Did you hear anything off of The Unquestionable Truth? If you like RATM, you may actually like that album. Some people accused them of actually trying to rip off RATM's sound, which they denied, but either way it kind of worked. I can't remember the names, but there were three songs on that album that I thought were pretty cool.

No I've never even heard of it. I stopped paying attention to them after that Chocolate Starfish album. I'll look into it.

And I take it back, Limp Bizkit isn't that awful. Their 2nd album is a guilty of pleasure of mine. I love Nookie, Re-arranged, and of course I'm gonna break your fucking face tonight.

I'd listen to their first album, A Cruel World, first. Then go to Red Harvest, which was still good, but not quite as good in my opinion.

The whole situation surrounding that album was odd.

I'll quote from Wiki:

The EP marked a departure from the more mainstream and hip hop sound that the band was known for. The 7-track EP also marked a further slide away from mainstream recognition, debuting at #24 on the Billboard 200 (Results May Vary peaked at number 3). The Unquestionable Truth marked the return of guitarist Wes Borland. Borland had been absent since the 2000 release of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water which was visible in the sales of 2003's Results May Vary.

One of the key differences between this and other Limp Bizkit albums was the serious tone of the lyrics, as well as Durst's increased involvement in the recording process of the album. For example, "The Surrender" was written by Fred Durst, who played guitar on the song live while recording the vocals, with Wes Borland later adding in the solo. None of the songs off the album have been performed live with the exception of The Truth.

Actually, their next album was released weeks ago, on May 3. That this is news to so many people should tell it all.

^^^ Yeah, I just don't get into that kind of stuff. I don't understand it. Like that whole bit from about 1:30 to 2:17 doesn't even sound like music to me. It sounds like a bunch of inmates from an asylum got a hold of some instruments and just went buck wild with shit.

As for it being "creepy," I guess it is, but if I wanted to be creeped out I would watch a horror movie. I usually listen to music to get pumped up, or inspired, or shit like that.

Yeah, I have no doubt that there's a rhyme and reason to it, and that there's a lot of skill going on there, but it just does not appeal to me. It's like they tried to do TOO much at once to the point where it all gets jumbled together.

I have actually tried to get into death metal/black metal/any other kind of metal that's remotely similar and I just couldn't do it. Like I said, I bought that Extol CD and really tried to enjoy it, but ultimately was just like "fuck this."

As I mentioned before, the heaviest stuff I really get into would be Devil Driver, who I really like, and if I want to hear some technical guitar work then I'll listen to Rust in Peace again.

I just listened to the Truth by Bizkit and yeah that sounded quite a bit like an old RATM song, with Durst doing his best Zach de la Rocha impression. Not too bad though.

I'm not a guitarist, so I don't speak with authority, but I know that some of Dave's solos are extremely complex, as complex as that shit, just different.
