The Baltimore crew has its 50 DIME play on the San Francisco 49ers as the road favorite at Arizona agadnst the Cardinals. As I release this selecction at 9:00 PM Eastern on Saturday night, I see San Francisco is a solid -4 point chalk at the majority of sportsbooks in Vegas and offshore. I would go ahead and buy down the half-point on San Francisco if you get the Niners at -3 1/2, -4 or -4 1/2.
Patriots -7½ at Redskins: This week Brady and the Patriots won’t blow a big lead. At least we hope not. PATRIOTS.
Bucs -1 at Jaguars: Jacksonville is at home and has Maurice Jones Drew. Bucs in freefall. JAGUARS.
Saints -5½ at Titans: Visiting New Orleans finally leaves the dome. It could be cold in Nashville. Upset alert, especially with Chris Johnson back in form. TITANS.
Bears +3½ at Broncos: Bears managed just 3 points against KC. Denver’s defense is better and Tebow is a spread beater. BRONCOS.
There's sympathy for pro football's Bears fans, not Redskins December 06, 2011 3:00 AM by Dennis Ball
Colts +16 at Ravens: Where are these double-digit betting lines coming from? You would think the Colts were winless or something. Oh, that’s right, they haven’t won a game yet and probably won’t win this one. Bottom line, Indy is not very good. But the Colts are 3 for 3 in staying within 2 TDs over their last 3. COLTS.
Texans +3 at Bengals: Cincy is coming off three losses in the last four games to divisional opponents. They suffered two beatdowns from the Steelers and one loss to the Ravens. They’re ready for a team outside their division. The problem is, the Texans are playing defense as well as anyone in the league under Wade Phillips. And the fact that Houston is down to its third string QB hasn’t seemed to slow them down. T.J. Yates looks like he won’t be intimidated by the big cats. TEXANS.
Raiders +10 at Packers: Now that the Packers have squeaked by the Giants, I think they’re home free. I believe they’ll go undefeated into the playoffs and probably play the Saints to see who represents the NFC in the Super Bowl. Yet another tough double digit game but I’m siding with the chalk. I’m not sure who puts up numbers faster, the national debt or Green Bay. Packers more disciplined than the Raiders. Oakland is missing the rushing threat of McFadden. PACKERS.
Chiefs +8½ at Jets: Kyle Orton lasted about as long as Matt Leinart. The Chiefs may have to rely on Tyler Palko and that’s not a good thing if you’re looking for a W or a cover. JETS.
Vikings +7 at Lions: After facing the Packers and Saints back to back, the Lions are looking at the Vikings like they’re fresh meat! Vikes might be without Peterson for another week. They’re also just another one of the many teams lately that couldn’t stop Tebow Time! LIONS.
Saints -5 at Titans: If you haven’t faced the Saints or Packers this season, I’m not sure you can really be prepared for the onslaught you’re going to face. The Titans haven’t faced an offense as prolific as this one the entire season. SAINTS.
Eagles +1 at Dolphins: The Fish have won 4 of 5. As good as Andy Reid has been throughout the years, he’s on a very hot seat. The Eagles have lost 4 of 5. And now it appears the locker room has shattered. DeSean Jackson looks like he wants to be anywhere but in Philly. Bad vibes are permeating everywhere—from the field to the locker room to the boo birds! Dolphins on the other hand lost seven7 straight and Sparano managed to turn the season around. DOLPHINS.
Patriots -7½ at Skins: I like home teams this time of the season. When they’re dawgs I usually love them. But I don’t like the report of Fred Davis and Trent Williams and the possibility they might not be there for this game. PATRIOTS.
Falcons -3 at Panthers: I like Cam Newton’s work ethic. I like what he says in the post game press conferences. He takes all the responsibility when things go wrong and he deflects the praise received after wins to his teammates. And in case I didn’t mention it earlier, I love home dawgs! PANTHERS.
Bucs +1 at Jags: Bucs have lost six in a row and had to go without Josh Freeman last week. But I’m not sold on Blaine Gabbert. The Jags are also dealing with a short week of preparation, a temporary head coach and the release of starting WR Jason Hill. BUCS.
49ers -4 at Cards: Niners haven’t allowed a 100 yard rusher in 34 games. They just don’t permit rushing TDs. Zero running touchdowns so far this season! Home dawg and all, I’m passing and going for the chalk. 49ERS.
Bears +3 at Broncos: All he does is WIN! Who has the nerve to bet against Tim Tebow and Denver after five straight wins? Not only have the Bears lost Cutler, now they’ve lost Matt Forte. Everything is falling into place for Tim Tebow. Could it perhaps be Divine intervention? BRONCOS.
Bills +3½ at Chargers: Bills have not been able to generate a great pass rush. Philip Rivers should be able to take advantage of a suspect secondary. CHARGERS.
Giants +4½ at Cowboys: The Cowboys couldn’t cover a spread for two weeks, beating the Skins and Dolphins but not cashing any tickets. Now they can’t cover or win after losing to the Cards in overtime. Dallas is not in a cover mode right now. They’re in either a "disorganized" or "ice your own kicker" mode. The G-men aren’t much better but I’ll take my chances with the points. GIANTS.
