              972 ANA (-108) 5dimes vs 971 DET

Analysis: I like our chances a lot in this contest and for a number of reasons, not limited to the fact that the Tigers thrower has not thrown very well this year today and the Tiger Bullpen has not performed either. Porcello has not thrown a started game in 10 days skipping a turn in the rotation because of a day off by Detroit. That does not bring a lot of confidence to the table and the fact is, he has not been a thorn in the Angels Ass very often with a career ERA nearing 6. Over the last few years his Aprils have been God Awful. His only start here at Angels Stadium was certainly not a good one. Richards has pitched in bad luck but maintains a strong WHIP this year so far. LAA struggling so far this year but a big win by Hanson might turn this talented team on. That win means that the Angels have beaten the Tigers 4 straight here over the last couple of years. My Model shows an LAA win at 56.4% of the time and with the light Vig that makes this play 2%..

                                DAVID BANKS

                                Chicago Bulls vs. Brooklyn Nets
Backcourt play should make the difference when the fourth seeded Brooklyn
Nets (49-33, 39-40-3 ATS) host the fifth seeded Chicago Bulls (45-37, 36-46
ATS) in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series from the Barclays Center in
Brooklyn Saturday at 8:05 ET on ESPN. The Bulls did very well in the regular
season series going 3-1 both straight up and ATS, but past experiences will tell
you that means basically nothing once the playoffs start, especially
considering how well the Nets closed the season. There should also be a lot of
emotion in the building with this being the first post-season game in Brooklyn
in any sport since the Dodgers were in the 1956 World Series.

Brooklyn won six of its last seven games including a couple of nice road
wins at Indiana and Boston, and the Nets finished only one game behind the
third seeded Pacers in the final standings. That strong finish was keyed by the
Nets' potent backcourt of Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, and that
combination should present matchup nightmares for the Bulls not only for Game 1 but
for the entire series. Williams averaged 18.9 points per game for the
season, and average that climbed to 23.4 points over his final 20 games, during
which he had seven games of 30 points or more including a 42-point effort vs.
the Washington Wizards. Johnson averaged 16.2 points for the season and he
topped 20 points in each of the two big late road wins at Indiana and Boston.
And do not forget about Brooklyn's leading scorer, center Brook Lopez, who
averaged 19.4 points on the year and who abused the Chicago centers for 22.0
points per game in the four meetings during the season including gong off
for 28 points in the last encounter.

The Bulls have obviously been without Derrick Rose all season, but they may
also be without center Joakim Noah for Game 1 as he continues to deal with
a foot injury, or at best he would probably be limited he does try to give
it a go, and Taj Gibson will try to play though a nagging knee injury. Thus,
the advantages that the Bulls may have had in the frontcourt could be
negated by injuries, and the current Chicago backcourt of Jimmy Butler and Kirk
Hinrich seems totally outclassed by Williams and Johnson. Now the Bulls did
continue to play defense all year, ranking third in the league in points
against at 92.9 per game, but they are facing a Nets defense that ranked sixth at
95.1 points and the Brooklyn offense was the much better unit at the end of
the year. You cannot even say that Chicago can totally fall back on their
playoff experience, with some of those players that were in the playoffs in
recent years among the walking wounded.

The Nets failed to cover in their meaningless season finale while beating
the Detroit Pistons by four points, but they are 7-2 ATS in their last nine
games following an ATS loss. The Bulls ended the season on a 2-6 ATS run and
they are an identical 2-6 ATS in their last eight games vs. conference
opponents. Throw all that away this is the playoffs!!!

                                Pick: CHICAGO BULLS+5
