Vanier is at fault to a point. If he didn't know the hand was down he shouldn't have been throwing knees to the head in that position. Majority of the blame should be on the ref though, he definitely should have stepped in after the first one, it wasn't the first that caused the cut because it was mostly blocked by the forearm and whatnot.

Yeah, that (Laimon crap) is why I was surprised when SX told me that Royce had gone to the blue. Helio wore a blue as a protest to the path sport bjj has taken. The blue is the beginning, so he was trying to say that bjj needs to get back to the basics. So I guess Royce is following his father's sentiment.

aside from all of that, it is not true. Royce is definitely definitely a legit black belt. He is not world class, nor was he ever... but he is still a very good blackbelt. Matt Hughes would smash 99.5% of all bjj blackbelts, including Laimon into little tiny pieces. So I fail to see how that is the measuring stick for blackbeltiness.
