I want it to look and sound good though. I know it will take practice, I like to just jump in, that's how I learn... by jut trying to do it.
Cheap means the least expensive thing I can get quality. There is usually like a base "quality" model in most industries... like for cycling, I know that you really can't get a decent road bike for less than $800... but you can get a department store bike for $150. So if someone were to ask me what a cheap road bike is, I would say $800 or $900. You can get a good quality bjj for $110, though some really shitty ones are out there for half of that. You know what the price of entry is, don't hoard your info. I want a "good camera" that I won't outgrow or break within 2 years.
It's not super-cheap but I've seen it on sale at Best Buy for a couple of hundred under MSRP. I came REALLY close to buying it before getting my t3i, but for your purposes, I think it would be about perfect.Last edited by SPX; 02-21-2013, 06:01 PM.I heart cockComment

$900. That's not cheap. What is the resale on these bitches like in case I lose interest?2012: +19.33

I've actually heard people saying they were able to re-sell that very camera for only a couple of hundred less than they paid for it.
You can go out and get a cheaper camera that will have a fine image, but after you learn a bit about filmmaking you'll probably regret it because you'll realize it's lacking features that you really want (like a focus ring).I heart cockComment

The other option would be to go with a DSLR, which can double as a still image camera. You also can use interchangeable lenses, which can be helpful.
This is what I have:
But there are certain limitations with DSLRs (like a maximum 12-minute limit for any single video recording and lack of autofocus . . . though the latter has been alleviated with the new t4i) and all in all they're probably a bit less user-friendly for video. But it's an option.Last edited by SPX; 02-21-2013, 06:24 PM.I heart cockComment

A very interesting look at the thought process behind at least one Academy Awards voter:

I'm honestly curious what people see in awards shows. I don't get the fascination with these media-imposed self-congratulating masturbation-fests. The Oscars is the king of smug, self-satisfying, self-important, elitist exclusivity.
Plus, that guy picked Zero Dark Thirty for Best Picture. LOL no.Triple-six killers in this motherfucker runnin shitComment

I think the idea of annual film awards is nice, but the Oscars are clearly pretty political and, perhaps more importantly, the vast majority of Academy members are fucking old. They need to balance that shit out.
As for that guy's picks, I liked some and not others. Not ZDT obviously. But I do support his choice of Roger Deacon/Skyfall for Best Cinematography. Also his Wreck-It Ralph pick for best animated feature (although admittedly I haven't seen some of the other nominees).I heart cockComment

I think the Award ceremony is pretty gay. But I am glad they do the awards, for a guy that doesn't see every movie ever
(anymore, I used to), it does help me narrow down what I might want to watch. I suppose any top 10 list could do that for me though, or even metacritic or rotten tomatoes. I guess I still like the concept, but I consider every nominee to be equal, and the winner is political.2012: +19.33

According to Helwani:
Dana just said Aldo told him he is refusing up flight Pettis because he doesn't think he deserves it.
Dana said Aldo will fight Pettis or he's not going to like the way this turns out. He's absolutely refusing right now.I heart cockComment
