507 NOH 7.0 (-110) 5dimes vs 508 LAL
Analysis: I'm taking the points with the Hornets on Tuesday night. New Orleans has been a serious money maker over the last three weeks, going 9-3 ATS, including 7-1 ATS when getting points. The Lakers have won their last two games, playing an unselfish brand of basketball, especially Kobe Bryant, who has dished out 14 assists in each of their last two games. But with the wins, we now have a case of "here we go again." The Lakers are over-valued as they have been for so many years. They're also off the big win over OKC on Sunday and embark on a 7-game road trip following Tuesday's contest. And let's not forget the Lakers looked great in a 2-game win streak in mid-January, before losing each of their next four games by nearly 10 points per game on average. New Orleans is playing hard each and every night and they're on an 8-4 SU run in their last 12 games. Ryan Anderson presents matchup problems because of his size (6'10) and the fact he takes about 8 3-pointers per game. The Hornets also could present the Lakers with problems inside with Anthony Davis and Robin Lopez challenging L.A….'s weakness...defending the paint. The Hornets are on a 4-0 ATS run on the road to go along with their 7-1 ATS underdog run mentioned above. Meanwhile, the over-valued Lakers have covered just 8 of their last 26 off a SU win and they're 15-35-2 ATS against teams with a losing SU record. I'm taking the points with New Orleans as they look to extend their run against the Lakers in Los Angeles to 11-3 ATS. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer.
triple-dime bet 512 Virginia -2.5 (-110) BetOnline vs 511 North Carolina St.
Analysis: I'm laying the short points with Virginia on Tuesday. When NC State knocked off North Carolina over the weekend, it marked the first time since the 2002-03 campaign that the Wolfpack defeated both the Heels and Duke in the same season. NC State got UNC in early foul trouble, specifically James Michael McAdoo, and opened a 45-26 halftime lead. However, it should be noted that the Pack didn't get to cruise to an easy win. They had to stay focused throughout after the Heels closed the gap to 85-80 late in the second half. Now, NC State must regroup in a hurry a„nd get over themselves with the matchup in Charlottesville, where the Virginia Cavaliers are 12-0 SU & 9-0-1 ATS. Virginia has been playing Tony Bennett basketball "to a tee." They're outscoring their "guests" by nearly 20 points per contest, allowing just 46.6 ppg. The Cavs average nearly 25 made baskets per game at home on 49.3% shooting, while holding the opposition to 16.6 made baskets per game on 33% shooting. I like a team that plays fierce defense without sacrificing their shot on the offensive end - and that's Virginia. They hit 42.7% of their 3-pointers, while allowing just 4.2 of 17.2 to the opposition and face a Wolfpack team that has made just 30% of their treys on the road. The Cavs also force more than twice as many turnovers per game than assists allowed (14.5 - 7). NC State, off the emotional win, is in for a rough one, in my opinion. They're 1-3 SU/ATS on the road this season. The Pack, who scored 91 points against UNC, have covered just 1 of their last 8 after scoring 90 or more points. Meanwhile, besides their 9-0-1 ATS home mark this season, the Cavs are 6-0-1 ATS against teams playing better than .600 basketball no matter where the games have been played and they're on a 6-1 ATS run in this series. I'm laying the points with Virginia, my Tapout on Tuesday. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer. -
Study Group: Tuesday's Top 25 NCB Betting Notes
Check out our quick-hitting betting notes on all of Tuesday’s ranked college basketball games:
Wisconsin at (11) Ohio State (-6)
The Badgers started 4-0 in conference play and then lost back-to-back games before edging Minnesota 45-44 on Saturday. Tough defense is a Wisconsin program staple and the Badgers have held consecutive opponents under 50 points for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign. Wisconsin held Michigan State to a season-low 49 points and then limited Minnesota to its season-worst output. The Buckeyes have won back-to-back outings and are 11-1 at home. The Badgers are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games.
(19) N.C. State at Virginia (-2)
In its win over North Carolina last weekend, North Carolina State often found little resistance and seemingly scored at will. Points figure to be a bit more at a premium when the high-flying Wolfpack hit the road in an attempt to solve one of the nation’s top defenses in Virginia. North Carolina State – the sixth-highest scoring team in the country – will likely be forced to play a much slower pace against the Cavaliers, who own the nation’s second-best scoring defense and are 12-1 at home this season. Virginia has held 16 opponents – including all six ACC foes – to less than 60 points and allowed no more than 64 points in any game. The Wolfpack are 1-6 ATS in their last seven meetings.
Indiana State at (14) Wichita State (-12.5)
Wichita State is 12-0 at home this season with nine of the victories coming by double digits. The Shockers suffered a blow when sophomore guard Evan Wessel recently underwent season-ending hand surgery. Freshman guard Ron Baker (foot) is also sidelined but the Shockers recently got back senior forward Carl Hall from a thumb injury that sidelined him seven games. The Sycamores have won three of four games, including a 59-58 victory over Northern Iowa on Saturday when Jake Odum hit two free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining. Indiana State is 6-1 ATS in its last seven road games.
Kentucky at (16) Mississippi (-1.5)
Mississippi will put the SEC’s longest current winning streak on the line when the Rebels host Kentucky. Ole Miss is 6-0 in conference play for the first time in school history with nine straight wins overall. The Rebels enter the week as the nation’s fifth-highest scoring team (80.3) but are a combined 23-for-50 from the free-throw line in the last two games. Kentucky has a pair of 6-10 forwards in Kyle Wiltjer and Nerlens Noel, but will likely be without 7-foot freshman Willie Cauley-Stein, who missed the last three games with a knee injury. Noel has been playing especially well lately, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors the last two weeks. The Wildcats are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Nebraska at (24) Minnesota (-20)
After a 15-1 start made the Golden Gophers a trendy pick to contend for the Big Ten title, a four-game losing streak has put Minnesota below .500 in the conference. Coach Tubby Smith was thought to have assembled one of the conference's premier offenses, but consecutive 48- and 44-point performances make that seem like a distant era. The Cornhuskers have won two of their last three Big Ten contests. But playing ranked opponents on the road has been unkind to Nebraska as its lost to Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State away from home - all by double digits. Nebraska is 4-1 ATS in its last five games versus a team with a winning record.Comment

Whether or not NC State beats North Carolina. Obviously, there would be a letdown
if they do, but when a home team is allowing only 50 ppg, 19 fewer than the visitor,
it doesn’t matter who the visitor played and/or beat previously. There is a style contrast
that favors the competent home side, which will only be favored by tad.

With David Lee coming up big on a daily basis, Golden State has been one of the better

The Bucks already have reached double digit in road wins, including posting recent
victories at Boston, Chicago and Brooklyn. The Bucks are a deep, veteran squad that
has been playing hard for new coach Jim Boylan. The Pistons had covered only one of
the past six times they’ve been home chalk through the third week of this month and
just returned from a three-game road trip that ended Sunday so their focus could be
off.

VIRGINIA over NC State by 13
Okay, we’ll admit it. Our ‘State vs. Carolina’ cover headline was
just a big tease: THIS is the spot where we plan to get involved
with Mark Gottfried’s Wolfpack – by FADING them off their huge
LTKO revenger against the Tar Heels on Saturday. Though North
Carolina’s rivalry with Duke always dominates the ACC headlines,
NC State and UNC despise each other with such intensity that
they seldom have anything left after slugging it out – particularly
the Pack, who have gone 0-8 SUATS versus an avenging foe
after facing the Heels (where else are you going to fi nd stats
like this other than in the Playbook!). And when we compare
recent ATS results between today’s combatants, UVA looks like a
team that just won the pointspread lottery. Despite the fact that
they’re looking to get even for an LTKO loss to State in last year’s
ACC tourney, the Cavs have cashed in six of the previous seven
meetings with the Wolfpack (3-0 SUATS in the last three regular
season games). They’re also 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in the series when
playing with revenge. But that’s not all: the Wahoos have gone
8-1 ATS after battling Boston College and they’ve defended their
home court well this season, standing 8-1-1 ATS at press time.
Tony Bennett’s troops play a tough brand of defense (ranked No.
6 in national Defensive Field Goal Percentage – 36.4), not good
news for a Wolfpack squad that managed a feeble 50 points
in a loss at Maryland two weeks ago. Toss in the fact that the
hosts are a perfect 6-0 SUATS versus greater-than .600 foes this
campaign and we see only one way to go here. Wahoo!
