Butler vs. Marquette (NCAAB) - 7:45 PM EST, Saturday, March 23 Premium Pick

Pick: Point Spread: Marquette -1.5/-110 -- 10* Personal Favorite

I'm playing on MARQUETTE. Long-time regulars will recall that I rode Butler hard the years the Bulldogs went to the Finals. In fact, one I successfully played on them every single game that they covered, while avoiding them in the one that they didn't. This isn't the same team though. Far from it. While still very well-coached, I feel that they'll be in over their heads here. I really like how this one sets up for the Golden Eagles. They received their "wake up call" in the first round and I expect them to benefit from that here. While the Bulldogs also rallied from a deficit, it wasn't as dramatic as Marquette's furious comeback. The fact that the Bulldogs covered and the Golden Eagles didn't is helping to provide a little extra line value here - as the perception for some as that Marquette got a little lucky. You may recall that these teams met at the Maui Invitational, back in November. Butler won that one on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, earning a 72-71 victory. Note that Marquette was a 4-point favorite for that one. While I'm very aware of the Bulldogs' neutral court success, I believe its payback time for Marquette today. 10* personal favorite

Memphis vs. Michigan State (NCAAB) - 2:45 PM EDT

Pick: Point Spread: Memphis +5.5/-110 Play Title: 9*

I'm playing on MEMPHIS. The Tigers survived a late scare vs. St. Mary's in their first game. I believe that they'll benefit from the recent "close game experience" and feel that they're offering us excellent value here. With Thursday's win, Memphis has now won seven straight. Looking back further shows that the Tigers have won a very impressive 25 of their last 26 games. The lone loss came by only two points. This is a Memphis team which only lost four times all season long. Those losses came at Xavier, vs. Louisville and in neutral site games vs. VCU and Minnesota. All four losses came by single-digits. Two were back in November and three were before the middle of December. In other words, this is a team that hasn't been blown out all year long and which has grown accustomed to winning. While they covered (by a bucket) in Thursday's opener, the Spartans are only 1-3 ATS their last four games and 3-5 ATS their last eight. Although certainly a solid (and always well-coached) team, I believe the Spartans' "big name" has them laying a few too many points here. The Spartans are 0-3 ATS the last three times that they played with one or less day's rest in between games and 1-5 ATS (2-4 SU!) the last six times that they were listed as neutral court favorites in the 3.5 to 6 range. I expect them to have their hands full the entire way here and won't be surprised if Memphis scores the outright win. 9*

Oregon vs. Saint Louis (NCAAB) - 7:10 PM EDT

Pick: Total: Over 124 /-110 Play Title: 10* Blue Chip

I'm playing on Oregon and St. Louis to finish OVER the total. Both these teams saw their first game finish below the total. Those results have worked in our favor, helping to keep this O/U line lower than it easily could have been. I believe that it will prove to be too low. The Ducks began the season as a team that liked to run up and down the floor. When Dominic Artis was out with injury, that style changed quite a bit. Artis is back again now though and they're back to their up tempo ways. For the season, Oregon games are averaging 135 points. That number climbs even higher when the Ducks play outside of Eugene. Their road/neutral court games are averaging 139.3. The Billikens have long been known for defense. That remained true this season. However, they also got a lot better offensively this season, becoming a more complete overall team. Their games averaged 126.3 points and 126 on the road. While the Ducks hit a solid 44.6% of their field goals, the Billikens hit 44.8% of theirs. The Billikens have seen the OVER go 8-4 the last dozen times that they played with one or less day's rest in between games. I look for those stats to improve today. 10* blue chip

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Nashville Predators (NHL) - 8:00 PM EDT

Pick: Money Line: Nashville Predators -150 Play Title: 9* Personal Favorite

I'm playing on NASHVILLE. I won with the Predators in their last game and I feel that this will be another good spot to back them. Give the Blue Jackets some credit. They were the worst team in the league last year and proceeded to lose their best player. They started off horribly again this season. However, they've been working hard and have fought all the way back to the point that they're in contention for a playoff spot. That said, this is a tough situation for them. While the Jackets are off a win vs. Calgary last night, the Preds had last night off. The secret of the Jackets' success has been to outwork their opponents. That's harder to do when in a b2b situation though. Note that they're 2-4 (-0.8) in that situation this season and 13-27 (-7.7) their last 40 in that situation. During that stretch, they're also 14-26 (-8.9) in that situation. The Jackets are also a dismal 19-42 (-15) vs. divisional opponents the past few seasons. During that period, the Preds are 35-26 (+11.6) in divisional games. The Preds, who play with "double-revenge," are 52-42 (+14.5) the past few seasons, when attempting to avenge an earlier loss. They're also 29-6-1 the last 36 times that they were a host in the seires. Its payback time. 8* personal favorite
