I get that. But look at GSP and Anderson Silva. Who talks less shit than these two? Who talks less shit than Shogun? Because the product itself is real there isn't a huge need to rely on monologue.

A good story is great, but as soon as we all know it is scripted or just to hype, it loses all of its shine.

As for entances, I think all those gay entrances are gay. Lawlor, Mayem, Mo- I just roll my eyes a fast forward, I think it is stupid and actually I find it less interesting than a guy just walking in. At least when they just roll up in there you can get an idea of how they are feeling. I like it when BJ comes in all crazy eyes alone. I am glad he doesn't do a "show" for me.

          I think it's on a fighter-by-fighter basis.

Sometimes there may not be a big story surrounding a fighter, but there's a big story surrounding a fighter. Scientist, you mentioned BJ . . . there's all kinds of drama surrounding him, his life, and his career, and that plays a big role in why people want to watch him. Yes, it all started with him being the "prodigy" and whipping a lot of ass in the cage, but once the ball was rolling a whole aura built up around him.

Take Machida. He doesn't talk a lot of shit and usually doesn't have long-standing grudges with guys, but he's the Karate Kid and, for a while, looked unstoppable. That's "story."

Yeah, I like when there is a backstory to teh fight or the fighter. But it has to be real. I don't care for fake storylines or "characters." If you are a character, you don't have to fake it. Diaz is a great example... he is so much more compelling than someone like Mo who tries to use a pro wrestling persona

I'm cool with a few guys like Mayhem, etc, but I agree that I don't want the sport to get overwhelmed by that kind of thing.

Went and saw Drive tonight. It's excellent.

One thing I should point is that the trailers are not really an accurate representation of the film. The trailers make it out to be something of an action film, but it's really not. In fact, there are only two real driving scenes in the entire film and both are not more than a few minutes long.

It's a very story-driven movie, not really about driving, but about what happens when a job goes wrong and the fallout that can ensue. This was a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, I was psyched for some great driving sequences and heist scenes. On the other, what the movie actually delivered was fresh and unexpected.

Also, the visual way that much of the movie is filmed--the angles that are used, the colors, the use of focus--approaches art and is just awesome to look it. The music as well was clearly carefully chosen to convey a certain mood and atmosphere, which it does successfully.

Overall, definitely recommended. Just make sure you know what kind of movie you're going into so that your expectations are not disappointed.

I think Tommy trained with Overeem for this movie role.

I remember there was actually an article on Yahoo a few weeks ago about how both guys got in shape for the role.
