      What about Cus?

Wasnt Tyson like 15 or 16 when he met Cus ?

Thats a little late in life to be teaching someone how to act . If you want kids to act normal in society you have to teach them alot younger than 15 . I could be wrong though I'm not exactly sure when they met

          Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)

Wiki's unclear, but it seems that Tyson met Cus somewhere between ages 13 and 15. I think that if Cus had held on just a few more years then things might have gone differently for Tyson in both his career and his life. If you watch the documentary, whenever Cus comes up in conversation that nigga always starts crying. I think that Cus was the only real guidance that he had in his life--the closest thing to a father that he ever had--and that Tyson respected him and loved him.

Obviously it's all conjecture. But once Cus died Tyson was surrounded by snakes 100% of the time and everyone wanted to take something from him, not give something to him. And Tyson, for all his physical strength, was mentally impressionable and let others run his life for him.

FWIW, an interweb IQ test says that Tyson's IQ is 72, which would put him squarely where I would have guessed, borderline intelligence, 2 points from being what we consider "retarded." It may or may not be true, though...

I also read that he was unable to pass his GED test. He was in prison here in Indiana where I practice law. Passing your GED is an automatic 6 month time cut off your sentence. Every prisoner knows this and if you do not have a GED, they all try to take it... I don't know if you have ever seen the GED test, but we are talking about something you could probably pass by just looking at the answers, not even reading the questions, it is ridiculous. I give this more weight than his alleged IQ, which I also saw someone said was in the 120's (no).

Anyway, you probably know a lot of people with IQs between 55-75. They are not Corky, and most of them don't even know they are "retarded." They just can't process and integrate information at the same rate most can. It also affects the way they handle thier emotions and coping skills. Anyway, I see borderline intelligence people literally every week doing disability work.

You can have a low IQ and memorize a lot of shit, so he may very well be an encyclopedia of boxing information... And IQ is not everything, some people with really high IQs are "stupid" because they never supplement it with knowledge. And the reverse is true as well, borderline intelligence people can "adapt" and be fully functioning members of society with steady work history, etc. So from that standpoint, yeah, his upbringing did not give him the chance to learn any adaptation skills. But since he is a retard (IMO) he can't learn them on his own either.

Its all guesswork, we will never know. But I will continue to see Tyson as a tragedy because I think he is borderline retarded.

FWIS , Oj Simpson is also "retarded" accoding to teh scale that mental health professionals use. He can barely read or write. But no one has any sympathy for him, including me. I also did two murder cases a few years ago and both the guys were retards. One is on death row.

I only have sympathy for Tyson because I think he has borderline intellectual functioning. No joke, I do a lot of work with mentally handicapped people, and I seriously think he is mildly mentally retarded.
Yeah, I had the same impression, and that movie enhanced that. He wasn't really able to understand his world, and was easy pickings for some of the sharks around him.

I also came away with the impression that he was, by nature, very selfish and very violent. I felt like 99 times out of 100, this guy would have gone through life as just another thug, victimizing other people and in and out of jail for as long as his (possibly short) life lasted.

Somehow though, fate saw him become extremely wealthy and one of the most famous men in the world. And yet, he still didn't really have the life-skills to be able to make it work.

                  Ha, maybe an MBA.

Seriously though, you can go pretty far in school in some of the softer disciplines while being a total fucking moron. I used to teach two MBA courses: Business Law and "Negotiation and Conflict Resolution". There were some really stupid people in my classes, but I never failed anyone that did all the work (never gave less than a C, truth be told).

I finally got done reading this , took me 4 days. I thought it was a good novel .I like the way it was wrote but I have no idea why anyone would want to vist the M-Resort . That hotel is literally out in the middle of the desert with nothing around it for miles. I wouldnt stay there if they paid for my plane ticket. It might be good for a day trip then head to the strip

The betting ingame props look very interesting but I'm sure I and most people would lose their asses betting them . I would give my left nut to get a hold of their Algorithms or Las Vegas Sports Consultants database.

                                That is pretty cool.

I don't like killing animals, but I do wish I had some sort of grueling physical outdoor activity in my life that would force me to go trudging through the snow in 0 degree weather.
