ROB FERRINGO
6-Unit Play. Take #107 New England (-7) over N.Y. Jets (8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 22)
I still think that the Jets suck. I don't care that they beat up on St. Louis last week - the Rams aren't built to be favorites. But the Jets have wins over the Rams, the Colts and Miami over the last two months. That doesn't impress me in the slightest. And I don't think that they are good enough to beat the Patriots. As such, I generally don't take underdogs in the NFL if I don't think that they can win the game outright since the team that covers the spread in the NFL is the team that wins the game about 78 percent of the time. New England thrives among controversy. And this week the idea is that the Jets are ripe for the upset, that the Patriots can't recover without Rob Gronkowski, that the short week works against the Pats, and that Bill Belichick is an idiot. All of those things are going to sharpen the focus of the visitors in this one and Brady has been awesome in his career in New York. The Patriots are 53-25-3 ATS in their last 81 road games and they are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games in New York. The road team is 20-8 ATS in this series and the Patriots looked like a wrecking crew last Sunday against the Colts. I think they come out firing and bury this weak Jets team this week.
