    Yeah. Very true.

I think when people say MMA isnt trying to be a legit sport they mean Dana or whoever worries more about entertaining the crowd more than say boxing ,football, or basketball game would. In the UFC ,SF etc if two fighters arent doing much they consistently call for action .I've even heard them say if you dont fight you wont get paid in a match before.
Yeah, I mean remember the mini-controversy when Petruzelli let it slip that the guys at EliteXC told him they'd make it worth his while to stand and trade with Kimbo? You always hear about these "secret bonuses" Dana goes around handing out after every card. It's not as bad as what EliteXC was accused of doing, but I think it's a short hop from here to there. UFC management goes way to far in trying to tell fighters how to fight.

I don't think Fitch is boring. I never said boring... I just said he doesn't even really attempt to finish the fight. Like I said, I actually like Fitch and I usually root for him (though not against BJ). I just think that he should try some things that night actually finish the fight once in a while.

But honestly why should he try to finish the fight? Isnt the point to win 2 of the 3 rounds ?

I mean if fights were untimed fights and continued until someone finishes the other fighter then I can see trying to finish someone but since the point is to win the fight why should he try?

I guess I don't think he should have to if he can win with what he does now. I agree with you though that he is basically lying when he talks about how he tries to finish. It's just one of things that fighters are required to say.

How is the ethic in bjj competition? Do the guys that win on points get looked down on?

I actually like to bowl. I used to be pretty decent at it. Not great, but not bad either. I miss those days.

I think that even fighters know that fucking up their opponent so bad that they can't continue is cooler than winning a decision. Even though it's a sport, it's still a fight.

                      Right?

Me too. I used to bowl quite bit. My high school even had a bowling team that I was on.

Appropriately for this discussion, bowling had it's own crisis about a decade ago. People weren't watching bowling on TV anymore and the Professional Bowling Association almost went under. New owners revived it, in part by trying to make it more exciting for fans (encouraging bowlers to show more emotion and go crazy, hyping up rivalries, and other stuff like that).

                          I remember something about that.

I watched that documentary -- The League of Ordinary Gentleman. I think it discussed that extensively.

                          Did the plan work?

Re-opened. Not sure what was up with that.

I think so. Though it's been a long time since I watched any bowling, myself.

Well, he doesn't have to. But I don't have to like it either. All I was saying, is that it is not a definitive win. And Fitch has been extremely lucky that he has not had to face any superior wrestlers (save GSP). His system is flawed in that he really only has one path to victory. If they really want to bring him down, they should just let him fight a string of other wrestlers. The last time he fought another college wrestler, he ended up gassing and losing the final round (Pierce). I personally think he would have a lotof difficulty with Brenneman/Hendricks/Story/Koscheck/Shields/Ellenberger. I actually think he could lose all of those fights. There are all these matchups out there for him, but they keep giving him guys he can smother.

And when you put all your faith the subjective view of Cecil Peeples, don't complain when you lose a decision.
