While the Suns are quickly setting in the Pacifi c, the Mavs are
rising in the Southwest as Dirk is starting to heat up. As of this
writing, Dallas has won fi ve of six (only loss in OT versus OKC)
while covering each of its last seven games. We were on three of
those SU and ATS wins and we’re not about to stop now as the
Suns and their ‘Incredibly’ poor Friday home log highlight page
3 of this issue. Phoenix’s recent slump also cost Alvin Gentry his
job and it’s doubtful interim head coach Lindsey Hunter can sway
a series that has seen the Mavericks win and cover nine of the
last 10, including the last fi ve SU and ATS when playing without
rest. And remember how Captain Dirk really turned it on in the
second half of last year’s lockout-shortened season once he got his
conditioning back? Well, as Yogi would say, “It’s déjà vu all over
again” as Nowitzki seems to have recovered nicely from a knee
injury that sidelined him for the fi rst 27 games of the season. Lay
the small number as Dallas gets itself back in playoff contention
while Phoenix drops another one in the Valley of the Sun (10-11
SU and 7-14 ATS at home as of press time).
