    I don't disagree.

Even card counting is difficult, though. Especially in a single/double-deck face down game. Bottom line is that being a winner isn't easy . . . but it's possible (even mathematically so).

I assume this is what you're talking about.

When you talk about modern day roulette cheating everything has gone high tech and the days of magnets and sticky numbers are long gone. The latest buzz in the roulette cheating world is what is known as sector targeting. Sector Targeting is a cheating method which is done using a computer program that can be wired into your mobile phone or any other electronic device. When the roulette wheel is spun the program uses lasers to calculate deceleration on a roulette wheel and then can determine the decaying orbit of the roulette ball and consequently, which sector it is going to land in. While this system will not give the player an exact number for each game, it can greatly improve the odds of hitting a winning combination.

This method was used in London casinos a few years back and made a profit of over $1,700,000 in a single night. The craziest part is that the players got to keep the money even after they were discovered since UK laws did not specifically prohibit this type of cheating device. We've heard that sector targeting devices can be acquired for around $1,800 however were unable to located any resources to purchase the device. If you have a heads up on where to get one give us a shout as we would love to test it out and report back on the findings.

I've never seen a face down blackjack game. I don't see what the point is, unless the rules are different. But yeah, that would obviously make it much tougher.

You got it, brother. Good find there.

Call it cheating--and I guess it is--but like it says, they got to keep the money. All I can say is that smart guys are always ahead of the curve when it comes to this shit.

We have a little town right inside of Nevada called Wendover and pretty much ALL the blackjack games there are single-deck, face down. For counters who know what they're doing it's pretty much choice pickings. But having tried to count that kind of game myself, I can assure you that it's pretty difficult for the average person. The dealers flip the cards to card them and then grab them, so you have to be able to add everything up in those couple of seconds.

                Yep.

And as for the three system players themselves, they didn’t break a single law and ended up keeping the entire £1.3 million. The laws in the UK relating to the case at the time dated back to 1845 and simply forbid "unlawful devices".
Of course, I always get yelled at for pulling my cellphone out at the tables so that would be kind of hard. And you're right, it's just like everything else. The enforcement is always going to be a step behind the perpetrators, simply by definition.

So what's the point of it? Is it to deter counters? Every blackjack game I've been at, you're not allowed to touch your cards at all. And most of the tables have a 6 or 8 deck shoe.

From what I understand, the guy with the cell phone was actually on the second floor with a view of the wheel. He was getting the results and radioing the shit back to the player, who would then make the bets.

                    It was sophisticated.

But yeah, like you said, the enforcement can only react. It's up to the players to come up with intelligent, effective, and legally ambiguous ways to win.

Then again, these articles don't mention about how these guys were mysteriously kneecapped 6 months later and their houses set on fire. LOL

That's exactly it, to deter counters. Because single and double-deck games (with good penetration) are much more susceptible to counters. The way I've heard it described is "6 deck games are dinner, but single-deck games are dessert."

In a single-deck game, you can pick your cards up. Just only do it with one hand and don't bend them.

As for why they offer them, I think it's because even regular players recognize that single deck games are better. Even using Basic Strategy you will win more (or lose less) at an SD game. However, beware: Many casinos now are offering SD games where blackjack only pays 6:5 instead of 3:2 which pretty much nullifies any advantage you may have.

Yeah. I understand single deck, I just meant why offer face down. Deterring counters makes sense though, was just curious because all the single decks down here are still faceup no touching. Well all the ones I've played anyways.

And fuck that changing the odds crap. That's like that horrible 'Crapless Craps' game. Have you seen that? Ripoff city.
