      Agree

and yes 9 and 11 pounds higher for these two is a lot even at HW.It shows neither guy took training that serious. These guys only gut 30-40 pounds for fights not getting those 9 or 11 pounds off is a good chunk of the cuts/training they didnt do

The way I look at it is maybe that means CroCop did more weight training this time around.

Look at Mir for the Carwin fight. Sometimes weight gain is intentional.

Why would one gain weight when he's already slower than the guy he's fighting? If anything he'd want to cut more to get more speed

The counter to that argument would obviously be power.

There's always that trade-off. Being fast is good, but not if you sacrifice too much power. Being strong is good, but not if you sacrifice too much speed. You have to find a middle ground.

To give a personal example, when I was in high school and weighed 120 lbs I was no doubt faster than most guys who were 200 lbs. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't beat my ass.

Question: Judging by the size of champion K1 guys compared to HW boxing champs, it seems that kickboxers optimize at a higher weight. Is there an obvious explanation for why this is true?

The two current HW boxing champs are the Klitschko brothers who are 6'7 247 and 6'6 244 ,the one before them was Lennox Lewis who was 6"5' 250 so I'm not sure what you mean.

If you mean why are kick boxers thicker than boxers its because boxers have to fight 36 minutes K-1 fighters go 9 so they want skinning legs and kickboxers want monster legs they can kick with at HW

OK, that is a little heavier than I thought. I was thinking they capped out at 230 or so.

Or you could be Brock, and have size, speed and power.

I may be laying off Barry now. I didnt realize he was that light for his previous fights.

Condit at +135 is intriguing. I think Funch might win too.

Well he did say this is the first time he can fully use his legs. that might be a bs excuse for losing in the past but if not he may be working them out more. -because he isn't afraid to injure them. Longshot but maybe.
