I can't remember the names, but there were three songs on that album that I thought were pretty cool.
No I've never even heard of it. I stopped paying attention to them after that Chocolate Starfish album. I'll look into it.

And I take it back, Limp Bizkit isn't that awful. Their 2nd album is a guilty of pleasure of mine. I love Nookie, Re-arranged, and of course I'm gonna break your fucking face tonight.

I'd listen to their first album, A Cruel World, first. Then go to Red Harvest, which was still good, but not quite as good in my opinion.

The whole situation surrounding that album was odd.

          I'll quote from Wiki:

The EP marked a departure from the more mainstream and hip hop sound that the band was known for. The 7-track EP also marked a further slide away from mainstream recognition, debuting at #24 on the Billboard 200 (Results May Vary peaked at number 3). The Unquestionable Truth marked the return of guitarist Wes Borland. Borland had been absent since the 2000 release of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water which was visible in the sales of 2003's Results May Vary.

One of the key differences between this and other Limp Bizkit albums was the serious tone of the lyrics, as well as Durst's increased involvement in the recording process of the album. For example, "The Surrender" was written by Fred Durst, who played guitar on the song live while recording the vocals, with Wes Borland later adding in the solo. None of the songs off the album have been performed live with the exception of The Truth.
. . . and from an MTV article that came out around it's release:

So what will Limp Bizkit do to launch their next album?

Actually, their next album was released weeks ago, on May 3. That this is news to so many people should tell it all.

There was no celebrity-packed party, no cameras, no tour, no video, no commercials and not even a single interview. Instead, we got a blog. Fred Durst, sitting in front of his computer in his underwear, promoting his music the same way an unsigned 15-year-old might market his latest batch of bedroom recordings, except with messages so vague it's hard to tell if Durst is even writing about Limp Bizkit at all.

In its first week out, The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) (a collection of seven songs with a full-length album's price tag) sold 37,000 copies, according to SoundScan, a dismal showing compared to first-week totals of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (1,055,000), Significant Other (635,000) and Results May Vary (325,000).
You may want to check it out just so you can say that you've heard it. I don't talk to many people who are even aware of its existence.

This is probably the best song off that Bizkit album, by the way. . .

Hey SPX I got a black metal song for you.

It's still probably too extreme for you, but it's got plenty of melody and singing mixed with it's rasping. It's fucking creepy, ultra heavy, and awesome.

                  Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)

^^^ Yeah, I just don't get into that kind of stuff. I don't understand it. Like that whole bit from about 1:30 to 2:17 doesn't even sound like music to me. It sounds like a bunch of inmates from an asylum got a hold of some instruments and just went buck wild with shit.

As for it being "creepy," I guess it is, but if I wanted to be creeped out I would watch a horror movie. I usually listen to music to get pumped up, or inspired, or shit like that.

I did once I have an album by these guys though:

                    Haha yeah.

Everyone says the same thing at first. You have to develop an ear for it. That song is incredibly technical and structured actually.

I'm really digging this Bloodsimple album. I love Tim Williams' voice. Thanks for the recommendation. Also if you like them, you should check out some old VOD. Their first album is epic.

                        Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)

Yeah, I have no doubt that there's a rhyme and reason to it, and that there's a lot of skill going on there, but it just does not appeal to me. It's like they tried to do TOO much at once to the point where it all gets jumbled together.

I have actually tried to get into death metal/black metal/any other kind of metal that's remotely similar and I just couldn't do it. Like I said, I bought that Extol CD and really tried to enjoy it, but ultimately was just like "fuck this."

As I mentioned before, the heaviest stuff I really get into would be Devil Driver, who I really like, and if I want to hear some technical guitar work then I'll listen to Rust in Peace again.

Which one? A Cruel World? Both albums are good, so check them both out. Glad to hear you like them.

Yeah, you have to do it gradually, and even then, it's clearly not for everyone.

And yeah, Dave is technical and all, but cmon.

That's the last bit of convincing I'm going to do.

Just know that I'll be here for you if you decide to edge closer to the darkness. Everyone needs a metal coach.

Yeah it looks like they're broken up because VOD is back together and recording a new album. Sick.

                              And I got Cruel World.

I just listened to the Truth by Bizkit and yeah that sounded quite a bit like an old RATM song, with Durst doing his best Zach de la Rocha impression. Not too bad though.

Cannibal Corpse. LOL. That's actually a little more tolerable.

I'm not a guitarist, so I don't speak with authority, but I know that some of Dave's solos are extremely complex, as complex as that shit, just different.
