy decision

Also think Lombard puts it to Okami. And Stann-Silva is a horrible matchup for Silva . At this point in his career any striker is going to KO him.

Cung le and bisping couldnt ko him. Id say cung is a better striker than stann. Rich couldnt put him away either. Im not saying stann wont do the job. I would t be suprised to see it happen but i wouldnt be shocked to see wandy pull it out either.

The point i am trying to make is i think it is a closer matchup than people give it credit for and i think wandy still has a little bit in the gas tank.

Did rich drop wandy at all? I missed that fight.
